Is the name Skyla really that bad??

I really like the name Skyla and the spelling, as i realise you can also spell it other ways, but not many people i have asked have liked then name and it's really made me confused as to whether i should just go ahead with what i like or choose a totally different name, which im finding very hard to choose as i really don't like most girl's names.
I called my other daughter Summer, which at the time 7 years ago was very unusual, but recently her name has become quite popular.
Im wondering if that might end up being the case with Skyla??
Is this name really that bad?

Duh. Just realised zombie.

17caterpillars1mouse · 05/04/2016 14:57

Its one of those names that's cute on a baby but you cant really take seriously above the age of 10.

OliviaDunham · 05/04/2016 15:06

Sorry it just says Breaking Bad me too, which although a great programme, she wasn't the best character (probably not important to you).

Qwebec · 07/04/2016 01:51

This thread has been zombified at least 4 times. Maybe a sign skyla is trending.

Burgatroyd · 07/04/2016 07:57

How about Starla like in Smashing Pumpkins?

DirtyBlonde · 07/04/2016 08:24

"How about Starla like in Smashing Pumpkins?"

For whom? It's over 5 years since OP posted, so I don't think she'll still be looking.

This is a ZOMBIE THREAD about name choices for a child who is now school age.

mouldycheesefan · 07/04/2016 08:36

Breaking bad.
That's what I think off when I hear the name.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 07/04/2016 08:38

The annual bump of this zombie thread is providing useful about who doesn't RTFT.

CradleCrapNap · 16/04/2016 21:15

You should always go with the name you love. But I'm afraid I'm in the strongly dislike it camp. But I do prefer classic, timeless names and would never pick anything that 'out there'.

YvaineStormhold · 16/04/2016 21:17

I like it.

Chottie · 17/04/2016 13:32

Yes, it is.

NNalreadyinuse · 17/04/2016 13:36

I like it. Think it is pretty.

twirlypoo · 17/04/2016 13:41

I don't know why, but this thread has me sitting here like > GrinGrinGrin

I am really only placemarking for the annual resurrection of it. See all you folks same time next year on here!

RattieOfCatan · 17/04/2016 14:35

I'm amazed that people are so vain that they look up their own fecking name on parenting sites and then join said sites to bitch to people who will never bloody see it because the thread is old. Seriously?!

To all future skylas, get a fucking grip. awaits 2017s resurrection

mudandmayhem01 · 17/04/2016 14:39

How does it hurt anyone resurrecting a baby name thread. I am considering getting a new guinea pig and this has inspired me to call it skyla.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 17/04/2016 14:51

Did the OP ever return to tell all the name she chose?

septembersunshine · 19/04/2016 20:42

But then your two girls will be Summer Sky...la. Just saying the two names together it does have that run though and in this instance 'Summer, Skyla' is much better then calling your girls at the same time (say you are calling them to you in the park)... 'Summer Skye'

Would not be my choice but it's your decision. It's most certainly not the worst name I could think of. In fact, there was a baby born on this Portland Hopsital show on the tv the other night and they called their very beautiful little girl Skyla.

1horatio · 19/04/2016 21:33

I prefer Schuyler, but I'm not American, so...
Skyla isn't truly horrible imo, but not something I particularly like, sorry.

Why not Sky? Or if you have any kind of Connection to Scotland (or just like the name Smile ) Skye?
I prefer Sky or Skye..

1horatio · 19/04/2016 21:37

Oops, just realised how old this thing is. Oh well, doesn't change my opinion.
I hope the op found a name they like for their kid (whatever that name happens to be) Smile

picklepie1 · 19/04/2016 22:02

I love the name!! So unique and pretty!

KateMichelle · 20/09/2016 19:52

I named my daughter Skyla Alexis, don't worry about what other people think its whether you like it or not. Personally i love it!!Smile

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 20/09/2016 19:56

Looks as if the annual bump of this zombie thread has become roughly 6-monthly

chinlo · 20/09/2016 20:04

What a bizarre zombie pattern.

MotherDuckSaid · 20/09/2016 20:26

too hippy for my liking , would it suit a grown woman ?

spankhurst · 20/09/2016 20:28

The only Skyla I've ever encountered was male.
