Rather, you are correct. In UK terminology it is a half treble crochet. It starts off like a treble, but when you have 3 loops on the hook you yarn over and go through all three then the stitch is complete :)

PurplePidjin · 18/08/2012 18:42

Yo, through st, yo, back through, yo, through all loops on hook :)

SoupDragon · 22/08/2012 22:33

Anyone here able to write crochet patterns? I've written one for a Wooly Hug square and need someone who actually knows what they're doing to re write test it :)

I think it says what it ought to but I really have no idea what I'm doing!

Thank you for doing this Soupy, it will be lovely and very much appreciated. If you send it to me, I will have a go, or at least find you some other testers?

SoupDragon · 22/08/2012 23:06

Have possibly sent a PM.

But it may not have worked.

I'm in, although can't guarantee to do it today :)

SoupDragon · 23/08/2012 08:33

WoolyWoolfe, I'll add to to my list of one for second round testing once someone more experienced than me has sorted the pattern out :o

Pidj, have PMed you :)

PurplePidjin · 23/08/2012 08:38

Pistey already sent it over, will get to it asap Thanks

SoupDragon · 23/08/2012 09:05

It's in US terms! Forgot to mention that :)

OP posts:
aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 23/08/2012 12:57

If you still need a tester I'll have a go, although I shall have to brush up on my US terms as I am not crochet-bilingual

SoupDragon · 23/08/2012 13:41

I had to use US as I wasn't sure what a US Treble was in UK :) extended treble I think or something equally unwieldy.

I shall add you to the list of second testers :) I think 3 people have the pattern now so I'll see what they say and then send it out to a new batch to see if it's the final version. Thanks :)

Can I ask a different favour - I have lost my link to useful online wool shops? Can any of you share you favourite places to buy wool as I'm ready for a new project and need to see if there are any good deals on lovely wool for a throw.

I'm feeling dead chuffed and will probably post a photo later - have finished my throw and the cushion from the leftover wool, plus a teddy bear from 2 other random spare wool balls in my bag!

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 23/08/2012 14:13

Soupy, there are Yarn shop recommendations on this thread

BlackSheepWools have Debbie Bliss Prima at £1.98 instead of £4.50
I am tempted but I'd like to squdge a ball of it in real life first

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 23/08/2012 21:54

Thanks PantryBoy some good ideas there - I also like to squidge a ball but its handy to get an idea of online prices and maybe some 'deals'!

Here's my stuff - am getting very into this crochet lark - and this thread is the reason for the cushion, which was the blanket stitch that someone mentioned further up the thread www.flickr.com/photos/39576748@N00/7846730760/

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 23/08/2012 22:16

Lovely stuff StuckInTheFens - I made a blanket from the diagonal box stitch, I really like it cos it grows so quickly.

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 24/08/2012 15:48

That Debbie Bliss Prima looks a great price - but do you know what kind it is - is it a double knit? Might be tempted as there are some nice colours in that set... If I can figure the type of yarn it is then I may look for something to use it on!
The blanket stitch was great stitch although looks a bit odd when its just a triangle still and took me a while how to figure out the stitches to start bringing it back to a square/rectangle!
Am thinking this pattern may be my next project if I can find the right sort of wool... Something snuggly for winter...

Jodidi · 24/08/2012 18:25

Hi, can anyone tell me what worsted weight yarn is? I'm trying to make a backpack from an American pattern and it says I need worsted weight yarn. Is it dk, chunky, etc? It says 6mm hook so I'm guessing thicker than dk, but I've only ever used dk or 4 ply so don't know what I'm aiming for.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 24/08/2012 18:43

Jodidi, I think it's Aran

Jodidi · 24/08/2012 18:46

Thanks. Off to buy wool now then.

Wolfcub · 25/08/2012 20:25

Evening all. I've just completed square 20 of the christmas blanket, nearly half way there now. Pic on my profile just to show the colour combination (north york moors) if anyone is interested.

SoupDragon · 25/08/2012 20:56

lovely colours :)

Trying to do a square using treble crochet, like a solid granny but in stripes, but isn't there a right and wrong side to treble crochet? So when I get to the end of one row, chain up, I can't then turn the square and go back the other way, can !?

Confused
