And for a girl,Pepper.

I doubt that I'd ever use any of them. They're my guilty pleasure names.

Lorellei

amck5700 · 07/06/2012 19:03

lol - didn't say i didn't like it lol - but they were handing out free mugs if you'd like a personalised present for your imaginary daughter :o

lolajane2009 · 07/06/2012 19:22

addison for a boy

GusTheOneEyedPolarBear · 07/06/2012 19:23

I like Bryeses, Fuschia, Allegra and Rhapsody for a girl and Caspian, Theseus, Grayson and Athos for a boy.

I like the African based names too, I knew someone who had a daughter called Praise, I think the connotations of the names are just lovely.
Clemecy was mentioned up thread, a really sophisticated and elegant name imo. I liked Rosaline for a girl when pg with ds2 but DH has quite conventional tastes so vetoed

NanaNina · 07/06/2012 19:33

God help some of these kids in the playground!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 07/06/2012 19:34

I'd love to go for a literary name, maybe something Shakespearean like Ophelia or Imogen, or Sylvia (Plath!) or Beatrice (Dante's Inferno) or I love that Leonard Cohen called his daughter Lorca, another poet I really love. I even kind of like Marilla (from Anne of Green Gables). The only literary one that might make the jump from in my head into real life is Simone (as in Simone de Beauvoir or Nina Simone) - and even then, probably as a middle name!

Ah, us English lit graduates with our romantic notions Wink

Lovin some of the names on this thread so far!!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 07/06/2012 19:35

Ooh yes, both dh and I like Lorelei, but not sure if we'd have the guts to actually go for it irl...

LittleMissSnowShine · 07/06/2012 19:36

I love Lorelei, like the Cocteau Twins, but I think I've seen too many episodes of the Gilmore Girls now to go with it myself!

BabyGiraffes · 07/06/2012 19:37

Evelyn for a girl and Ruben for a boy. Sadly we are done with making babies so won't be able to use them Sad. Dh had Tabetha and Gretchen on his shortlist (both vetoed!)

BabyGiraffes · 07/06/2012 19:38

Oh, dh's list also had Margaux... (but maybe he just fancied a Wine)

BabyGiraffes · 07/06/2012 19:40

And Cordelia (dh had a long list that I vetoed.... Hmm)

ReportMeNow · 07/06/2012 19:44

Magnus & Wilbur

Hebe & Posy

None really outlandish, but got vetoed.

LittleMissSnowShine · 07/06/2012 19:46

Love Posy! Reminds me of Noel Streatfield!

EvilTwins · 07/06/2012 19:51

My DDs' middle names are Ophelia & Miranda (another English graduate here...) I wish I'd gone for them for first names. I'm sure DH would have agreed, as long as I timed the request tactically.

WantAnOrange · 07/06/2012 19:51

saschamiles we are planning on naming DD Artemis, nn Missy. She's due in October.

Whoever suggested Jackson, this is most certainly a surname Wink and a very good one at that....

I like Malachi (not sure I've spelled it right) but we have zero connections to Ireland so would be weird!

Loveday is beautiful, as is Clovis. Also like Magnus for a boy.

CelticRepublican · 07/06/2012 19:52

mindyourown I am very sorry you lost your Saul.

DS's name is on here, I've seen it before too on a ' names you wish you'd used' thread. Grin

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/06/2012 19:56

Makescakes I think my bump might be called Leo if it's a boy, it's the only name DP and I can agree on. I think it's getting quite popular though Sad

raindropsinmyhair · 07/06/2012 20:06

I love Bear and Woody

littlepie · 07/06/2012 20:30

TooImmature you could be me! I always wanted Wolfie for a boy but have 2 DDs.

I like Boris Johnson's choices. I always wanted a Lettice.

I did manage to sneak Loveday in as DD2's middle name!

eimmum · 07/06/2012 20:37

We have a Magnus. WE both loved as did our families. I've not met any others yet. I wish now we had called our DD Ishbel instead of the very popular variant.

TwllBach · 07/06/2012 20:37

Artemis is lovely, and I love Missy. I also really like Ariadne.

drummerswife · 07/06/2012 20:45

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 07/06/2012 21:17

My niece is Clotilde. She is French, though.

Eglu · 07/06/2012 21:48

I love Daffodil (Dilly) for a girl
I have a hankering after Ptolomy for a boy.

Cremolafoam · 07/06/2012 21:52

Love Greta and Edith
