Cute! I'd never heard of those mood octopuses until last week when I did some supply teaching and two of the kids in my class had them. Not lovely homemade ones like yours though!

Aah, our local shop has them for £4. I object to paying for something I know I can make a decent job of myself read as, I'm a bit tight 🤣

One of dd1's friends has one & has apparently given it a whole personality of it's own Confused Grin

petridishmystery · 16/05/2021 23:04

Ahh @lucysmam I love it!!

MerylSqueak · 17/05/2021 07:49

Those are so cute @lucysmam

sophs29 · 17/05/2021 08:21

Oh @lucysmam that's adorable!! 😍
Does the child show the side of the emotion they're feeling or? Sorry I'm not with the times at all 🙄😂

lucysmam · 17/05/2021 09:11

I think that's the idea @sophs29. I think dd2 just wanted one because she liked the flip thing though. She did however, point out that they might be useful in numerous colour combos with different emotions

sophs29 · 17/05/2021 09:58

Omg I'm so stupid @lucysmam I only just realised it turns inside out 😂 I thought there was just two sides to it! How clever!
I agree with your DD! Blue for sad and yellow for happy 😍

Yes sometimes kids will hang them off their door to show what kind of mood they are in!
lucysmam · 17/05/2021 10:27

I wonder what it'd look like with 4 faces 🤔 or maybe smaller ones as a set 🎓

lazylinguist · 17/05/2021 22:22

I'm finally in the process of casting off my Sockhead Cowl! I'm using 'Jenny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off', as recommended in the pattern. It is indeed excellently stretchy, but it takes twice as long as a normal bind-off!

I just did that one on a black cotton shawl. It does take an age. Can we see a pic when you're done?

lazylinguist · 18/05/2021 07:05

Definitely. I'll do a pic of it on me - it's not the kind of thing that looks a very good shape when it's not being worn!

Trying to decide whether to do another row of blue or not

Lovely either way, @tizwozliz!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 18/05/2021 19:47

tizwozliz that looks really nice. Not really helpful but I think it looks complete now but would also look really good with another blue round. I guess that’s the beauty of that pattern though, you stop when you want. I love the mix of colours.

Kate105 · 18/05/2021 19:49

Oh wow @tizwozliz that is stunning!

eitak22 · 18/05/2021 20:42

Agree with others @tizwozliz it's lovely either way.

Sorry for being absent, still working on my cowl but not had a lot of oomph to crochet but am slowly getting there.

tizwozliz · 18/05/2021 20:43

I think I'll leave it until I get home and can measure properly and judge whether it needs to be a bit bigger based on size

lazylinguist · 18/05/2021 21:24

Finished my cowl!

Lovely lazy and so fitting for the weather at the moment! Will you be wearing it tomorrow with your thermals and snow boots for the mid-May freeze-along? Grin

NiceCardigan · 18/05/2021 21:43

Lovely colours lazy

I’ve been busy clearing some of my WIPs - sock wool stash blanket, crochet bag and rag rug (I need a few more rags to finish this off!)

Not much different than the usual weather here, InTheNight Grin. I don't think it will be quite cold enough for my cowl though (I've got tougher since I moved up north Wink). Its first outing might have to wait for camping - we're going in August but I always get really cold sitting out in the evening!

petridishmystery · 18/05/2021 22:18

Love that @lazylinguist! Finally warming up here but still so nippy to say it’s May. Decided the sandals are coming out next week no matter what.

sophs29 · 19/05/2021 08:05

@tizwozliz that blanket is stunning! Don't they usually say our eyes prefer to see things in 3's? And as there's 3 lots of blue I think it looks perfect!
That cowl looks cosy @lazylinguist what yarn did you use?
Lovely colours on your blanket @NiceCardigan ☺️

I've almost finished DS's frog, just the flippers and shorts to make and then I'll be cracking on with my second DS's jacket! I had to get drops light as all the other 'nicer' cotton yarns had hardly any colours 😣 I got a rust colour and ice blue and I actually love the blue!
