Not been around much again, life just keeps getting in the way of crafting!

I have started making up my weekly "to do lists" again on my blog, but not having much sucess with them at the moment!

I have been promising to sew up the girle teddy I have knitted, but it hasn't happened YET. BUT my mum has made one that I just love, she has a dainty little pointed nose...in fact you could adapt the ears and pop on a tail and she could pass as a mouse..BUT I love her...I MUST finish my one!!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 01/05/2008 14:26

hi - not much crafting but i have blogged here

actually i have done a bit of altered art thanks to dingle{thankyou} who very kindly sent me some great stamped images i'll do photo's later and blog these too.

last night i was a very bad girl and tried out my new creditcard [first one ever] and bought 7 yards of fabric from america - i completely blame gingermonkey and her amazing little quilts!

Nbg · 01/05/2008 15:30

Well I'm glad none of you wanted any bits from Laura Ashley because I didnt go

I've had a quick look at all your bits and its all lovely.
I'm going to come back and comment on them later.
Have to go now as ds2 is really poorly. Dh has taken him to the dr's again for a new inhaler

chrissnow · 01/05/2008 15:40

actually crafted and blogged!! please don't flame me for cricked necks, could not for the life of me change the photos to portrait!!!

Oh nbg hope ds is feeling better soon.

chrissnow · 01/05/2008 15:44

O M G Vintageviolet - that exact same cabinet is in my spare untidy pit craft room awaiting my tlc to make it into a beautiful jewellery box for dds. Lets do a challenge!! I challenge everyone to find one and make something out of it!!! ha ha ha!!!

chrissnow · 01/05/2008 15:57

Oh and vintage I thought of you today. My mom goes to a 'young at heart' club. Yesterday they had a talk and display from a mother of pearl expert (one of only 2 left in the country apparently) he had loads of buttons, jewellery etc and I just thought of you. He's offered them a factory tour as well as they were all oooing and aaahing.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 01/05/2008 16:17

i wanna see his buttons

i'll take you up on that challenge chrissnow but i have to start on my doll swap like yesterday

chrissnow · 01/05/2008 16:21

I'll see if I can get the info off my mom and see if he has a website or anything.

Tillyboo · 01/05/2008 23:24

Sorry it's late everyone, I'm just off to the land of nod but wanted to blog, Wonkey,Donkey, Horsey' before I went up.

She's going in my Etsy shop tomorrow and plan to make some more if she's well received. I just love dreaming up new characters.

Night, night all.

lucykate · 01/05/2008 23:40

we're still up, dh not long since got back from london, have just spotted my eye patch tutorial has been featured on craftzine, only they've got my name as being lucky kate , thankfully the link is right.

my toadstool has also been featured on feeling stitchy as well as plush you

have been making some more felted bags today, 3 on the go all for birthday presents, although i had a slight ironing accident and there is a yellow smudge from the bottom of the iron across the front of one of them, so will probably not use that one. have changed the design to make them easier/quicker to make.

next priority is a hair cut, it's grown so much recently i don't know where it's all coming from!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 02/05/2008 00:22

i blogged some more

jeangenie · 02/05/2008 00:47

hey VV - love the stampy things, and the bag dizzy made you, and the new buttons, and and and...how do you get that lovely effect on your brown luggage taggy things? I have been looking at the one you sent me and thinking "tea" but I dipped one of mine in tea and it didn't end up looking like yours...c'mon...what's the secret???

TB VERY pretty donkey

LK congrats - thanks for link to the stitchy blog too...discovered the flickr embroidery pool through that, which is fab (like I need MORE internet inspiration to while away my working day and every evening looking at )

can't sleep...am up eating cornflakes and drinking rooibush ... kinda fun really

chrissnow · 02/05/2008 07:36

Thanks for the comments on my blog!!! I got all excited!!

dizzyday07 · 02/05/2008 09:01

All I've done over the last few days is finish a pair of curtains as DD gave me her tonsilitis (even though I don't have any!!)

I did receive a gift in the post though

Nbg · 02/05/2008 09:31

Just had a look at everyones bits and pieces and left comments.
Its all lovely stuff.

JG, I think for the tag effect that you want you need to soak a tea bag, squeeze the excess water out leave it to dry off a bit then dab it on the tag.
Thats how I was taught to do it anyway.
I could send you plenty of old tea bags as dh only drinks tea and insists it is made in a teapot for every cup

It turns out that ds2 is fine. The Dr said there is nothing wrong with him despite the fact he spent virtually the whole night before screaming which isnt like him at all and coughing and wheezing
He's also come out in red patches that are really dry and look like burns but its all to do with him being run down apparently

So anyway today I just need to add one last touch to the doll for the swap and yesterday I found a whole new sheet of fabric and felt and it is absolutely perfect to make LK's toadstool so I'm going to have a go at that later and possibly make a little fairy to go with it
I should be sorting things for the holiday since we go on Tuesday but never mind.

lucykate · 02/05/2008 11:25

i did toy with the idea of starting a toadstool swap, a 'follow the tutorial but personalise it as much as you want' thing, but was a bit worried that everyone would be a bit all swapped out atm.

where's gm?, sometimes i wish our router would break, just think of all the actual sewing i'd get done

Nbg · 02/05/2008 11:35

Oooh yeah do it LK!
It would be great!

I am going to do lunch and throw ds1 in bed, then make a start on it.

Tilly, just wanted to let you know that I've just found out Disney have made a Rapunzel film and its out in 2010
Looks good!

chrissnow · 02/05/2008 11:43

I'm not swapped out!!(having never done one) I think I could just about manage a toadstool.
Question for resident knitting experts. Bought some amazing wool lovely. how do you knit with it? Have tried twice or is it just a knack and you have to practice?

Tillyboo · 02/05/2008 12:41

Nbg - Really ? Wonder who'll play Rapunzel ?
Can't wait for that, maybe I'd better get some more towers in the shop.
It's just finding the time, they are quite time consuming.

Thanks for the info ... dd will be very excited !

Nbg · 02/05/2008 12:43

No its an animated version.

Let me see if I can find the website again.

Nbg · 02/05/2008 12:48

Heres a few stills of it.

The tower is great.
Just how I picture it in my mind.

Its out Christmas 2010 but some sites are saying 2009.
There are about 3 very short clips on you tube too but Disney are trying to get rid them.

Miaou · 02/05/2008 13:41

Chrissnow - just had a quick look on ravelry (are you a member yet?). I put in "patons whisper" into the yarn section and it brought up 22 projects done in that yarn. A few people comment that it is hard to work with, principally because it's difficult to see if you have the stitches correct. Needles recommended is 4mm - 5mm. Most people seem to have made scarves/cushion covers, with the odd monkey/rabbit/cat toy thrown in! You do need to be a member though to view the site.

Miaou · 02/05/2008 13:46

Any more swaps will have to have a deadline of the end of June at the earliest if I've any chance of taking part

I put my lion slippers into the booties comp!

I agree about the Rapunzel tower nbg, I am not usually a fan of anything disney but I (grudgingly ) acknowledge that they've got that one spot on

Must go and get on with my doll swap doll now ...
