Following on from my other thread I would like to thank you all for pointing me in the right direction wrt learning to knit.

That site you linked to NQC was fab, really good, I have taught myself how to cast on, purl, cast off, and reminded myself of the good old knit stitch! (I have a picture of my trial piece if anyone fancies a larf)

And now I have a project - I am going to knit myself a cosy for my cafetiere. There I've said it, can't go back on it now

So what are you all working on? Anyone want to join me in my Knitting Circle?

That's interesting muminfife. I have only knitted a few pairs of socks so perhaps they will improve. They are also going out of shape which I really don't like I prefer straight needles!

tamum I did wonder whether I should treat myself to these ... But perhaps I'll put them on my birthday list instead!

Tamum, your bag is fab

I am still doing the baby blanket...

I love listening to you experienced knitters enthusing over yarn and needles

Hello everyone, I'm becalmed in a small cotton blanket for one of dd's baby dolls (it's a miniature approximation of MB's blanket as seen on Tamum's flickr), so have not been here for a bit.
Tamum and I are working on a Megalist of Knitters who Might Like to Do Squares for a Blanket Sometime - we've done them for Droile, Arabica and now MB.
If you would like to join a mailing list for this sort of project, can you CAT either me or Tamum and we will add you to the list? It's just that sometimes these projects need to be initiated off-board so they are a surprise!

I am trying to knit an elephant toy for my little boy, doing it on the hoof with no pattern.

This is following on from my Iggle Piggle off the cuff success!

The lady in my wool shop said " No pattern ooh aren't you the clever one " I said you haven't seen it yet!!!

i've just come back from norway where i learnt how to do a pretty reasonable continental purl!
i'm knitting a baby's jersey a la kaffe fassett in about 30 different colours. i've nearly finished sleeve no. 2 and then just the front left to do. feeling very pleased with myself.
