Is the name Skyla really that bad??

I really like the name Skyla and the spelling, as i realise you can also spell it other ways, but not many people i have asked have liked then name and it's really made me confused as to whether i should just go ahead with what i like or choose a totally different name, which im finding very hard to choose as i really don't like most girl's names.
I called my other daughter Summer, which at the time 7 years ago was very unusual, but recently her name has become quite popular.
Im wondering if that might end up being the case with Skyla??
Is this name really that bad?

I like it, and it doesn't sound made up. Probably not to me anyway because of Skyler White on Breaking Bad.

It also goes lovely with Summer.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 26/08/2014 21:35

Google says it's an IUD Hmm

OneLittleToddleTerror · 26/08/2014 21:43

Didn't notice the thread was so old. Was going to say it goes well with summer though.

WowserBowser · 27/08/2014 10:01

Do people not bother to read threads any more?

manicinsomniac · 27/08/2014 12:03

I like the name. Thought I think I prefer it with an r on the end. I wonder if the OP used it.

Why do people write ZOMBIE THREAD and get annoyed with themselves for missing the fact? So what if it's old? Surely it makes more sense to research past threads and use the same one rather than start a whole new one?

WowserBowser · 27/08/2014 12:54

Because it's so arrogant to assume that people so desparately want to hear your opinion that you don't have to read the thread. Obviously.

Skyla1010 · 23/03/2015 08:14

My name is skyla and I love it I know nobody with my name. It's beautiful and it doesn't sound bad. I don't get made fun of. It does suck when ppl accidentally call me skylar but honestly I wouldn't change my name ever. I have so many people tell me they love it or even say they wish they had my name.

Zahrah5 · 23/03/2015 09:21

I think the posters couple of years ago were wrong.

The name Isla which is pronounced same as Skyla except the S is ranking between top names. I think they are very similar

maplebaconchips · 23/03/2015 09:36

Unless you want an old lady's name like Edith or Mabel no name will be popular on mumsnet. I think Skyla is perfectly pretty and goes well with Summer.

UnderTheDeepBlueSea · 23/03/2015 09:37

ZOMBIE THREAD.

Are people really that incapable of looking at dates? FFS she would be about 4 now!

maplebaconchips · 23/03/2015 12:11

Gosh you are so much more observant than I am, deepblue! Thank you for pointing that out so clearly. Don't I feel silly.

kestramum · 11/04/2015 11:21

My daughter is called skyla-may and I love it lol she is nearly 8

seaoflove · 11/04/2015 12:26

This thread has been zombied twice by Mumsnetters searching for their own name Grin

If I bumped every thread slagging off my name, I'd be here all day...

LeoandBoosmum · 14/04/2015 02:44

It's really harsh-sounding. I have to say I hate it, even more than I hate Taylor and Tyler and that's saying something, sorry!

Skyla826 · 04/04/2016 15:51

Skyla is a beautiful name.In fact that is my name. Everywhere I go people tell me what a beautiful name I have. You name your kid what you want to. Go for Skyla!!!!

ZOMBIE

The child in question would have been named over 5 years ago.

GingerLeaves · 04/04/2016 16:02

I don't really like it, but I wouldn't say it was bad. However, I don't like your chosen spelling! Skye is lovely though Smile

GingerLeaves · 04/04/2016 16:04

Oh, FFS Grin

coughingbean · 04/04/2016 16:30

I notice how it's only people called skyla(r) resurrecting this thread Hmm
Although I have posted on it now so that makes me nearly as bad Sad

nectarini1983 · 04/04/2016 21:08

I like it. Apparently there's some game of thrones connection though so beware of that.

Vikkijayne2507 · 05/04/2016 13:19

I like it, wasn't it a name on breaking bad.

heron98 · 05/04/2016 14:22

I don't mind it, actually.

A lot better than some of the shit names that get suggested on here.

DirtyBlonde · 05/04/2016 14:27

It won't have been a name on Breaking Bad in the context of this thread, as the child in question will be 5 by now.

Though 'Zombie-Skyla' has a certain je ne sais qui.

notagiraffe · 05/04/2016 14:30

The name instantly reminds me of Breaking Bad, even though the spelling is different. Which would put me off. But it's up to you. It sounds pretty enough.
