I have finally made a start on a blanket which I've had planned for months. I bit the bullet and faced my fear of starting something that is so big and has such a large foundation chain but I have gone with the Attic24 Ripple blanket

Mine is less bright --and rather more like a scarf]]

Yahoo I finished my cushion last night! I love it, it's so snuggly and lovely :)
I'll put a picture on my profile in a while so everyone can marvel at it :o

Me too soupy!
Love seeing what everyone has done so far!

And extra impatient as impromptu double napping from the dc earlier meant I got an hour to hook up the border. I think I'm about half way round and feel SO impatient to get it done! Blush

Whenisitmysleepytime · 18/04/2012 21:34

I've finished! Grin

finished ripple

I am ridiculously pleased with it as I've never made anything this big before and it's my first finished crochet project.
Hope my friend likes it for her baby!

Stitchthis · 19/04/2012 06:42

EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy lovely lovely lovely!!!

SoupDragon · 19/04/2012 06:59

Ooooh - lovely! The border really finishes it off doesn't it?

And if your friend doesn't like it, you get to keep it!

Blush thank you!

I do like the border as my edges are a bit wibbly and rough looking. The border makes it MUCH neater. :)

Catsmamma · 19/04/2012 08:02

okaaaaaaaaaaaay,, so maybe i am being and idiot but couldn't you start a ripple by working an uneven row to start with??

foundation chain, turn and then do a couple of dc, then half treble, then trebles, poss double trebles, and then a mirror to go back down..... THEN on the next row it would just be trebles and they'd go up and down???

I shall try that once the new pup has settled, i dare not get yarn out with a 7week old pup in the house!

All these projects are lovely, have really enjoyed looking at everyone's pics! :D

Whenisitmysleepytime · 19/04/2012 08:47

Cat - you probably could but I would still have wibbly edges where I've changed colour.
TBH I am very new to crochet and definitely needed the step by step pics and instructions from attic24 to help me.

Now I can get back to dd's granny square blanket and the fancy wool that didn't really cost out before I started a big project. Shock

SoupDragon · 19/04/2012 09:25

I'm not sure it would work completely. You would still need to to the increases and decreases in the ripple i think - I'm certainly no expert but i don't think you'd get the same pattern.

As for the puppy, my cats try to appear aloof when i am crocheting but sometimes the sight of dangly yarn gets the better of them :o The dog isn't interested at all. It must be genetic!

Whenisitmysleepytime - that is lovely. I really like the border. I like the effect you have got using just one colour (instead of filling in the "triangles" in one colour, then using a diferent colour to do a uniform border all round).

MadameMessy · 19/04/2012 13:01

I can't see it it just brings me to flickr homepage?
Mine is finally on my profile :)

SoupDragon · 19/04/2012 13:17

Here. At least this worked last time!

The cushion is fabulous!

You are so tech-y soupy! Grin

Thanks purple - even colour blind (literally) dh thought it looked good!

Madame - how did you get the size right? I didn't really aim for anything other than "that looks about right" with the blanket. Also how did you finish it? I would really like to make a couple for the living room. :)

MadameMessy · 19/04/2012 15:51

Thanks Soupy
Oh When, it's fab :) well done you! The colours are lovely, and I bet it will hide the dirt really well too (slattern give away!) How did it take from start to finish? How long did one ripple take?

I just chained 14's and kept going until there was enough to cover it, very much a case of "that looks about right" :o It is just a small IKEA cushion, one I got for 99c, probably a foot square? And I did no finishing on it as I just sewed up the straightish sides and then left the top and bottom ripply as dd1 thinks it looks cool like that Hmm less work for me like that though so I didn't mind!
The colours are really off in the picture, only took it on my phone. You can't really see the purple and the yelow looks really pale, irl, it's all lovely and bright :)

Whenisitmysleepytime · 19/04/2012 16:50

Was hoping it'd be a bit stain resistant Wink
I ordered the wool on 9th feb but didn't start it straight away as I was doing squares for mn blankets I think. It's a 140 foundation chain which seemed about right for a baby although my large ds has had a few snuggles under it. I think I could do about 2-3 rows a night (8.30ish till my early bedtime of 9.30) on average - early ones took forever and much concentration. Last ones were much easier and could follow tv programs properly while doing it.

Madame I really like your rainbow ripples - they're very cheerful an uplifting. Know what you mean about the colours- mine don't look quite right either.

I have loved sharing how the ripples are growing. It's very exciting. Grin Blush

Stitchthis · 19/04/2012 22:08

Not sad. Lovely. Wink

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 19/04/2012 22:39

All the ripples are coming along beautifully, I'm almost tempted to make one.

I do appear to have inadvertanty ordered some more wool for another blanket - I currently have two on the go already. I'm hoping it will spur me on to finish one.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 25/04/2012 20:07

I gave my friend the ripple today.

And she loved it!!!! Grin

Baby is due at the weekend and she said he would be coming home from hospital in it! Grin
I feel v soppy now!

SoupDragon · 26/04/2012 07:18

SoupDragon · 26/04/2012 07:59
