I hate sewing up. My sewing up is not up to scratch and really let’s down the overall quality! I also can’t sew on buttons, so I’ve got a little pile of button sewing growing which DH will do for me (and if he’s willing to do buttons for me, then I’m not really inclined to learn Grin). I told DH that I probably need some sewing up lessons for Christmas/birthday present and unless I come up with something more exciting between now and then, he should start Googling.

tizwozliz · 26/07/2021 13:09

The pattern I'm following right now is really irritating,
Part C - repeat part B
Part B - repeat rows 1-8 of Part A

How hard is it to just copy and paste the repeated instructions? Having to flick back to previous pages is super annoying, even more so when the instruction you flick back to is also a repeat.

I'll try to add a pic of my latest creation. This little fellow is by no means perfect as I need to alter his legs - he can't sit up straight without being propped up.

I frequently have to rewrite patterns so that they make sense tizwozliz and it's super annoying. Can't manage with scrap paper and a ruler. As usual there are some fabulous creations on here.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 26/07/2021 14:32

Oh my goodness Liz, it's not a Julie knits in Paris pattern is it? Between those kinds of instructions and the single page per each size it completely did my head in. I had to rewrite the whole thing. I love some of her designs but I couldn't face that style of written pattern again.

CrochetBug · 26/07/2021 15:00

That's stupid @tizwozliz. Why not just write "repeat rows 1-8 twice". Much easier!

I'm the same, InTheNight - I avoid making anything that requires sewing up! That's why my sleeveless jumper and the jumper I'm making now are fully in the round!

I'm on holiday with my extended family in Devon and having a lovely time. Weather isn't looking so great for the rest of the week though, so I might get some knitting done!

Cardigan is finished but where the hole is to feed the tie through, to wrap it, doesn't seem very secure to me even though I followed the pattern instructions. So I'm going to add a few rows of dc to the bottom, going through where I've stitched it together, to strengthen it a bit. Should fit with the pattern itself ok I think since the front edge was finished with dc.

lazylinguist · 27/07/2021 17:11

Coffee Shop Wrap so far. It looks a bit untidy, but that's because I can't stretch it out properly as it's getting increasingly big for the circular needle!

That looks like it'll be nice to wrap up in when it's finished lazy.

I made another bee this afternoon. This time for dd1. They're getting better, the more I make of them which is pleasing to see :)

They are so cute, @lucysmam!

The bee is adorable @lucysmam I made something very similar for a friends daughters birthday. So cute and chunky.

eitak22 · 28/07/2021 18:25

@lazylinguist the shawl looks lovely, colours are really complimentary too.

@lucysmam love the little bee.

Today I've done no crafting because I decided I had to sort through my wardrobe... not sure why considering I went to the theatre last night (Prince of Egypt is amazing btw). Hoping to continue my infinity scarf soon and am trying not to just unpick it all because its not perfect.

lucysmam · 28/07/2021 21:25

I started two things today - I did the foundation row, and wrapped some of the bobbins, for the LFC scarf I designed. & I started the case dd2 asked for, for her fake airpods. Their case is a strange shape though, compared to mine, & the base took a good while to work out! It's a little loose but I don't think she'll mind & I have plenty of colours/can frog and make it smaller if she wants me to.

Love the colour for the case. Are the fake airpods from Home Bargains perchance? I have a set with a very similar box.
lucysmam · 28/07/2021 21:35

They're from one of those clothes shops that sells end of line stuff for a few quid. I didn't know Home Bargains sold them too; I'll have to keep an eye out for some for dd's stocking, these don't last very long any more before they need charging.

eitak22 · 28/07/2021 22:36

Yeah they're like 6.99. Not the best but considering I lose most things they work for me.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 29/07/2021 09:14

I love those colours together lazy!

Cute bee lucysmam Smile

I spun up my pastel fibre and it's basically turned into a flump marshmallow in wool form Grin I spun it up quickly just for fun, it's not my usual colours at all but I quite like it. I've no notion of what I'm going to do with it though...

I love those colours in the shawl lazy. Cute bee lucy.

Flavia those colours are lovely. Remind me of a mermaid!

I’ve been doing a fluffy granny squares baby blanket. I was going to do something more elaborate but I’m glad I didn’t as it’s so fluffy I can’t see the stitches. However, there was a knot in the ball and that’s pretty well hidden due to the fluffiness. I’ve probably got another round with this ball and then I have to decide whether to use the next ball to keep going and make it a tiny bit bigger. I’m happy with the width but would like a bit more height. In hindsight, I should have done a granny rectangle but the fluffy nature would have made the starting squares quite tricky. I won’t need a full second ball or it would be massive, so there is still the question what I do with the second ball (or part of the second ball). The wool is calling out to be fluffy bed socks but I’ve not mastered socks when I can see the stitches - I’ve got no chance with this wool!

lucysmam · 29/07/2021 10:03

Flavia that really is lush! I wouldn't know what to do with it either; I think I'd be happy just to admire it 😊

InTheNight I love fluffy bed socks. The kids laugh at me for them Grin. I think that yarn would be fab for some!

I've attached a pic of my wrap cardi. The ties are made to be tied at the back, but I prefer it tied at the side, so I need to lengthen one of the ties by 6" or so (excuse the cropping of the photo, my kids take dreadful photos of me Grin.

I've had a request for another bee - one of my work colleagues would like to know how much for them. I have no idea. Confused. I think my best bet is weigh one, work out roughly how much yarn & stuffing it took & cover my costs plus a quid or two for the time they take. They're getting quicker to make so that seems fair enough I think. Unless anyone has any other suggestions?

Tricky lucysmam how much are your materials do you think?

Your wrap cardi is gorgeous! It's fits so well and it's a lovely colour!

Oh that looks so soft and squooshy InTheNight perfect for curling up in!

Winter is coming, it's cold and wet here and I couldn't be happier Grin My sunflower in a pot blew over in the winds, clearly knitwear will be needed soon.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 29/07/2021 13:03

lucysmam I love the wrap. There are several calculators for working out how to much charge if you had an Etsy shop. You could use that as a base, then knock a bit off if you wanted to stay below Etsy prices.

lucysmam · 29/07/2021 16:06

Flavia, based on some very loose & lazy calculations; he costs roughly 75p to make. & takes a couple of hours at most - including interruptions of the "Muuuuuuuum..." variety.

InTheNight, I will have a look for those, thank you. I didn't know such a thing existed!

lucysmam · 29/07/2021 16:12

Ok, better calculation; around 94p to make.

lazylinguist · 29/07/2021 18:00

Sadly I can't take any credit for the colour scheme of my shawl - I used exactly the yarn and colours in the original!
