Left side of my wrap top is done...onto the right tonight. Hopefully quicker since I've done the working out on this one!

Oh @lucysmam I love that colour! And it's a great effect! You got that done quickly! Smile

lazylinguist · 01/07/2021 15:36

That's looking fab, @lucysmam!

I'm thinking I'm going to need to move the live stitches of my jumper onto some spare yarn at some point, so that I can try it in for length. I hate short tops and it's really hard to tell how long it willbe when it's on the needles! I've also looked ahead and cannot puzzle out the instructions for the i-cord edge of the sleeves at all Confused. I've never done i-cord before.

I really like the colour too @sophs29! I've used less than half a ball there & bought 5 (maybe 6) so might have enough for a something else too!

Thanks @lazylinguist! I get you on the short tops, I tend to prefer mid-thigh length ish for jumpers.

lazylinguist · 02/07/2021 13:00

I can't remember if I already said this, but I'm going to a little local-ish yarn festival tomorrow- stallholders including raisers of rare breeds, spinners and craftspeople, mostly local. I'm quite excited! I'm dragging the rest of the family along on the basis that it's in a nice placde, in the grounds of a pub and there will be refreshments. Smile

Just sliding back into the thread to gaze in envy at lazy and her yarn festival. As you were Grin I cord is one of those things that make sense once you’re doing it I think. It’ll click pretty quickly!

That blue/green is my favourite colour lucysmam, it’s gorgeous!

I’m heading away with the kids next week and dithering about what to pack to work on after they go to sleep. One project to force me to get some done or a new project? Decisions...

InTheNightWeWillWish · 02/07/2021 23:21

Love the colour lucysmam.

I’m jealous about the yarn festival tomorrow lazy and the pub to be honest. I’m getting a bit desperate to go to the pub, which obviously by MN standards means I’m a raging alcoholic Grin

I’ve managed to crack on with my blanket and it mostly looks about right now. I can’t really judge length at the best of time but I think it’s about right for a 4 year old. I did try the hood on my head, DH walked into find me with a mustard yellow hood which was slightly too short for my head and staring into the camera on my phone, so if it’s slightly too small for me I figure it should be fine for a 4 year old. As per usual, I’m distracted by what I can be doing next. Not what other projects I can be finishing off but what I can start new with 🙄 I need to get some discipline.

Unfortunately it's pissing it down Sad. Still going to go though (if you don't go out in the rain in these parts, then you hardly ever get to go anywhere ever!). I feel sorry for the organisers though.

It's a shit day overall. DS1 has fallen and had to get stitches and we have to go get them checked during the week so our holiday is a goner Sad I could cry, they were so looking forward to it and it's the second time it's been called off, but least he didn't break anything I suppose...

MerylSqueak · 03/07/2021 13:20

Oh no Flavia! What a nightmare. I'm really sorry.

Enjoy LazyLinguist!

I agree that's a lovely colour @lucysmam

I've frogged yet another scarf I started and changed my mind about. I can't seem to settle on anything!

lucysmam · 03/07/2021 14:15

I hope you're enjoying yourself lazy! I wonder if there's ever anything similar local ish to me 🤔

InTheNight, I'm looking forward to seeing your finished blanket, it sounds fun!

Your poor ds Flavia :(

Meryl I sometimes can't settle on what I want to do 🤷‍♀️ the enthusiasm eventually comes back.

@CrochetBug how are you doing? :)

I'm going to do some of dd's blanket while it's quiet. I measured yesterday & it's 4 feet long. I'm going to finish the coloured ball, then measure against her bed before deciding whether to stop or carry on for a while.

sophs29 · 03/07/2021 16:28

@lazylinguist hope it's going okay despite the weather! I remember when I used to do craft fairs yonks ago the weather always made a massive difference in sales etc!

Oh no @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack is there not a hospital near your holiday destination you can take him to instead or does the original hospital want to see him?

I'm so glad you've sorted it @InTheNightWeWillWish I can just imagine your DHs face when he walked in to you trying it on Grin

I don't know what's wrong with me at the moment, I have no motivation to do anything, I suppose it doesn't help that I literally don't get a spare minute to myself these days! Hopefully in the summer hols I'll have more time and inspiration!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 03/07/2021 17:06

Thanks guys, I just can't get over the bad luck, DS2 broke his elbow last time we tried to go, I'm beginning to think it's jinxed.

