Thank you. I've got a good feeling about this one !

We’ve got our all crochet hooks and knitting needles crossed for you lazy. Hopefully they don’t take too long to get back to you though because we all have many WIPs we need those hooks and needles for! Grin

CrochetBug · 28/04/2021 14:29

@lucysmam these are the heart buttons I have left if any of those colours are what you need?

lucysmam · 28/04/2021 21:52

Could I have the purple ones please, if you're not likely to use them?

I'm back in counting corner 🙄 It's taken me 3 bobble rows on the jumper to realise I'd acquired an extra stitch . Frogged & re-wound to go again tomorrow.

CrochetBug · 28/04/2021 21:58

Of course, how many do you need? Just send me your address and I'll get them in the post Smile

BookShark · 28/04/2021 22:23

Congratulations and good luck on the various job opportunities - hooks duly crossed!

I've decided to take the day off tomorrow and go for a mooch around town buying things I don't need and probably won't use for ages. Very much looking forward to it - any suggestions for unnecessary craft equipment? Otherwise it'll be wool and fabric.

And a big fat hook for making the basket, even though I'm still unsure on my colour options!

eitak22 · 29/04/2021 05:20

@lazylinguist Hope the visit and job application goes well.

@BookShark I'd probably buy a kit for a new craft but then I have far too many I do. Otherwise pretty wool and buttons.

Currently up feeling rotten post vaccine, aches/chills and headache. Hoping it goes soon.

sophs29 · 29/04/2021 08:07

Ooh @BookShark sounds like a lovely day! I can't wait to mooch around the shops again! Have a great time and be sure to update us on your purchases Grin

My DS wasn't even at nursery for his whole first week before he picked up a chest infection bless him, now our whole household is ill! So I'm just feeling sorry for myself and for my boys with no energy to do anything!

lucysmam · 29/04/2021 10:10

@CrochetBug I'll pop you a pm, thank you!

@BookShark enjoy your day. I think I'd just buy whatever takes my fancy while I'm out and about tbh.

Dd1's year has 2 confirmed covid cases this week & one of dd2's classmates is waiting on test results. The younger ones are "my" bubble at school...can't say I'm thrilled by the thought of another fortnight of Teams schooling so fingers crossed his results come back negative 🤞

I've been productive this morning so am just sitting down with a coffee and my jumper to see if I can at least get the first row of bobbles sorted before I go back to school.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 29/04/2021 11:28

Ooh, sounds fun BookShark, I'd go for more hooks and needles, tape measures or fabric scissors... I've noticed no matter how many needles I have, I always need the ones I'm already using. The solution is obviously more needles rather than less WIPs Grin

Hope you feel better soon eitak22 and sophs and fingers crossed lucysmam!

I got good news for it feels like the first time in ages, DS2 got the nursery school place we wanted for him for September. It's such a relief!

Saw a new pattern that looks like an interesting knit for stash busting too! Look at this 😍 I look like my great granny when I wear shawls rather than a tall glamourous New Yorker but I think this would be amazing to wrap up with in winter.

Visit went brilliantly - I had a long and productive chat with the Head. I think unless I mess up badly in the interview lesson, this one's practically got my name on it .

In other news, my basket is coming along really well! You can see the fade from the grey/white/yellow/teal through the grey/white/yellow to the current grey/white. I should have enough of the grey to get to nearly the top, then have the top section with the handle in white.

Yay! That's wonderful lazy!

Your basket looks brilliant too, it looks very deliberate in the colours!

lazylinguist · 29/04/2021 12:57

Thanks Flavia!

I really like the basket lazy looks very deliberate and not at all like a scrap buster! Glad the tour went well and it’s sounds like you’ve already got them hooked (sorry awful pun Grin).

bookshark hope you’ve had a lovely break away from teams and zoom in craft shops! Looking forward to hearing what you came back with.

BookShark · 29/04/2021 13:38

Oh dear, I feel I'll have to disappoint you all. I came back with a jigsaw and a top, but no craft stuff. John Lewis wasn't quite inspiring enough, and my sensible head kept reminding me how much stuff I already had so didn't actually need more. Isn't that always the way when you go out to deliberately spoil yourself?!

On the plus side, it was lovely and sunny this morning so I decided to walk in along the river - you can have photos of that instead! So at least I burned enough calories to justify the strawberry milkshake I bought for the walk home. And now I'm chilling on the sofa - wish I could move to part-time and have days like this more often.

Lazy that sounds promising, fingers crossed for you. I like how you've done the colours so they're not really random, that's a really good idea that I may steal!

And sympathy to those of you with children back at home - or nearly. I remember those early nursery years, DS seemed to catch something every week. Stock up on Calpol!

Thanks for the lovely comments about my basket - yes it definitely looks a bit more planned than it actually was. Grin

Beeeauuutiful photos, BookShark! Can't believe you were so restrained on the craft stuff- it's annoying when you want to treat yourself but can't find anything that you love enough to feel justified buying it!

OP posts:
sophs29 · 29/04/2021 14:20

@BookShark the photos are lovely so I'm sure we can forgive you for not spoiling yourself..just this once Grin

I know poor boy, he's never been ill or had to go to the doctors for anything in his life (apart from immunisations)! So I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old poorly and I'm not used to it Sad hopefully a restful weekend will make us all better!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 29/04/2021 15:11

bookshark lovely photos of the river and at least you treated yourself to a strawberry milkshake Grin

Aww sophs hopefully the weekend helps everyone get better.

lucysmam · 29/04/2021 19:11

@BookShark that looks like a beautiful walk!

Lazy you sound really upbeat about this job; fingers crossed you're successful 🤞

I've done 5 rows of the bobble section; counted properly this time! Maybe I was tired last night 🤷‍♀️ Hopefully I'll get another couple done tonight.

eitak22 · 29/04/2021 20:23

book glad you treated yourself to something, I find I often do that when I can treat myself - talk myself out of it. What puzzle did you get?

Lucy that looks so neat, glad the counting is OK.

lazylinguist · 29/04/2021 20:26

Aww sophs* - I hope everyone's better soon!

Inspired by BookShark's pretty landscape photos, here's the view out of my window this evening. It's not a spectacularly colourful sunset compared with some we get across the bay and it's hard to get a sharp photo, but it's quite pretty colours I think!*

The bazillion pins are so I can see that my edges are straight Grin. I've nearly run out though so either need to buy more or find something cheap as chips to use in their place.

Kate105 · 29/04/2021 20:30

Sounds good @lazylinguist fingers crossed this is the one for you! 🤞🏻

So I keep coming back to Lazy's crochet basket stash buster... but I hate crochet. Those of you who do crochet, does it seem like an easier way to try crochet again?! I'm thinking big hook = fast work?!

lazylinguist · 29/04/2021 20:53

It does go fast with a bigger hook. The only thing I would say is that it's designed to be crocheted really pretty tight in order to achieve a reasonably stiff fabric. So it's a little bit hard on the fingers because you have to push and pull quite hard on the hook!

OP posts:
InTheNightWeWillWish · 30/04/2021 11:03

kate big hook is quicker. I learnt to crochet with a big hook and some horrible chunky wool my mum sent me. I found it useful because you can see your stitches a bit clearer. I’ve just had a quick google and it appears there’s a few knit patterns though for baskets, they might just not be stash busters though.
