I made a little jumper for my DN and it was very cute (even if I do say it myself) but I don't think she even wore it once. My DSIL is lovely but is more into leopard print than knitwear and there's an awful lot of leopard print baby stuff around at the minute. But I'm guilty of shoving gifted babygrows that were covered in moustaches and slogans into the bottom of the wash basket and leaving them there when mine were wee so I'd be a hypocrite if I said anything Grin

InTheNightWeWillWish that sounds wonderful!

That is cute sophs29!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 24/04/2021 20:21

That looks brilliant though petridishmystery, if you're not happy with the sewing up you could always unpick the seams and redo them, it seems a shame not to get to show it off!

tizwozliz · 24/04/2021 20:25

Your x-stitch crochet looks so good @sophs29 I'm still not convinced I do mine right as it ends up much more angled than that.

I might when I’ve had some sewing practice! It was a little snug and I’m trying to lose weight so I might revisit it in a few months lol
sophs29 · 24/04/2021 20:50

Oh thank you @tizwozliz I bet when I go to do a different project now though it will feel strange doing it the "normal"^^ way! Yours always looks so good! it was the inspiration from yours that made me want to try them BlushGrin

Scoobygang7 · 24/04/2021 20:54

Everyone's stuff looks great.

How often do you buy wool to find its made of at least 2 different lengths of yarn? I've had 4 balls so far that have a knot in where the correct weight has been created this way. Is it normal and to be expected?

sophs29 · 24/04/2021 21:11

@Scoobygang7 it's hardly happened to me so when it did the first time I was so confused 😂 but its only been a handful of times so I don't know how normal it is really!

Scoobygang7 · 24/04/2021 21:36

@sophs29 I initially thought maybe a faulty ball. Now it's happenedmore than a couple of times it's made me question it.

lucysmam · 24/04/2021 21:55

Scooby, I think it's just where a new massively long length has been attached to the machine that balls the yarn, either because of breakage or it's run out, so shouldn't happen too often but will occurr every now and again.

Would one of you please check I'm working on row 12? The one with just the three stitches. I think I've forgotten to mark one off as I've finished it Confused

@InTheNightWeWillWish I would throw the scissors but that would be dangerous. Honestly. Are you sure you're an adult? Grin

Eeeek. Congratulations @Kate105 how exciting!

Loving all the makes. I managed 3 rows of blanket today, which is not a lot for me but the most I've done for a while. I've also been picked to do a pattern test by someone on Instagram so I'm super excited! Just got to see what colours i have enough of to make a jumper. Grin I'm thinking petrol and something. Need to do a cupboard dive tomorrow!

CrochetBug · 24/04/2021 22:14

Oh I think I read somewhere that up to 4 knots is acceptable in a 100g ball. I've probably come across 10 total in 4ish years of crochet.

lazylinguist · 24/04/2021 23:23

Another language teacher on the thread @Kate105 Shock - what a coincidence! And big congratulations on your bump! I've been doing my crochet basket this evening. Will post photos of that and the Goldwing in the morning. Night all!

Ahh thank you ladies. Will keep my eye on it while I carry on with my jumper

lazylinguist · 25/04/2021 07:53

Here are my basket and Goldwing jumper so far. The Goldwing was hard to photograph because it curls up and is a bit scrunched on the circular needle! I'm really pleased with how the basket is coming along. I'm nit sure whether to stick with the current colours until I run out of them or chop and change. I actually quite like the idea of going with those colours until I've done 3/4 of the basket (if I have enough yarn) and then doing the top in one plain colour. What do you think?

The blue will be the main colour on the Goldwing btw, because the pattern and background kind of reverse as you go down, so the whole bottom of the jumper under the yoke will be plain blue.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 25/04/2021 08:48

Oh they look fabulous! I love the colours on your jumper! They're perfect.

I really like the idea of the plain top on the basket. And the blanket in the background is gorgeous!

I dream of my house looking that tidy one day, we're still in the tripping over dinosaurs and Lego after I just tidied up 10 minutes ago oh stuff I why do I bother phase Grin

Knots have only happened a few times for me I think scooby but one ruined a colour change in the ball which was a bit annoying.

lazylinguist · 25/04/2021 08:58

The blanket in the background was my first crochet project (aside from a few granny squares), which I made in the first
lockdown. My house doesn't have Lego and dinosaurs all over it any more because my dc are older and tend to keep their stuff to their (very untidy!) rooms. I'm very much not a tidy person by nature, but I try. Grin

Yes I'm pleased with the colours for the Goldwing, even though they weren't what I'd planned because I changed my mind from aran to dk in the shop. I'm hoping the green doesn't look awful next to my face. Although my biggest worry is always sizing. I did a swatch and changed needle sizes accordingly, but the colourwork does make tension and gauge a bit trickier!

Everyone is being very busy! I have two projects on the go my cricket jumper style sweater and a crochet blanket using all my leftover sock wool.

I’m planning this too www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/shawl-in-lana-grossa-gomitolo-silkhair-15-downloadable-pdf if I can find a slightly cheaper version of the version of the yarn.

eitak22 · 25/04/2021 11:21

Sorry for being absent, I've brought coffee, tea and birthday cake! (was mine in thurs).

Back to work has meant less time to crochet... Still working on the cowl and trying to plan my next project.

lazylinguist · 25/04/2021 12:09

Ooh I love the look of that shawl, NiceCardigan!

Belated happy birthday, eitak22! Sadly I'll have to pass on the cake as I'm currently experimenting with cutting out gluten and dairy (again Hmm] ), but will definitely join you in a cup of tea!

sophs29 · 25/04/2021 15:04

@lazylinguist both projects are looking great! I also like the idea of continuing in just the one colour for the basket! How many strands of yarn are you working with? (Apologies if you've already said).

Thank you for the tea and cake @eitak22 Grin hope you had a lovely day!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 25/04/2021 16:04

eitak happy belated birthday

lazy if you have enough yarn I like the idea of doing a strip of one colour at the top, probably the blue or mustard.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 25/04/2021 16:28

Happy belated Birthday eitak22 ! Cake

It's an absolutely gorgeous day here. I've caught up on the sewing bee and did anyone notice the student from Edinburgh's jumper? I'm sure I've seen that pattern on Ravelry, looks like she's a knitter as well as a sewer!

lazylinguist · 25/04/2021 17:07

I'm working with 4 strands, sophs. It said 4 or 5, but I tried hooking 5 at once and found it a bit tricky. 4 is working fine. It's such an easy project, but doesn't feel boring because it's really different from anything else I've made. I strongly suspect I will make more than one of these, maybe in totally different sizes. Glad you all like the idea of the single colour top. I'll just have to see what colours I have enough left of.

The yarns I'm using are some of the same ones I used to make my first crochet blanket for my living room (in the background of the picture), so it will go well in there - as a yarn storage basket of course! But we are re-doing our bathroom atm and I reckon a few small baskets would look nice in there too!

Hello all! New to the thread! Currently making a pocket shawl (behind the curve on this) and trying to decide what to make from a bag full of cotton ribbon.
