What is a reasonable gradient do you think? DD's is up 3 in 2 years and 15 in 10.

I think anything that goes up by more than five places in one year is rising too fast. JMO. doesn't mean it's not still a perfectly good name.

It's on the 6th tab of the spreadsheet. There is every name given to a girl or boy on that worksheet.

DS was one of 454 boys born last year with his name (at number 130).

Hope it doesn't climb any higher- I like him having a normal but not too popular name.

I wonder how many of the 154 Nialls are in Sunderland. Lots in DDs nursery due to the fabulous Niall Quinn.

So 14 girls weren't given a name at all last year?

That's interesting that 6th tab! I added together all the spellings of my dd's name and it came to just under 900 babies given the name (with one of the spelligns) and then I looked to see what rank of name equated to 900 babies given a name and it was number 70.

Can't open the spreadsheet for some reason but have found the top 100 on google. I am pleasantly surprised that Zak does not make the top 100. It's my 2 year old's name and there seems to have been loads of little Zaks born since. I know Zachary is there but still surprised by the absence of Zak. My baby's name is number 15 though. Commoner!

Thanks alot. Not that many at all then - though I suppose with all the different spellings, it would place much higher.

With all the spellings of Zac/Zak/Zach/Zach it is around number 48 with over 1600. Zachary quite alot lower. I also noticed it is popular lately.

My grandmother was a Pearl and her sister Ruby - Ruby really disliked and changed it to Rue - wonder what she would think to see Ruby so popular and also 111 Pearls.

86 boys called Anas! I can imagine what they'll get at school.

Dd3's name is still well outside top 100 - though it comes up quite often on here. Dd2's name is outside the top 1000 and dd1 in the 700s.
