Did you remember any chains before starting the row? It doesn't look as high as the others to me

lucysmam · 23/07/2021 20:31

I'm back...did you definitely start from the right side of the row? So the stitches are going the same way as the bottom row before?

imastmw · 24/07/2021 10:02

Hi Lucy,
Yea I did remember the chains. I've undone it and redone the top blue row. I'll attach a pic. It looks better to me.

The end of the row finishes with 2 trebles into the top stitch of the row below. It's right at the edge. I think initially I did 2 trebles into the same stitch of the row below (which is what you're supposed to do) but this time I did 1 treble into the stitch below, and the second into the one below that. It looks less sticky out.

Thanks for the advice! I found this pattern really difficult at first and had to keep checking back but after a few hours it just clicked and now I'm really enjoying it. Hopefully I can keep my edges straight!

Thanks all x

Oh balls! NC fail there. Changed it for something work related. Never mind!

lucysmam · 24/07/2021 12:43

That looks loads better, glad you sorted it!

I'm just hanging round waiting for the girls to eat dinner atm; there's no point picking anything up until we've been to Lidl - the second I do, they'll want something or appear to talk random Minecraft/Minecraft streamers at me 🤔🙄

DeadButDelicious · 24/07/2021 16:35

Been to the seaside with DD and my parents today. Managed to come home with two balls of yarn. Which is restrained for me 😂😂😂

lucysmam · 24/07/2021 16:41

I'm confused as to how I get back to my starting point without turning to work back the other way in this instruction Confused (It's the front edging of my wrap cardi). I've just started assembling while the oven warms up for tea.

DeadButDelicious I haven't been to the coast in ages Envy I hope you had an ice cream! 🍦

Bugger, didn't realise it was sideways or I'd have turned it, sorry Blush

CrochetBug · 24/07/2021 17:03

@lucysmam I've read that as the next row actually being around the bottom of the cardigan.

But then that isn't the front edge. I'm struggling to visualise what wraps over where and work out if that makes a difference.

lucysmam · 24/07/2021 17:15

@CrochetBug I've attached a screenshot of how it's meant to look. Continuing around the bottom edge would mean I'm going the same way, if I continue as a second round rather than row.

I had a ridiculous bounty flavoured icecream milkshake @lucysmam it was bloody lovely. I also had chips. Because seaside calories totally don't count. 😁

sophs29 · 24/07/2021 18:15

@lucysmam that's confusing me too 😣 hope someone can hop on and help you! How annoying!

lucysmam · 24/07/2021 18:29

I thought maybe it was just my brain not computing @sophs29, glad it's not! I think I might just do two continuous rounds, rather than confuse myself trying to work out how I go the other way without turning.

Ooh, seaside chips 😋😋 I can almost smell the chippy! It's a shame my dad drives a 2 seat convertible, I'd have pestered him to drive us to Cleethorpes over the holidays.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 24/07/2021 19:57

Bounty milkshake? Envy Amazing! I feel the need to recreate that at home.

I met up with some of the women from my knit and natter today. It was so nice to have female company again, I'm surrounded by males at home Grin We did some spinning and I bought some new fibre and a sock set on the way out so I'm going to cast on once I've balled it Smile

Ooooh Flavia the one on the right of your picture's so pretty 🥰

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 24/07/2021 20:11

It reminded me of candy floss and I think I just realised how food oriented I am. If I can't eat it, I can spin or knit something that reminds me of it GrinGrin

sophs29 · 24/07/2021 20:29

Oh my goodness @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack that's so pretty and looks soooo soft!

@lucysmam it's a vintage pattern isn't it? So you can't even ask the pattern creator 😣

lucysmam · 24/07/2021 20:33

Yep, it is. The front edging's done before the sides are sewn together too so I can't do 2 continuous rounds.

I'm just going to turn it 🤷‍♀️ no-one will know & I have plenty of yarn if it needs a right way edge to finish off.

MerylSqueak · 25/07/2021 09:28

@lucysmam An offchance but has anyone on Ravelry made it. Sometimes I find another knitter has had the same problem as me and if I am lucky has worked out a solution.

My countess scarf is still in very slow progress. It's very easy to knit with easily countable repeats so if anyone is doubtful about whether they can do lace it's a fab starter project.

lucysmam · 25/07/2021 09:40

@MerylSqueak not that I could find.

I turned it & added the second row that way. I did half heartedly google to see if it was possible to crochet the second row without turning & there were a few matching results. I'll go back and look later on - the first one I clicked gave instructions but when I tried it just looked messy & I couldn't be arsed to faff with it.

lucysmam · 25/07/2021 20:35

Urgh, sewing up takes forever 🙄 I've almost done one shoulder seam & side/underarm seam. I think the other side might wait for tomorrow!

CrochetBug · 26/07/2021 00:25

Sewing up is the absolute worst. I try and make things that are all in once piece so I don't have to do it Grin

MerylSqueak · 26/07/2021 07:22

I hate doing it. I can never get it as neat as I'd like.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 26/07/2021 11:00

I quite like sewing up. I used to hate it but now I like knitting things in pieces so they're not as heavy to work with.

petridishmystery · 26/07/2021 11:15

I hate sewing up, mainly cos despite my best efforts I’m still really bad at it so often ends up with something I’d been proud of looking a bit rubbish at the end due to bad sewing.

Not done anything exciting knitting wise lately but did make another big cushion! I love this yarn, it’s the james c Brett flutterby huggable, but it’s very expensive.
