Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

I lost you all!

Going to catch up with all the gorgeous pics. Cake

Please can I join in? I love the relaxation of colouring and have subscribed to the Art Therapy magazine. It specifically suggests photocopying their pages and so there is an endless opportunity to try out different techniques. I photocopy the page I like onto good quality paper, then colour it. Once finished I scan it and resize it before printing it out to use in my cardmaking.

I was wondering where you were, Waggle! Smile

Welcome to the thread cantdraw, I love your S!

FeelingSmurfy · 02/08/2015 18:12

cantdraw that's interesting, I haven't done that yet, hadn't thought of resizing it for use on other things! Which issues have you had? I subscribed when first one was in shops and I'm now up to issue 11, love the magazine but not impressed with subscription service

waggle welcome back! I took your advice on the pencils and they have been suggested as a birthday present Smile have mentioned the sharpener that goes with them too

SmartAlecMetalGit · 02/08/2015 18:14

My first attempt with the Polychromos pencils, they're glorious. I absolutely love these designs as well, this one is from the Groovy Animals e-book by Thaneeya McArdle.

I desperately need some better paper to print the designs out onto though. That one was just bog standard basic printer paper and it started looking decidedly tatty very quickly.

That is lovely! I love that yellow ... I have no more to post as have been stuck for about two weeks on one very intricate page that I haven't been doing very well at all but must now see through to the bitter end before I can start another...

hospitalworry · 03/08/2015 21:32

Lol
I Have 4 colours in total used them all!
Going to hunt round the house!
I am convinced my kids have other colours knocking round.
I wanted to fill in the white with something green!

WaggleBee · 03/08/2015 23:48

Hospital That'd make fab wallpaper! Love the yellow too. You need more pencils, treat yourself. Grin

cantdrawbutlovetocolour · 03/08/2015 23:58

Smurfy, I have just had issues 14, 15, 16 ans 17 in the last day or so. I wasn't too impressed with the subscription to begin, as they sent some issues out of order without explanation, but they seem to have got things under control now and I am happy with it, I love the extra goodies that arrive every now and again as well. Last time I had a lovely set of gel pens and this tie an extra tray for the pencil box, as well as the pencils and pens. I have found the pencils surprisingly good, especially for blending, though I did treat myself to a set of the Staedtler Ergosoft as well.

I love the rhino - amazing colours and I also like the 'wallpaper' - it reminds me of one in our kitchen when I was a little girl.

FeelingSmurfy · 04/08/2015 08:00

cantdraw I have called a few times to chase things up, hadn't received 3 & 4 until I called! I have just had the gel pens with my last delivery.

Doilooklikeatourist · 04/08/2015 15:10

I have bought Enchanted Forest and a set of the Staedler Ergo Soft pencils
Starting tonight ( needs to peel potatoes and do the ironing first , the colouring will be my reward )

Testarossa1 · 04/08/2015 15:32

Finished the helter skelter last night. Though wish I'd done the bottom half of the slide the same as the top... now working on these squirrels. Contemplating doing the squirrel on the right in shades of blue/turquoise. Does anybody think that would be a huge mistake? keeping him greens for the trees, and going to do rainbow leaves.

I'm a bit of a purist, so think I'd do it be red\brown squirrel and a grey/black one but then I love the bright colours others do.
Loving the metallic helter skelter.

Testarossa1 · 04/08/2015 16:04

Will have to check out how many shades of grey I have sugar. See if I have enough different ones to make that work. I do have a silver pencil I could put in the mix.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 04/08/2015 18:54

I would do one squirrel browns and another light colours then do the leaves and background like night and day, but split down the middle to match the squirrel symmetry if that makes sense

Testarossa1 · 04/08/2015 19:24

That sounds fab eddie but way beyond my abilities!! ConfusedGrin

hospitalworry · 04/08/2015 20:09

Is the squirrel from enchanted forest?
Love it!
So detailed though.
Done more on mine

hospital no not from enchanted forest, this one is in Animal Kingdom. I'm using my new marco raffine pencils.

LeopardLamp · 05/08/2015 09:02

Hi colourers! I've caught the bug from this thread, here is my first attempt at a full picture from tropical wonderland. May add to it, loved doing it! I got a copy of secret garden last year but the paper was horrible so I never really got into it, but I see the paper has now been improved so may repurchase or order enchanted forest instead..

Just using a set of 24 pencils from wh smith, I really like them.

hospitalworry · 05/08/2015 18:43

I ordered enchanted forest for my adult dd for her birthday and some staedtler noris pencils

FeelingSmurfy · 05/08/2015 20:02

I was treated to a colouring magazine today Smile I haven't had a chance to have a proper look but it is just pictures (unlike art therapy which is about colouring too...which I have never even looked at!). I'm not sure what it is called but the pictures look great, I can't wait to get stuck in but I may wait and use pencils

BlueEyeshadow · 05/08/2015 22:06

I was buying the boys a magazine each to take on holiday today, and I may have added a Zen colouring book to the basket. Planning to take fine liners as the pictures are very intricate, and then I won't have to worry about breaking pencils either. Don't know how the paper is, but I guess I'll find out!!
