I have finally made a start on a blanket which I've had planned for months. I bit the bullet and faced my fear of starting something that is so big and has such a large foundation chain but I have gone with the Attic24 Ripple blanket

Mine is less bright --and rather more like a scarf]]

It's Sirdar Simply Recycled Aran. I used a 5mm hook and it grew really quickly - I started it just after this thread began and got some of the yarn as a Mother's Day present. I think I made it wider than I needed though. Most nights DD1 was sat next to me while I was working on it and the pair of us could snuggle up together under it once it was too big to sit on my lap. I think it took about 28 balls (50g) so it is very heavy and really warm.

The ironic thing is that I made it thinking she would be a poor shivering student needing a bit of extra warmth, and when we went to look around her accomodation the tour guide said that it was very energy efficient and they had only needed to put the radiators on for a couple of weeks in December and January! A bit different from my day when I had to chip the ice off the inside of the windows each morning.

Now waiting for my jelly roll to be delivered so I can start my quilt. Adds quilt to the list of things that MN has made me do or buy since joining Grin

Count yourself lucky - MN is responsible for my timeshare in Antigua! :o

Despite not having finished my own ripple, I have just bought the yarn to make a rainbow striped ripple baby blanket for the teacher DD had in reception last year (DS2 also had her in Y1).

I have more plans than time!

My ripple cushion is rainbowy, as is the granny cushion. Its a bit psychadelic in large blocks, Im glad I didnt go for the full blanket. Though a baby blanket wont be too big.
My latest project is a shells type pattern bolero. I really wanted to make a.boxy lace jacket but the cotton my mum gave me for it is discontinued :( and Im still searching for a suitable substitute
