DH and I both teachers and looking for quirky names!

My DH and I are both teachers and don't want a name that will remind us of any pupil in particular- so we need something quirky/unusual but not totally "out there"!
DS is 14 months and called Logan- a name which is unusual but not in the realms of wacky and everyone seems to love it.
DC2 due in August and we don't know the sex.
Any ideas?
We've come up with a couple:
Blake
Riley
Noah

Violet
Scarlet (I don't like but DH does!)
Summer (too corney for an August baby??)

Some I've heard on MN lately and like are
Pixie
Wren and
Spike.

StayForNoone · 17/02/2012 19:29

I like xavier! I have a friend called batman. Okay so it's not his Christian name but it suits! Grin

parttimedomesticgoddess · 17/02/2012 19:33

I know a family with a Fergus and an Evelyn (and don't know of any others that have used them)....

Naturally281110 · 17/02/2012 19:35

Is Wren a boy or girls name?
Pixie is very cute but worried it may not suit an adult (I know that TV Dr is called Pixie and it does suit her......).
Am mulling over Quentin and Xavier. Genevieve is a lovely name but could be shortend to Gen/Jen which we already have as a close family member, but great suggestion, thank you!

Family dog was called Fergus! But is a funky name. DH is looking very thoughtful over Evelyn- could be shortned to Eve or Evie and then its a kind of 2 for 1!! Bargain!

Lev for a boy, Margot for a girl

countessbabycham · 17/02/2012 19:43

I would say Wren is a girls name?

Flubba · 17/02/2012 19:44

Weird choices Pathan - how do you pronounce "Solange" (which translates as 'so long' in German)? Also what about Inigo?

suburbophobe · 17/02/2012 19:44

I know a Dylan, gorgeous lad! His mum is Arabic, not that that makes any difference....

I had a friend who years ago had two goldfish called Socrates and Einstein Grin

Chateauneuf · 17/02/2012 19:48

Blake and Logan have a sci-fi theme to me - Logan's Run and Blake's 7. I would think that was an intentional thing if someone told me their kids were Blake and Logan.

insanityscratching · 17/02/2012 19:50

Romilly and Merryn are girls names I love

what about Morgan or Jude?

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 17/02/2012 19:54

flubba

I think Solange is the name of Beyonce's sister, they say it as it's written really 'so-lange'.

Inigo is In-i-go (is that what you were asking?)

Inigo is getting more and more popular so I'd maybe avoid that if you're teachers as you may get a few coming through in a couple of years!

Selks · 17/02/2012 19:54

Ezra
Coran
Claude
Anders

Lara
Lila
Flora
Carys

startail · 17/02/2012 19:56

Ross
Carl
Daniel
Stephen

All totally unquirky, but nice named that tend to belong to people older than your pupils.

I wanted a Rebecca, bit she was DHs first GF

PestoPenguin · 17/02/2012 19:59

Maybe this depends where you live, but I know babies & small children locally called Emma, Rachel, Daniel, Stephen, David & Mark.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 17/02/2012 20:00

flubba, sorry, yes a bit different. I like Solange and Ruben, not keen on my other choices Grin.

Lorna for a girl.
Angelo for a boy?
