Hi @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba. Welcome. Help yourself to calorie free tea and cake!

Thanks @sophs29. Its a bit fiddly and my hands and wrists are playing up again.

My fingers keep 'locking' and I have to use the other hand to straighten them again. My mum was recently diagnosed with dupuytrens contracture and it can be hereditary. Sad I've got drs next week so I've added it to my long list of issues to discuss. Grin

lazylinguist · 15/08/2021 17:51

Hi Zing! How's it going?

I've got a bit of my shawl knitted while the rain has been hammering down on the tent - every cloud has a silver lining!

Oh no @CrochetBug I hope you haven't got that 😣 how does your mum get on with her knitting bless her?

Oh @lazylinguist at least you can find the positives! I'm personally not a camper, I love a caravan etc, but could not sleep in a tent! However I bet the sound of the rain on the tent is so relaxing!

lazylinguist · 15/08/2021 19:19

It is relaxing, it's a lovely sound! I'm currently chiling out in the tent in my blanket hoodie with the dog and the dc while dh cooks. Beach tomorrow, weather permitting. I was an initially reluctant convert to camping, but I loooove our tent. Big circular central living area with 3 double bedroom pods around the outside. And a carpet. Grin Stunning coastal views between the periods of heavy rain today.

@lazylinguist I'm a camper too! We've started going again and I love it. My DD who isn't that outdoorsy loves going too.

Today I've started a c2c in the hayfield spirit yarn. Love how it's working up- I only bought a couple of skeins as I had the birthday voucher from hobby craft. (Sorry for the dark pic). Ive given up on even trying to do the bloody Cardigan I was attempting for now.

Hope you've all had a nice Sunday xx

CrochetBug · 15/08/2021 20:35

I love the sound of rain. Especially on a tent roof! Hate a wet pack with a passion though!

Not sure how my mum knits tbh. She said something about using a stress ball in her hand to stop herself bending her fingers too much. I think she spends less time doing it than me which probably helps too. Blush

@itsme Hayfield Spirit is lovely yarn. I made a granny square shrug with it.

lucysmam · 15/08/2021 21:16

Your square's pretty @CrochetBug 😍

Hey Zing 👋

Your tent sounds better than my house lazy!

I've had a more productive day today. Lots of stuff sorted, with my friend, for back to Rainbows, Brownies, and Guides in 3 weeks. 3 rows of jumper and almost a full fingerless glove. I'd have finished the glove barring sewing up but it got a bit dark.

I'm thinking about frogging my gloves now though; this one's so much neater! I suppose that's what comes with practise/repetition. It's good to see progress :)

sophs29 · 16/08/2021 08:00

Wow @lazylinguist that does sound like a good tent 😱 plus amazing views!!

@CrochetBug yes that probably does help! ☺️😂 when my mum was younger she got tennis elbow from knitting 😂

@itsme even in the dark I can see how beautiful that's going to be! Such lovely yarn and stitches!

Thenameisweasley · 16/08/2021 08:03

Had anyone used scheepjes chunky monkey? Eyeing some up and wondering how soft it is. I generally don't enjoy using acrylic but it looks nice!

tizwozliz · 16/08/2021 08:04

OH has bought a bell tent as he's decided puppy teeth and lightweight mountaineering tent don't mix. We're giving it a test run this weekend.

My aim for the week is to sew in the ends of a blanket I completed some time ago so we can take it with us. I might even put a border on it. I've learned from that mistake and subsequent blankets I do ends periodically, so I'm never left with a whole blanket of ends again.

@Thenameisweasley

it's very very soft!
I love Scheepjes as a brand but I don't love all if their yarn: Our Tribe is very itchy, Softfun feels very rubbery and there's another (can't remember which one) that just feels like really squeaky, cheap acrylic.
I'm quite fussy, I know.
But I highly recommend Chunky Monkey. it's gorgeous

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/08/2021 10:28

I checked it and it was Namaste that was squeaky. like chalk on a board

Thenameisweasley · 16/08/2021 12:21

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba have ordered some chunky monkey! Thank you Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/08/2021 12:37

ooh what colours did you get? and what are you making?

I've almost finished a Candy's Hug, but got swollen armpit (ouch) from 2nd jab so today I'm cutting up some fabric for patchwork instead.

hey lucy & linguist! and thanks for the warm woolcome @CrochetBug

I started a thread a few years back about different colour palettes... if anyone needs help with with colour choices/combos let me know!

sophs29 · 16/08/2021 12:45

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba that blanket is amazing! LOVE the colours! Hope your armpit feels better and less swollen soon!

I've just been to town and found this in the charity shop, never used it before but it's very soft!

@sophs29

nice find!
and thanks

Thenameisweasley · 16/08/2021 13:10

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba two balls of white and a shade card to determine my next plan. I'm off work sick at the minute awaiting surgery for a tubo ovarian abscess and I don't have the energy for anything other than granby square blankets! So that's the plan when it arrives.

lucysmam · 16/08/2021 19:41

I've brought my crochet and cuppa up to bed. I'm fed up with everything tonight.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 16/08/2021 21:09

Sorry you’re feeling fed up lucysmam.

My shawl is massive! I have another 10 rows but I’m not going all the way to the end, it would just be too big. That’s what happens when you swap aran for super chunky Grin I did want it chunkier and bigger than the pattern (and laziness for not adding extra rounds in aran), so it’s not this big through a cock up Grin I’m trying to work out whether to do another 3 rounds to balance out the colours a bit but it will make it another 20cm or so wider. Can a shawl ever be too wide?

lucysmam · 16/08/2021 21:54

Thanks InTheNight :) It'll pass.

Your shawl sounds snuggly. Have you a picture?

I've done 6 rows of my jumper tonight, could probably have carried on but my eyes were getting tired & dd1 kept coming to sit with me & show me cute animal pics on Pinterest.

CrochetBug · 16/08/2021 22:20

Hope you're feeling more normal tomorrow @lucysmam.

An oversized snuggly shawl sounds lovely @InTheNightWeWillWish!

Thenameisweasley · 17/08/2021 06:44

Picture? @InTheNightWeWillWish it sounds lovely. I don't think it can ever be too big Grin

lazylinguist · 17/08/2021 07:33

Hope you've cheered up, lucysmam! I'm in my lovely warm sleeping bag listening to the cows mooing in the next field, drinking a nice cup of tea delivered by dh. The dc are still asleep. Time for a bit of knitting!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 17/08/2021 09:51

Here is my shawl at the moment. I don’t think I’m going to add the extra 3 rows as it should finish on the blue. So I just need to add a fringe, because it’s not quite big enough Grin
