@annonymousse that's ace!

MerylSqueak · 30/07/2021 14:31

Nice sheep and slippers!

Exhausted after a trip to Snowdonia. No knitting and all the wool shops closed it seems, but the sheep seemed to be doing a good job growing more supplies!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 30/07/2021 14:51

Oh that's clever annonmoose! And cute too, I love the bobbly fleece!

sophs29 · 30/07/2021 16:24

@annonymousse wow that's adorable!

@Thenameisweasley thank you for the size chart! I'm also very tempted now I know there is adult sizes there is such a range of sizes! Looks like a really good book!

BookShark · 30/07/2021 16:31

Thanks for the tag lucysmam - this had completely fallen off my threads I'm on, so I've just spent ages catching up on what I've missed! Some stunning creations, I'm in awe of how quickly you can ask finish things.

Sophie is finished but still needs to be blocked. I'm still in two minds as to whether I'd do it again - the cotton yarn means it's quite small, so there is a part of me that wants to do a bigger version. But not just yet!

Otherwise, I did start making the scraps basket the lazylinguist posted ages okay, but one of the cats seems to have stolen it before I could finish it. Obviously if I'd bought an actual cat basket, she would have just ignored it, but this is apparently fair game.

So now I'm onto a stegosaurus for DS. I've only done the body so far - I think it's going to get quite fiddly soon, but we'll see how it goes (and whether I've got enough yarn - he helpfully picked a colour I didn't have much if, rather than one of the many other choices!)

Oh my goodness @BookShark that Sophie is absolutely beautiful! Such a good choice of yarn for it! Also cute kitty 😍

lucysmam · 30/07/2021 19:08

I agree, your Sophie is beautiful @BookShark. It's almost like the lighter band is supposed to frame the middle before working back to the darker colours again. Your cat looks very comfy there Grin, the basket is hers now!

eitak22 · 30/07/2021 21:21

Finally finished my infinity scarf. Love the colour but not overly happy with the join but it'll be at the back so you'll never see it. Feel like I never get any better though.

Random question, was it hear that somebody made cute bunny bunting? I'm sure I saw a slight 3d one and want to make some.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 31/07/2021 06:08

I love the sheep pillow/blanket.

Bookshark Sophie is lovely, I love the yarn with it. Even though it’s a bit small for your taste, I think the cotton yarn has really emphasised the stitches. Haha I love that your car has stolen your basket! You’ll have to make another one to hold your yarn now. I’ve also been doing a yarn basket but not the same one as you and lazy. Fortunately no cats here to steal my basket!

@eitak22 that might have been me. Is the one you’re thinking of? knottednest.com/easter-bunny-garland-free-crochet-pattern/

That's the one! Thanks for sharing :) going away for a week and thought these were small enough to work on.

@BookShark that Sophie is stunning and agree with night the cotton really shows off the stitches.

MerylSqueak · 31/07/2021 11:02

Gorgeous cat, blanket and basket @BookShark

Love wrap cardigan@lucysmam

Happy camping to all those going. I'm exhausted after our few days away. Still in bed drinking tea. DD didn't surface until 10.

I'm going to see if I enjoy doing the little moons wrap pattern by Purl Soho today. I have one ball of expensive yarn I want to use for it but it's not enough for the whole thing. I can't remember what I bought it for. I need to know if I like doing the repeat before I buy enough for the whole thing. Does anyone else do this to themselves? Smile

MerylSqueak · 31/07/2021 11:04

This is the pattern I am going to try.

Love that colour yarn btw @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack.

BookShark · 31/07/2021 11:07

Thanks for the compliments!

Meryl that wrap is gorgeous - just wish I could knit! I'll have to try and find something similar in crochet.

I sort of know what you mean about having a dry run first. I was thinking about trying a cardigan, but to do it in nice wool would mean buying loads - in tempted to try it first in cheap wool to see if I'm actually capable of doing it.

crivit · 31/07/2021 11:34

Hi all. I've been trying to get back into knitting recently (could do basics as a child) and have been reading through the thread(s). Would also like to get my head round crochet at some point (no pun intended!) but when I tried it didn't go well so swapped back to something I had a little more knowledge of to try and at least get in the crafting habit.

