DH and I both teachers and looking for quirky names!

My DH and I are both teachers and don't want a name that will remind us of any pupil in particular- so we need something quirky/unusual but not totally "out there"!
DS is 14 months and called Logan- a name which is unusual but not in the realms of wacky and everyone seems to love it.
DC2 due in August and we don't know the sex.
Any ideas?

Noah

Violet
Scarlet (I don't like but DH does!)
Summer (too corney for an August baby??)

OH and I are both teachers and find names very difficult. We like Penelope for our second, but we have a Polly already. Penny and Polly??? I'm not sure.

I really like Iris but OH hates it.

Boys names are the hardest for us. I like Arthur, Eddie or Teddy.

countessbaby- I feel terrible now! You were very impressive with all your suggestions only problem is DH did wrinkly nose thing which means "no!" How about I award you an A* and one of my sparkly gold stars i reserve if pieces of outstanding work (youd never guess i teach 11-18 yr olds rather than tiddlers!) I'm sure you've given other people lots of ideas and if it's anything like my DS we'll be changing our minds right until it pops out! (I wanted Finlay for my DS but allegedly I agreed to Logan- after 40hrs in labour and forceps so I'd have probably agreed to anything at that point!
tildaandatchie and scoobydont I am rushing off to wave those names infront of DH- hopefully he'll get bored and I'll get to pick!

Naturally I can forgive but I'm not sure I'll ever forget....

I am planning to name each and every one of my DD's cuddly toys as part of my recovery process.....

Countess- sounds like labour of love! Am still mightly impressed with how many names there were- I have them all written out on pieces of paper spread all around the kitchen. The plan being that a obvious "winner" will leap out at us eventually! Failing that DH announced that if it's a boyhecan pick and if it's a girl I can pick like i'm going to agree to that!

mrskitty- am starting to worry about DH sanity. After loving Elodie to almost the point of excluding everything else yesterday, this morning he haughtily informed me he'd never even heard of the name let alone said he liked it and was I winding him up!!?? Eh?? . Maybe I'm the one who's nuts??!!

OP - this may not matter to you but Stella McCartney has named one of her daughters Riley. So kids may think your boy has a girl's name (when in fact he has a surname for a first name).

She did? Humph! I do like it to be clear cut in terms of boy or girl name. We didn't mind it being a surname as Logan (DS name) is technically a Scottish surname aparantly. Although I was a little bewildered to hear Logan is an up and coming girls name!
Now I think about it......Blake Lively is a girl and that was one of our boys names..... hmmmmmm!!!!

I have no suggestions - just wanted to wish you luck as I know only too well the whole saga of 'I've taught one of those and I refuse to call my baby that' .

We had the same problem as dp is a teacher and every flaming name reminded him of one of his former or current pupils! Nightmare and our lists were thrown out of the window once dd arrived as she didnt "look" like any of our short listed names!

littlefish I did suggest Talon but DH thought it was odd ( but Blaize is acceptable to him!!)
likeabadventcandle- love Florence but its the rabbits name! Have been toying with Rose for a middle name.
