Thank you @Myshitisreal just checking in so I don't lose you all!

Oh wow @BookShark that is very impressive.

I've decided to start a ripple stitch blanket using a blossom crochet YouTube tutorial. Haven't quite worked out how to follow a written pattern yet so find video tutorials really useful.

I'm choosing some colours now. This probably isn't the best yarn but it's nice and cheap! I can't work a real job due to my full time placement hours and I've got a big old mortgage to pay so need to keep costs down where I can.Blush

Hoping these colours work ok together, unsure if I'll keep the white? It might help break it up a bit.

Any suggestions welcome!

Hi @PandemicPalava - welcome to the thread! I must be even more behind the curve as I'm not aware of pocket shawls!

OP posts:
lazylinguist · 25/04/2021 17:52

Ooh yes, they look like a very good thing to make!

Welcome pandemicpalava

I think those colours look great together badat I have some WI yarn and it’s nice and soft. You can get some nice yarns that are cheap.

I’m trying to get my crojo back, so I’ve done some more of the Phoenix blanket but MN won’t let me upload a photo at the minute!

sophs29 · 25/04/2021 18:28

Oooh they'd look lovely in the bathroom @lazylinguist when I made my soup bowl cozy things I shared way back in another thread I only used 2 strands but they came together so quickly and it felt so chunky I loved doing them!

@badatcrochet1996 I love those colours! And I agree the white will break them up! a lot of us on here use wool warehouse online - there's various discount codes but I use RAV10 for 10% discount! Smile

Welcome @PandemicPalava Grin pocket shawls look so handy!

Belated Happy Birthday @eitak22

It's my birthday next week, wondering what crochet related things I should treat myself to.

lucysmam · 25/04/2021 19:49

@eitak22 another belated "happy birthday" from me 🎂!

@badatcrochet1996 I've ordered from Deramores the last couple of times I've bought yarn. They do free delivery on orders over £20 & the Hayfield Bonus dk is about £1.80 ish on there. Might stretch your budget a little further maybe. I do like the colours you've picked though & would keep the white.

@tizwozliz I think I'm going to ask for a light up hook when the C word rolls around.

Hello @PandemicPalava :) I still have a pocket shawl on my to-make list. I do like a nice, snuggly shawl/wrap thing!

@lazylinguist your jumper's looking very nice; the colour change was a good one imo.

I've been playing about with the jumper pattern I'd been sulking about & think I have it sussed. So, I've started the ribbing portion again. 🤞 so far, it's actually looking a better size than before and only slightly taller than the gauge swatch suggests but that should be ok I think since I was planning to extend it slightly anyway. I'll just stick to the 30 rows rather than add extra.

Kate105 · 25/04/2021 20:18

Oooh @lazylinguist both WIPs look fab! Love the colour combo of the jumper. I think I recognise that pattern but can't quite put my finger on where right now... Also love the baskets... might be nice for baby's room! 👀 where is that pattern from? Mind you I really don't like crochet so this is probably a non starter 😂😂😂

InTheNightWeWillWish · 25/04/2021 20:22

Phoenix blanket so far (if MN lets me...)

That’s coming along nicely InTheNight lovely colours.

sophs29 · 25/04/2021 20:58

Wow @InTheNightWeWillWish Shock that is stunning!!

Leaningtoweroflisa · 25/04/2021 21:10

Aha, so here’s where I left my nice cable needle! Hi everyone, lovely to admire all the WIPs, and dream of more yarn... 20% off weekend on love crafts, my shopping basket is full of dreams.

Still not finished my jumper, did finish and present workshop yesterday, very tired today. No energy for gardening despite the lush weather but managing a few rows on a cowl, if turns out nice, will be MIL’s birthday present.

lazylinguist · 25/04/2021 22:28

Kate105 Here is the basket pattern.

Kate105 · 26/04/2021 07:24

Thank you @lazylinguist !

That's looking lovely @InTheNightWeWillWish 😊

Kate105 · 26/04/2021 07:25

Yes! Jennifer Steingass! It's all come back to me now 😂 I love her stuff!

lazylinguist · 26/04/2021 08:19

Me too - I can definitely see myself making more of her stuff in the future!

I've already run out of the teal in my yarns for the crochet basket, so I've added in a second strand of grey. I'm going to run out of the mustard very shortly too, so I'm thinking a sort of fade into grey and white as I go up, followed by the top in just grey or just white. I could jusy go random like the original design and add red, pink etc but that's not very me. Grin

OP posts:
sophs29 · 26/04/2021 09:12

When you first said about doing the top in one colour @lazylinguist I instantly thought white, and now you've said about a slight gradient going up I think that will look really good!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 26/04/2021 12:35

Ooo I like the idea of a gradual fade up to either grey or white. As much as I love colour, I think the original design is a bit busy! I’ve got some green left over from the dragon blanket I made (but not enough for another blanket) so I was thinking of making some little baskets but I think I need some yellow or white to balance it out a bit. The point is that you’re not meant to be buying more wool for that project though Grin

lucysmam · 26/04/2021 15:20

I've just done a whole row of bricks, before coming to meet dd2 on the park, & realised when I put it down to come out that they're leaning to one side 🙄 so I'll frog it before I pack up to do tea.

lazylinguist · 26/04/2021 15:48

Sympathies, @lucysmam! I haven't been in counting corner for a while, but only because I'm going so slowly and carefully with one WIP and the other one doesn't really require counting!

The point is that you’re not meant to be buying more wool for that project though

Yep. I think this is practically the only project I'll have ever done entirely from my stash. Grin

OP posts:
lucysmam · 26/04/2021 15:51

I've had to go allllll the way back to the start of the row - it was the 3rd brick that I made that was the problem . Both girls have vanished upstairs to shower & make beds though so I should be able to get it done before I cook tea.

Full English tonight . Not had one in ages & I've been looking forward to it all day 😋

lazylinguist · 26/04/2021 16:16

Mmmm full English! Undecided what we're having tonight. Full fridge as I went to Aldi this morning. I'm a bit restricted atm with doing gluten and dairy free, but full English would work! Although it turns out some of my symptoms might be down to a supplement I've been taking Shock.

Dh just requested I send him the pattern for the scrap yarn basket. He has a colleague who's a really keen knitter and crocheter and he was telling her about it so she asked for the pattern. I'm surprised he takes enough notice of what I'm making to be able to tell other people tbh. Grin

OP posts:
NiceCardigan · 26/04/2021 16:46

I got the job I had an interview for last week!! It must have been all the crossed fingers and good luck vibes from you all. A full English sounds tempting but think I’ll go for something fizzy and alcoholic.

lucysmam · 26/04/2021 16:57

Ooh, something fizzy and alcoholic is definitely called for NiceCardigan! Congratulations 🥂

My fridge, and freezers, are heaving Blush. Quite how I manage to stock up so much sometimes baffles me, but it does mean no shop needed this week so the money can be used for something more exciting!

I fixed my row & did another! Dd1's just got in the shower now so I'll make a start on tea.