So far I've just made some bookmarks and a shower scrubbie but my yarn buying is going well... Picked up yet more this week during a trip to Italy but some of it is for making gifts so I don't feel too bad about it 😁

Also, @DeadButDelicious - I didn't expect to see a mini Dave Vanian in here!

lucysmam · 31/07/2021 13:57

Hi @crivit :) I know exactly what you mean about yarn buying going well...I have a rather large stash to say I've only been crocheting since October 🤣🙈

I'm just starting the lettering on my own scarf graph pattern. It's slow going but I'm impressed I got this far!

MerylSqueak · 31/07/2021 14:39

That looks so impressive @lucysmam.

Hi @crivit I only started back up with knitting 18 months ago after about 30 years! You can get into it really fast (especially with the help of Ravelry!)

My moons wrap will have to be modified. I've got the stitch pattern down but I don't like either of the yarns I was thinking of for it. I also have to work out how to mark the repeats easily. Daily life is far too intrusive for peaceable lace knitting so I need to know where I am!

lucysmam · 31/07/2021 14:47

We'll see what the first part looks like in 4.5 rows @MerylSqueak! I'm just having a break & coffee - I seem to be bending down to it quite a bit so my carried stitches don't move about until they're secure.

CrochetBug · 31/07/2021 15:53

Our journey so far has been a NIGHTMARE! We got on the M4 at junction 12. Got diverted at 13 and the diversion took us over an hour to get back on at junction 14!!!!! Traffic has been at a standstill on and off most of the way so its taken us over 5 hours and we are still not even at Exeter Shock. I haven't seen DS1 (very almost 17) for 10 days and I can't wait to squidge him. I think it's the longest I've ever not seen him for!

It's OK but I can't even crochet in the car for more than 10 mins at a time as I get travel sick. SadEnvy
I'm slightly worried I'm not going to manage a week away from home but have already warned my mum I might not manage being "out" everyday so might stay at the tent Confused

lucysmam · 31/07/2021 17:09

Oh crikey CrochetBug that sounds awful! It'll be worth it, hopefully, once you get there & settled.

I get travel sick, and so does dd2, makes for some erm...interesting journeys!

This is 18 rows progress so far. Does it look ok? The girls and their dad were Confused at my clothes peg bobbins but they do the job! Some of my carries are not as neat as they could be - took a bit to get into a rhythm with them. Overall I'm pleased though!

lazylinguist · 31/07/2021 18:22

Oh no @CrochetBug! We were en route back from Devon today. M5 and M6 for us, which weren't too bad (journey took us two hours less than on the way there) but we kept hearing on the radio about the M4 closure. Hope you got there ok in the end!

It's lovely to see the thread moving a bit faster again Smile. Enjoying seeing all your lovely creations as always! And hello @crivit!

sophs29 · 31/07/2021 19:52

Oh @CrochetBug I hope the journeys going okay now! And I hope you enjoy your camping trip too!

@lucysmam looks good to me! I'm a Liverpool fan so I have to say I think it's absolutely marvellous 😉😂

InTheNightWeWillWish · 31/07/2021 20:32

Welcome crivit

Hope the journey got better crochetbug.

I finished my yarn basket. It’s a nice size and can fit quite a few balls of yarn in. I may have closed the wool warehouse browser the other day but ended up buying some yarn in town today, so clearly not that interested in reducing my stash Grin

MerylSqueak · 31/07/2021 20:39

That's super cute @InTheNightWeWillWish

Hope you're there safely now @crochetbug

Poor you @lucysmam travel sickness is horrible.

CrochetBug · 31/07/2021 21:33

Traffic was almost clear after Taunton Dean and we arrived just as my SIL was starting to cook so by the time the tent was up it was ready Grin

I (of course) got my crochet out after the washing up was done and my 5 year old niece asked me to make her a scarf. That's actually what I'm working on. The 3 year old then said she needs a scarf too and can it be rainbow with red Grin

crivit · 01/08/2021 10:07

@lucysmam - Wrong colours (I'm not a Liverpool fan, Villa til I die 😊) but looks like a good job you're doing there.

@InTheNightWeWillWish - love the pompoms!

I can certainly sympathise on the travel sickness. I keep meaning to try the acupressure bands but for now I eat ginger and drink camomile tea.

Not too bad timing in the end there @CrochetBug I did a single night camping the other week. Very useful for testing the boob lights!
