Actually looking at that pic it is 2 inches, that one has gone to Knotty, but I don't remember it being that big. Confused

MoaningMicroraptorRoarsAgain · 27/05/2012 16:18

I bodged one loosely based on a flower from Cute and Easy crochet - something like chain5 or 6, join into a ring. About 12 DCs into the ring, then chain 3, treble, treble, chain three, for each petal. I fit four or five petals round I think.

I'll find the book and get back to you Blush

MoaningMicroraptorRoarsAgain · 27/05/2012 16:25

Ok, the actual pattern says
With first colour - chain 6, join into a ring with a slip stitch. make 16DCs into the circle hiding the tail in the DCs as you go., join with a slip stitch.

Join second colour into fastened off stitch.
3ch, make 1 treble into next 2 stitches, 3ch, ss into next stitch. repeat from 4 more times (makes 5 petals in total)

Mine ended up with 4 petals as my DCs were too bunched up and I ran out of room (very crap novice with the crochet)

MoaningMicroraptorRoarsAgain · 27/05/2012 16:30

this was mine with 4 petals plus a button in the middle

MoaningMicroraptorRoarsAgain · 27/05/2012 16:31

oops there was a * at either end of the bold bit, which bolded it by accident.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 27/05/2012 16:36

Pistey - if you have a look at the pic of my squares on myprofile, this is the link to the pattern Flower square. You make the flower first and then crochet the granny square outwards from the back of it but if you had already made the square you could just follow the pattern down as far as either the first (row 2) or second (row 4) row of petals and then attach it by hand. It's an American pattern. It's fairly easy, certainly as far as the first row of petals and even easier if you do it all in one colour.

Welcome, Reindees! Just to keep you in the loop, we know each other because we're crocheting squares for specific people - one thread linked above, i'll do the other in a minute stupid blackberry

You're under no obligation to join in, just thought I'd explain some of the references!

tribpot · 27/05/2012 20:11

Hello hookers. I thought this toddler cardi was rather sweet.

Bumperlicious · 27/05/2012 20:16

Can I join? I'd love to be in a hookey quiche. Have you seen this?

KnottyLocks · 27/05/2012 20:36

Hello, lovely Grin

Bumperlicious · 27/05/2012 20:37

Hello :)

SoupDragon · 27/05/2012 22:43

I am about halfway through my Very Garish Ripple blanket. At least I'm finishing off the first of the balls of yarn.

Hug squares are more or less safe on a shelf.

All hooker talk is welcome here I think. It's nice to have somewhere hookers can gather let's not call it a brothel.

Thank you for the flower suggestions, still experimenting and trying to find one the right size. But they are all beautiful!

KnottyLocks · 28/05/2012 09:53

Soupy, how long was your starting chain for the baby ripple and what size will the finished blanket be?

I've got me a new niece to make for Smile

SoupDragon · 28/05/2012 10:30

After complicated calculations lots of measurements and careful planning folding my big ripple blanket in half, thinking "that looks about the right width" and counting the chain, it came out at 126 plus 3 for turning and will be, er... hang on it's in the garden on my deckchair!... about 24 inches/61cm wide without a border. it will be as long as it ends up when all the yarn has gone or when it looks right! 1 ball of the baby bamboo seems to do 8 rows

Congratulations on the new niece :)

Hi all. I'm starting to run crochet classes at the library in two weeks .

Thought I'd get them to make an easy phone holder, a long rectangle of dc folded over and seen up the edges. What to you think? Any tips?

KnottyLocks · 29/05/2012 11:26

Rum, Bumper Wink

KnottyLocks · 29/05/2012 11:28

Seriously though, GO YOU! I'd be wibbling too. How many learners have you got coming?

KnottyLocks · 29/05/2012 11:31

The closure on this phone holder is nice and easy
