I need the best Scottish boys name in the world...

...to counteract the likelihood that his middle name will be -eek- Keith!!!

MN is after FIL (who is lovely, but whose name isn't, & who has no middle name!!).

First name needs to be Scottish as a family tradition. So I need the best, coolest, loveliest Scottish boy's name ever to distract from the awful MN!!

Thank you kindly. Really good ones please!!

Lewis and Innes were on my shortlist but I also love Angus

birdofthenorth · 29/06/2011 20:39

DD is Bess. I reckon it sounds bad alongside the 'Gus names... especially (Aberdeen) Angus -two cow names together!!

Loving Fraser & Lachlan

Aww bird ,Don't say that! My DD is a Cameron, Am hoping he will be dead and forgotten by the time she's older (Wishful thinking)

birdofthenorth · 29/06/2011 20:42

Hamish & Innes also excellent.

Innes Keith sounds bad though (as do most things followed by Keith!!)

Ok if not Angus, then how about Hamish truly the scottish name to beat all others.

And even, amazingly, goes quite well with Keith

5inthebed · 29/06/2011 20:44

Hamish?

birdofthenorth · 29/06/2011 20:44

I think Cameron is still fine and an excellent name... unless you & your DH both work in politics, and on the other side Blush

All our friends & colleagues would laugh sadly... bit like calling a Tory baby Miliband!!

Gregor or Fraser. Although any name (within reason) sounds good in a Scottish accent.

Kittyroo · 29/06/2011 20:49

Actually Struan is lovely. Would have liked that too but already one in the family. Struan Keith sounds maybe OK?

SamsGoldilocks · 29/06/2011 20:50

I think Hamish, but then i would, my boy is called Hamish.

Others i love: Gregor, Lewis, Fergus, Roddy, Euan

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 29/06/2011 21:08

Sholto - though I hear you're more likely to hear it London, than in the Highlands :)

We have an Angus, btw.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 29/06/2011 21:10

Oops - should've read the whole thread.

DS1's mn is Hamish. Love that too.

I like Lachlan a lot, too.

What about Murdo?

bananamom · 29/06/2011 21:12

Finlay and Angus are my favourites.

earlyriser · 29/06/2011 21:37

oooh i LOVE Murdo but you have to roll the 'r' so it sounds like Taggart (rest his soul) saying 'there has been a murrrrrrrrderrrrr'.

I was overrulled by Dh in calling ds Murdo, so he became Angus Grin

handsomeharry · 29/06/2011 21:39

I love Euan.

SybilBeddows · 29/06/2011 21:41

Iain is the best. And don't anyone dare say it's not, because it's my ds1's name.

birdofthenorth · 29/06/2011 21:41

Any thoughts on Brodie?
