Thank for the crochet info! I've never heard of yarn unders, I'll go look for a tutorial.

Sorry about the job lucysmam, that sucks ☹️

I borrowed my DM's knitting machine for one of my stocking stitch projects and I did the front in a couple of hours last night. As it turns out, I'm not sure I like the style on me though I love the wool, but it was gloriously quick so I can just rip it out again without regret. I think I'll use the yarn for a different pattern. I've been meaning to make a Zweig for myself for ages, I made one for my mum and it was a fun knit so it might go for that.

adrianmolesmole · 16/07/2021 19:19

Why did I not know about this thread?! I've been on MN for months! Shock

Checking in, I've been crocheting on and off for 10 years and currently making a cable blanket and a scarf in Tunisian crochet scarf.. I'm a slow worker though, fingers crossed I might be finished by winter!

adrianmolesmole · 16/07/2021 19:22

@CrochetBug

This is what mine looks like
Adorable, I think he's crying out for a hug!
CrochetBug · 16/07/2021 19:53

Another day another finished project. Although this doesn't fit like I hoped so I'm probably gonna frog it and make a smaller size and longer body. Still... deadlines are deadlines and it was finished on time (just)

Welcome,Adrianmolesmole - glad you found us! I must have a go at Tunisian crochet some time, it looks intriguing!

Stayed up late to finish the little dog for my friend’s little girl. The tongue is a bit wonky and the eyes are a bit sinister but overall I’m quite happy with it.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 18/07/2021 09:40

🤦‍♀️

It would be good if I posted the photo! 🙄

Cute! I don't think his eyes look sinister. And my real dog's tongue definitely does not hang out neatly Grin .

That's so cute @InTheNightWeWillWish well done for getting it done so quickly!

DeadButDelicious · 18/07/2021 14:12

I love that colour @CrochetBug lovely shade of purple!

Awww @InTheNightWeWillWish that dog is adorable!

I can confirm that Mrs Snail went down a treat with DD's teacher! She sent me a lovely message yesterday thanking us. A job well done I think!

I bought some yarn in all different shades of brown today so I can make DD a snail as she is very put out that she doesn't have one 😂.

Has everyone melted in the sun 🌞🌞

I've almost done half of the second sleeve for my wrap cardi - hoping to finish that tomorrow & start assembling either tomorrow or Friday.

MerylSqueak · 21/07/2021 23:01

Smile I was wondering the same thing! Too warm for wool.

I also feel busier than when I am at work with the kids off. Phew!

CrochetBug · 21/07/2021 23:21

It's too hot. I can't do more than 5 mins before my hands are too hot to work the hook. Thankfully my latest project has had the deadline extended!

DeadButDelicious · 22/07/2021 09:35

I'm melting. I can't think straight so I've put the hook down for now. Praying for rain currently. 😂

petridishmystery · 22/07/2021 09:45

Yeah I keep taking my knitting down the beach but then the mere thought of touching the yarn makes me feel sweaty!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 22/07/2021 10:45

I managed about 10 stitches yesterday, then I melted and decided to go on a hunt for ice lollies. Coop didn’t have any so I bought some from Amazon and then I was done.

We (me, DH and the two dogs) are all fighting over the fan and the cool mat (which is meant for the dogs).

tizwozliz · 22/07/2021 12:08

The weather and a puppy certainly aren't conducive to crocheting. Desperately trying to finish some figures by tomorrow.

lazylinguist · 22/07/2021 18:18

Sooo hot! We are off on holiday for a week with my extended family on Saturday. I think the weather is meant to get a bit cooler from then! I've been packing today, so I've put my Coffee Shop Wrap WIP in my bag. Hope to find some time to knit more of it while we're away.

Far too hot. Still not finished my infinity scarf, it's just too warm!

lucysmam · 23/07/2021 14:51

We popped into the yarn shop in town today while we were out. Not sure I'll be going again tbh. The lady wasn't very helpful when I asked if they stocked chenille yarn or something along those lines to make some re-useable water balloons from & I just got an unwelcome vibe. Maybe because I had the kids with me but they're not babies any more & weren't touching at everything 🤷‍♀️

Anyway; dd2 picked 3 colours of ricorumi with the intention of me making her a cover for her (fake) airpod case. So I'll be hunting for a pattern later on, that I can adapt, because the case is a little bigger than an actual airpod case.

badatcrochet1996 · 23/07/2021 17:46

Hi all, hope you're all well.
I don't suppose I could get some advice from you could I?

I think I'm going wrong somewhere with my ripple stitch rainbow blanket but I don't know how. I've done it once, went wrong, undid it, started almost from the beginning and the same has happened again at the exact same point!

The edge which I've managed to keep straight in other rows has gone wonky. It looks like I've added stitches but gone through it stitch by stitch multiple times and the pattern is perfect. Can't see where ive gone wrong. Does anyone know? I Will attach pics.

To me it looks like it starts to go wrong right at the edge of the second blue row. It'll just get worse if I keep going.

The other edge is almost perfect. It's driving me MAD!

CrochetBug · 23/07/2021 18:18

The first stitch on the first purple row doesn't look right, I can't work out what's wrong but it doesn't look the same as the first stitch on other rows.

But, having said that. A border will straighten a wonky edge Grin

lucysmam · 23/07/2021 18:50

I agree, the first stitch on the first purple row looks to slant to / that sort of angle.

Actually, I just looked again - I think it might be the blue row throwing you. The edges of the blue row don't look to make a subtle 'v' shape like the ones before. I've circled what I mean before & then on the blue row on the attached pic.

(I'm probably wrong but worth a look :) )

badatcrochet1996 · 23/07/2021 18:57

I think it's the blue row too but it's quite a simple pattern and it's perfect the whole way through. I can't work it out and with each row it gets worse. Argh!

Thanks for the input though!
