Ooo exciting tizwozliz fingers crossed for you. Did you want a male or female?

lazylinguist · 31/05/2021 06:28

How exciting!

Aww puppy talk, saw a gorgeous lab out yesterday. Hope you manage to get one from this litter tizwoz.

tizwozliz · 31/05/2021 08:37

We were hoping for a female but would have considered a male from the original litter but there weren't the numbers. We have our name down for a girl now. Bit further away than is ideal, but I have 3 months off work from the end of June so it fits timing wise (pups are 8 weeks early July)

lazylinguist · 31/05/2021 21:21

Oh how lovely! Looking forward to the pictures!
I've just taught my non-crocheting dsis to do the basic double crochet stitch so she can make the scrap yarn basket! I've started her off and she's done 4 rounds very slowly and with much frowning and the occasional shriek. Grin

Oh @tizwozliz I'm glad things have worked out for you! And also can't wait to see pictures!

@lazylinguist you do realise she will be obsessed now? Grin

petridishmystery · 01/06/2021 18:35

Oo this fell off my threads I’m on page and I suddenly thought hang on, not like you lot to be quiet!

Not done much knitting lately but yesterday a local rescue centre had a big open day (no lockdown where I live) and I did get to see some sheep and some lambs!

sophs29 · 01/06/2021 19:41

Awww @petridishmystery I took my DS's to the farm yesterday, so we also saw lambs yesterday Grin

Awww cute!
Sophs - no, my dsis failed to get 'hooked' Grin. So she's requested I make her a basket for Christmas!

I've not done any knitting or crochet (except briefly teaching dsis) for the last few days. I'm just in the process of separating for the sleeves and body on my Goldwing jumper and have discovered that one of my stitch holders is not very secure - when I took the numper out of my bag, the clip has opened and about 10 stitches had slipped off Shock. Fortunately I rescued them before they came properly unravelled!

Pterodactyl finished, I'd forgotten how much sewing together was involved with this pattern. Thought I was nearly finished days ago.

Much better than the "dog bunny" I've managed to create 🤣🤔 (it's meant to be a bunny!)

She's a very cute dog bunny

YanTanTethera123 · 02/06/2021 17:06

👋🏻
Lurker here, enjoying the chat. I decided to knit a blanket for my neice’s baby, due November. I have managed 10 rows but frogged/reknitted the 5 patterned rows at least 3 times each 😡 It should be perfectly straightforward, knit and purl, but I’m buggered if I can follow the pattern! It’s in written form (I can’t read charts for the life of me!), seems simple but clearly I’m too dim or something. I’ve been knitting all my life but this is driving me potty!
Any suggestions? I am frantically counting the stitches.....
Thanks in anticipation 😊

@YanTanTethera123 what does the pattern itself say? I'm not a knitter but maybe we can help work out where you're going wrong :)

lucysmam · 02/06/2021 20:21

I've made some edits to dog bunny 🤣 the recipient loves her as she was though which is good!

Hi @YanTanTethera123 - happy to try and help! What's actually going wrong exactly?

OP posts:
sophs29 · 02/06/2021 20:46

@lazylinguist Haha I see!

@tizwozliz I love that! The orange is such a nice colour!

@lucysmam that's adorable  you've managed to make 2 in 1!

Sorry @YanTanTethera123 I don't knit but I know there's apps where you can keep track of your stitches? I use just a basic row counter one but maybe there's a more advanced one?

sophs29 · 02/06/2021 20:48

@tizwozliz my eyes saw it as orange and now I see yellow hahaha! excuse my tired eyes, it's a great colour anyhoo HmmGrin

lucysmam · 02/06/2021 21:01

This is maybe (only maybe!) going to be my daftest question yet...

Have any of you ever used a pattern online, say from a blog. Bookmarked it to go back to. & when you've gone back, it's entirely different? Even though you've used the bookmark link?

The bumble bee I made for dd2 before Christmas, I bookmarked to make another the same. Have sat down to start it tonight & the pattern is totally different. He now has no legs, no antennae, & no stinger Confused. Less fiddly bits to make, I suppose, but I'm baffled. It's like the original one has vanished!

CrochetBug · 02/06/2021 21:10

I've had that happen with recipes. Bloody annoying!

tizwozliz · 02/06/2021 21:38

Trivia - in Danish the same word is used for recipes and crochet patterns. Sounds so cute when MIL asks if I'm following a crochet recipe

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 02/06/2021 21:42

You could try the wayback machine @lucysmam archive.org/web/ put the URL into the search box and see if it returns the old page. Your DogBunny is very cute Grin

Glad to hear you're getting a puppy after all @tiztwoliz a month isn't really that long to hide all your stash Wink If I showed your pterodactyl to my DS's they'd be pestering me to make them a flock, it's so good!

@YanTanTethera123 I found myself concentrating so much on a repeat section with cables I completely missed the K1 at the start of the row the other night. I couldn't understand where I was going wrong until I went and got a cup of tea and came back to it. I also occasionally develop a complete inability to count...
Have you checked Ravelry or the Stylecraft website for errata in the written instructions just in case?
