Woolly Garlands for Cupoftea's beautiful girls. Knitters and crocheters needed.

KnottyLocks · 30/09/2011 23:15

You may have been following the progress of Cupoftea?s beautiful daughter, Beatrice Primrose.
This project is to make garlands for Cupoftea?s daughters, to include the flowers in all their names and other lovely things. We would appreciate your help.

The idea is to make some garlands similar to this woolly one.

However, we would like to include the following:

Bees for Beatrice
Primroses
Violets and Daisies for Beatrice?s sisters
Flowers
Any decorative motifs
Triangular bunting that we can stitch crochet motifs onto (size to be confirmed)

If you are a knitter wanting to make bunting, garter stitch is preferable as it will lie flatter.

Unlike the blanket projects, these woolly things can be made from any wool.

I will post more details including sizes and links to patterns shortly.

Please sign up if you?d like to contribute.

I have learnt that I can't knit a bunt and watch Spooks at the same time.

Hi Knotty, 4 bunts are on the way to you, with various flowers & a bee attached. My crocheting is somewhat, ahem, freestyle, but the intention was good at least Grin

KnottyLocks · 11/10/2011 18:23

Good intentions is what this is all about, Ophelia Smile

Freestyle is my natural style too!

Piste, looks like the multi-tasking needs a bit of work. Did you forget the gin?

Glad they arrived safely Knotty. Can't wait to see the finished item - will be lovely.

Thanks
MinnieBloodBar · 12/10/2011 20:58

Right, second bunt in moss stitch (also appropriately green) is done, nice and flat although it's a little bit curved at the top (not quite sure how Blush). Should I block it so it's straight at the top? It's curved but flat if you see what I mean. Like a slice of pizza (but not that curvy!).

Also, my first draft attempt is still curly at the top despite being blocked - should I block it again, or will it be ok when it is on the garland-y bit do you think?? Or should I just iron it?!

Can you tell I don't knit terribly often?!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/10/2011 22:55

Knotty, my bunts are shoddy. Blush Tis the edging and it looks dodgy. I really have tried! I couldn't get slip stitching, well I could see how it worked when you started a row but not on the far end. So I have done knit two together.

I do have good intentions, just not good at knitting Smile

KnottyLocks · 12/10/2011 23:00

Minnie, It'll be fine once it's all hooked together, don't worry. Smile

Pistey, send them. I can always put a quick crochet edge on them to even then up. No problem.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/10/2011 23:06

Cheers Knotty. I think the knit two together way is a bit rough and ready looking, it certainly is on mine, and I haven't made much improvement on how it looks since the first one. With or without gin Grin

MinnieBloodBar · 13/10/2011 15:48

Two charlatan bunts in the post today, and I have also made a donation to my local SCBU a mere 12 months or so after they first asked me to Blush Blush Blush. Er, obviously I don't look at my to-do pile often enough...

KnottyLocks · 13/10/2011 16:44

Afternoon, lovely woolly folk Smile

Ophelia and Ria, your packages arrived today. They are absolutely gorgeous. Star

Thanks

OpheliaBumps · 13/10/2011 21:51

I'm glad my bunts arrived ok, but any Stars should be heading your way, for put all of our bunts together Grin

PS Ravelry is just dangerous. The DTs now have a bumble bee & ladybird each, and are waiting impatiently for their moomaids (which are amigurumi crochet for heavens sake - I don't even know what that means, let alone how to do it). I'm not going on that website again while they're in the room!

KnottyLocks · 13/10/2011 21:58

Wise move, Ophelia. It's very addictive.

Honestly though, there would be no bunting without you lovely lot. So the [stars] are well deserved.

Do you sew at all? I have some very dangerous sites I can link to for that.

AND to feed the addiction, may I just add....Pinterest

OP posts:
OpheliaBumps · 13/10/2011 22:29

Hmm, I don't sew yet Grin

Pinterest is fascinating, some gorgeous things and some really weird items ( toilet roll wall decorations anyone?)

NellVarnish · 13/10/2011 22:40

Knotty I'll pop my offerings in the post tomorrow to you - sorry mine are last Blush.

Pinterest is marvellisimo but since I've joined, I've lost hours a bit like MN. Grin

KnottyLocks · 13/10/2011 23:07

Nell, yours aren't last at all. Don't worry. Smile

Pinterest is adding to my crafting 'to'do' list enormously. Bloody thing!

Ophelia, you need to put 'crochet' into the Pinterest search engine. Dare you!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/10/2011 06:40

Nelly - mine will inevitably be last, so don't worry Grin

Had never heard of Pinterest, but I've just had to look with you all banging on about it. Shock

Loved looking at the pics, but could only aspire to making any of it! I wouldn't know where to start Blush

NellVarnish · 14/10/2011 10:04

Ah but Pistey, tis not just making. There's collecting, buying and wanting too well there is on mine. Grin

trumpton · 14/10/2011 10:25

Just finishing mine off. Ok if I post today. One bunt in pink with pale yellow B. Can you pm me the address to post to please.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 14/10/2011 10:33

I have the yarn and experience to make a primrose or two if these are still needed - are they? Where should I send them to if so? Please let me know. I've only just heard about cupoftea, but I think it's a lovely idea and would like to contribute to some MN karma after all the (more generalised) support I've had from MN.

KnottyLocks · 14/10/2011 12:26

MakesCakes, I'll PM you. Smile

I'm now officially on Pinterest Grin Cheers Nelly Thanks

I'm not really sure how it works (I have to follow someone, is that right?) but I am looking at gorgeoise stuff and enjoying it!

Last posting day tomorrow then.....
Time to tackle pesky ends methinks...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/10/2011 18:40

Am bunting like the clappers here trying to finish my past one Grin

Do you want left over wool from bunts? Only I have some pink that is not the normal blanketeering wool, and some cream that is.

I'm sending you the purple already for edging I think? Do you need any more purple after that?

Wine
KnottyLocks · 14/10/2011 18:49
Wine

You could send me some the non-blanket wool. I can always make more flowers and bunts with it if needed. Or edge others.

I'll have a clearer idea if we need more purple for Whatever's blanket by Sunday. Send what you have, then we'll see.

Bunt like the clappers, my lovely Grin

Wine Just finished my bag of flowers for you Knotty, will get them in the post in the morning.

Most of them are not very garish, but I have put some in which were left from a previous unfinished project, made from cotton (Peaches & Creme I think) and they could possibly be a tad on the bright side. Feel free to bin them do as you please with them. If I remember cos I am old, I'll take pics before I post them and put on my profile.

Pistey I am following you now stalker alert on Pinterest. If you want to follow me, I am here - there's some crochet and some almost dead peonies on my profile pic on there.
