Ah.... I couldn't work out what the difference was just by looking :) Thanks.

Morning Hookers Brew

SoupDragon · 26/05/2012 08:21

Hookers aren't very chatty are they?

Or maybe they don't need as much assistance... Wink

It's because we all know what we're doing, Soupy Wink

I am having a crisis of confidence with my baby blanket. One minute I love it, the other I think it is far too bright.

It's gorgeous Soupy. We had a buggysnuggle in similar colours and I still can't bring myself to get rid of it even though the youngest DC is 6 now, just loved it.

KnottyLocks · 26/05/2012 09:01

Soupy, the blanket is gorgeous, woman! I'd be chuffed to get that. Smile

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/05/2012 09:07

Should add, my DCs loved the bright colours too.

SoupDragon · 26/05/2012 09:17

Like I said - I switch between loving it and thinking "Errrr...." :) I am fairly confident I have judged the intended recipient correctly wrt the colours though and will press on with it regardless of any niggles.

My next worry is what colour edging to put on it...

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/05/2012 09:53

I'd go with the red or the blue, the medium sort of colours, using the dark or light ones will make it unbalanced. I have just finished a three colour ripple cushion and chose the middle colour of the three and it definitely looked right.

SoupDragon · 26/05/2012 10:09

Hmmm... I am toying with the idea of being radical and using white for a rippled edge that looks like clouds. Maybe putting a single line of a pale sky blue round the edge first, depending what my local craft shop has.

I can't use red, green or yellow as I had to order those online and may not have enough.

I have to finish the body of the blanket first mind you :o

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 26/05/2012 10:10

I'm worried about how using one of the rainbow colours will change the overall balance of the blanket.

OP posts:
PurplePidjin · 26/05/2012 10:34

Soupy, if the intended recipient doesn't like it then I'll make you an offer, it's beautiful!

Love the idea of a fluffy white shell cloud border :)

SoupDragon · 26/05/2012 10:51

Lol. Smile As its for a teacher, I'll probably never know if she really likes it or not!

Love the blanket Soupy, what yarn are you using for it? I am a very very beginner with crochet and not got time to to practice ATM but may sneak back another time.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 26/05/2012 11:11

Soupy that is FAB! Grin
I think the sky and clouds border would look lovely! That's what I would do I think.

moaning no idea what yarn soupy has but I used stylecraft dk for a similar project. It is about £2 for 100g and feels lovely for the price. There's also loads of colours. :)

I've done 2 of my MN woolly hugs (tm) squares. I'll get one more out the ball and then it's back to dd's granny squares. They're lovely but never ending! Blush

Whenisitmysleepytime · 26/05/2012 11:13

Here's a random hooky question...

Do you think I could make a hair band for dd (1). would it work? A foundation chain and then a row or two of tr?
She has v long hair at the front which I'm not cutting. But she now rips out clips and it's getting in her eyes and stuck in her bogey nose

I'm using Sirdar Snuggly baby bamboo. Which is about £3.50 for 50g (cheaper online if you search) but makes a lovely blanket - it has a cottony feel and a nice weight to it although it is a light blanket if that makes sense!

No idea about hair bands - but I bet if you looked on Ravelry you'd find a pattern :)

OP posts:
MoaningMicroraptorRoarsAgain · 26/05/2012 11:51

I have used the Sirdar Smiley Stripes which I think is very similar, but, er stripy of course. I wasn't that keen as it split too easily for me(one of those will use up what I have got but wouldn't buy again yarns)

Umamiopteryx · 26/05/2012 12:16

The rainbow ripples are beautiful Soupy!

I am very slowly working on something like this flower blanket, but in rainbow colours. It's very slow going Grin In fact, it's been so long since I did any, I'm not sure I remember how to do the flowers, as they were sort of made up based on the Wool Eater.

SoupDragon · 26/05/2012 13:56

Wow! That flower blanket is incredible!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 26/05/2012 13:57

I do find the bamboo splits quite easily but no more than the Wooly Hugs cashmerino and it recovers well if you undo the stitch and redo it unsplit.

I need help Hookers Grin

I need to find a pattern for a very simple flower that is slightly larger than 1 inch. All I can do is chain, double and treble. I am finishing my squares and they are going on top. I just think the one I can do is too small. I think there is a pic on my profile with Idris.