That's a good idea sophs they want us to go to our nurse practitioner so it might be worth giving the healthcentre where we're going a ring and seeing if they'd see him. Thanks!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 03/07/2021 18:08

Oh no flavia, hope your son feel better soon.

sophs the only reason I’ve found my motivation is because I had to get the blanket done for my nephews birthday. I think the only reason I’m eyeing up other projects is procrastination and I’m a bit bored of the blanket.

lazylinguist · 03/07/2021 20:18

Oh Flavia - what rotten luck! Sad So sorry about your holiday, and hope your ds is ok.

There was a decent turnout at the yarn event, in spite of the weather. I bought a notebook with all the British sheep breeds on it and 3 skeins of Methera yarn from the Northern Yarn stall. I might make dh a hat with some of it.

I've made a bit of progress with my Coffee Shop Wrap, but realised I'd made a mistake a few rows back and ended up with a wrong stitch count. It’s not really noticeable, so I added an extra stitch and carried on. Annoying though!

Managed to lose this thread!

Some love work, loving the wrap jumper @lucysmam. Tempted to make something like that myself to chuck on over work dresses as schools are never a sensible temp.

I've not really been crocheting as honestly it's been too warm go have a long scarf sat on my lap. Not sure how the infinity scarf is going to look or if I'll like it so it may get frogged.

CrochetBug · 04/07/2021 17:28

I'm... umm... alive. Thanks for asking @lucysmam. I'm suffering quite badly with disassociation, annoyingly exacerbated by crocheting. I've found I can manage 30min bursts before I have to do something else. It means I'm behind on a project that was due on Friday. It should be finished tonight though.

I love the colour of your wrap! I asked my mum to remake my favourite childhood jumper in that colour. But the pattern only goes up to a 34" chest. Not much help for my H cups Grin

Hope your son is OK Flavia. What rotton luck!

lazylinguist · 04/07/2021 20:50

Glad you're alive, @CrochetBug Grin. Disassociation sounds not fun at all, and what a pain that crochet makes it worse Sad . I can never quite work out what knitting and crochet do to my brain. I find them enjoyable, obviously, but I wouldn't necessarily say they relax me. Either a WIP is easy, in which case it lets me think about other stuff and doesn't take my mind off things, or it's difficult so does take my mind off other things, but is quite tense and even a bit stressful! Liking the shawl lazy. I’m looking at doing a big chunky shawl or maybe a poncho as we’re looking at going camping, so I want something to keep me warm in the evenings.

Sorry you’re suffering crochetbug and that crochet doesn’t seem to be helping.

I’ve been trying to finish my nephew’s blanket today. I think it’ll be about the right size but the tail will probably trail on the floor (but it does in the photo too). Called DH’s brother and nephew today to wish him a happy birthday. He asked where his present was and then asked if he was getting a PlayStation. So I can’t see him being overly thrilled with just a dress up blanket. DH has said if nephew doesn’t like the blanket, he’ll take it back and keep it because he loves it. I’ve got the ears to make, the pockets to finish off and some ends to see in but my heart isn’t really in it now. I’ve been working on a basket as well today when I felt too flat to work on the blanket or the blanket got too boring.

@CrochetBug sending hugs!

@InTheNightWeWillWish that looks great! My 3 and a half year old would absolutely love it so I'm sure a 4 year old would! I keep saying it on this thread too but it looks so neat! Everyone's work is just amazing!

lazylinguist · 04/07/2021 21:31

Oh that's lovely, @InTheNightWeWillWish! I too had camping in mind when I was thinking about my shawl, but I doubt I'll get it finished before we go in August!

lucysmam · 04/07/2021 21:41

Glad to see you're alive @CrochetBug! Disassociation sounds quite frustrating & hard work.

@InTheNightWeWillWish I think your dress up blanket's ace! My youngest would have loved it at that age. Tbh, I think she probably still would now.

That orangey shade's lush @lazylinguist! I keep looking at burnt orange but not entirely sure it'd suit me so don't buy it.

lazylinguist · 05/07/2021 12:00

I really like the gingery, burnt orangey colours too, @lucysmam. The one in my shawl is actually more of a bright, orangey gold. But here's my little haul from the yarn festival, which does include a more gingery, burnt orange one.
