DD is #147 (up from 134 since 2008) and I am #24 (up from 23 since 2008).

I knew my name would be really high on the list but I'm surprised DD's is as high as it is - didn't expect that.

nooka · 28/10/2010 06:12

The nns for both my children are in the top 10 now. For some reason the year that dd was born (2000) there aren't any stats, but for ds only 234 other boys had the same name. The nn was more popular even then though (which personally I find very odd, but there you go).

loueytbg · 28/10/2010 09:25

icapture my MIL is called Pearl and her sister is called Ruby. How freaky!!

Thanks for this emmylou am going to save the spreadsheet for future perusal. I've just found out I'm pg and with 2 boys already, we will have a nightmare with boys names....

InGodWeTrust · 28/10/2010 10:40

I'm soooo glad my ds's name isn't on there. Glad I was being original...My name and my dh's name are both in the top 10...as are my grandparents, Jack & Jessica.

thell · 28/10/2010 11:13

Thanks for giving instructions on the searching functions and tabs - brilliant!
DD is down at 556, which I find bizarrely pleasing. And it's not even a Kre8tiv name!

Can anyone tell me where Elijah is? And if it has moved at all?

bytheMoonlight · 28/10/2010 11:26

I've found the 6th tab, now how do I search for a particular name? Blush

KenDoddsDadsZombieDogsNotDead · 28/10/2010 11:39

Find and select in excel

brittan76 · 28/10/2010 12:16

Elijah is at position 140 with 419 births.

Last year it was at 136 with 421 births.

PS if you press control the F you will be able to search for a name

bytheMoonlight · 28/10/2010 12:49

Control and F works and thanks for looking brittan Smile

Psychommead · 28/10/2010 13:00

Yay! DDs name is not in the top 200.

CatBumMouth · 28/10/2010 13:05

The fecking DM have riled me right up with their anti-Islam take on it [seethe]

Am I right in thinking that the 14 babies not given a name & some given the name 'baby' either were not registered in time or sadly in some instances may not have made it (sorry for emotive subject).

mopsyflopsy · 28/10/2010 22:08

Wow, those lists are interesting. More than 5000 different girls names were used last year and almost as many different boys names....

mopsyflopsy · 28/10/2010 22:09

Does anyone know whether the names include names given as middle names?

meadowlarks · 28/10/2010 23:05

10 boys named J? I mean...J? Who are these people? My chosen names are still smugly way way down the spreadsheet. Grin

clare8888 · 28/10/2010 23:09

My little girls name is top 10, it nearly put me off choosing it but in the end I'm glad we stuck with it. What I can't get over is the fact there were only 12 Clare's (and 66 Claire's) in the whole country! When I was at school there were 4 in my class!

stressSeveredHeadOnaStickEric · 28/10/2010 23:19

78 girls called Precious...

Can't imagine many of their mums are MNers.

And anyway, Topsy..?

thell · 29/10/2010 13:28

Oh Catbum, maybe you are right about the 'Baby' s - I hadn't thought of that. I just saw it on the girls' list and went Hmm, but that's so sad.

I remember panicking about the naming dilemma in case of disaster when preg with DD1.

thell · 29/10/2010 13:30

I think names like 'Precious' tend to be more common in Afican / Caribbean communities.

My MIL has a variety of carers who help her with her disabled husband, many with interesting names...
Precious (f)
Trinity (m)
Julius Caesar (m)

smilingserenely · 29/10/2010 22:30

4 girls called phoebe-lee . too like feebly for my taste but each to his own.

rachel1970 · 29/10/2010 22:32

I'm also curious whether the names listed include 2nd or 3rd names, or whether they are only first names (and no middle names)? Does anyone know?

tummytickler · 29/10/2010 22:34

My 5 year old dd is Pearl. I was pleased there was only 111 of them (and only 28 of ds's name)

I was surprised there was only 30 Daphne's though. I am sure it is 'up and coming'!

4 poor little girls called Rogue . . . poor little buggers.

pickler · 29/10/2010 22:37

Only 1st names.

SpringHeeledJack · 29/10/2010 22:38

woo hoo!

none of mine are in there

[smug]

rachel1970 · 29/10/2010 22:39

Thanks pickler Smile.

Then the other 12 boys named the same name as DS are actually named the same (rather than have the name hidden somewhere amongst middle names).
