Title says it all really.
Tell me about the lovely things you have been making, any craft. Pictures/Ravelry links would be great.
I like to crochet but I've found myself in a bit of a rut and want to be inspired and find some motivation to make something, even if its a totally different craft.

On sunday morning, while suffering from a bout of insomnia, I made myself a tunic top which I then wore to work today! Grin

Moomin I love your quilt, so pretty and looks like fun! I have a quilt idea in my mind but not yet confident enough to attempt it! Must sew more...

OnlyWantsOne · 20/06/2011 21:27

Overnydeadbody did you know your quoted in the new Mumsnet rules book?

overmydeadbody · 20/06/2011 21:42

Seriously? I had no idea. What was the rule? What was my quote? I'm all a flutter.

prolificwillybreeder · 20/06/2011 21:51

Overmydeadbody- love the tunic, I am very jealous! (it's pipplin btw) I would love a wallet, I cannot find one anywhere I like :( but it needs to be quite sturdy/ toddler proof, any ideas?( DS was chewing my oilcloth wallet the other day)

Purplepidjin- are your bib bandanas backed with towelling or similar? Will they be ok to wash a lot? If the answers are yes I shall be placing my order once I've finally given birth!

overmydeadbody · 20/06/2011 21:58

Thanks piplin!

Well, what kind of wallet would you like, apart form it being toddler proof and sturdy? Another oilcloth one? I recon you could make yourself a fabric one that would fit the requirememnts, if you interfaced it or used sturdy fabric, as the best thing about them is that they're completely washable, just bung them in the machine.

OnlyWantsOne · 20/06/2011 22:06

Overmy I will get my book in a bit. Love the tunic

Bibs - yes backed with towling. I'm making some for DD Right now, will be on blog tomorrow night :)

prolificwillybreeder · 20/06/2011 22:51

I think probably oil cloth yes, I just can't be trusted with nice delicate fabric.
I am debating making my own duvet cover and pillow cases- can't be that hard? I'll do poppers at the bottom I think. I just cant find one I like. When on earth did I become so particular?

Great thanks purplepidgin Grin I am sick of looking at the plain navy ones DS had. I want funky ones for my new arrival :)

OnlyWantsOne · 21/06/2011 08:12

Off to fabricshop to get oil cloth for my new wallet orders.

Had some good ideas for things for craft fair yesterday.

What insurance do you lot have for craft fairs?

stealthsquiggle · 21/06/2011 08:28

oooh - a thread to add more things to my list of stuff which I would do if I had time.

DD is nagging me about her new curtains, but recently all I have made is bags for DC to take to parties - 2 lovely girly handbags for friends of DS and a tote bag with a gruffalo on (which I was really, really pleased with) for a Gruffalo party DD went to. Also a school bag for DS which, I have to say, is pretty cool - it has a dragon curled around the outside, and on the inside is the dragon skeleton.

trouble is, they are only posted on flickr and my username there is my real name [dither] (oh and one of the handbags I forgot to photograph - I need to mug the small girl in question and ask her to let me take some Blush)

...and I assembled some Clothkits dresses for DD and Goddaughter, but they don't really count Grin

Next on the list (other than DD's flipping curtains!) are bags to contain bottles of wine as end-of-year teacher presents.

Lesson in life: don't start 'traditions' (bags for party children, bags for teachers) which you don't have time to maintain. We don't even talk about the 1/3 finished scrap quilt which was started before DS was born (he's nearly 9...)

moominthecorner · 21/06/2011 09:28

Ooh put a picture of the dragon bag up on yr profile here please - it sounds brilliant! Ikwym re traditions ... My lot get cross if I'm not making toys for them.

Kryshees · 21/06/2011 11:26

Onlywantsone, feel free to make the same!!! I'm in the middle of ideas and copying/inspiration tbh...as for example, cutlery pods...my friend said she had somthing similar and said it was cool, so I nabbed the idea (without seeing the original tho) and made my own.

I think the only thing you can do is make as you see fit!!! If you can make the item your own, well why not.

Equally if someone came along and copied somthing everso special, like the advent calendars by coldcomfort, to me it feel a bit wrong.

This week (and the following) I will be mostly making 5 lil bridesmaids dresses!!! ARGHHHHH

stealthsquiggle · 21/06/2011 11:26

random shots of dragon bag on profile now - I must get DS to pose with it, it makes a bit more sense when you see it on, as it were - he carries it as a messenger bag.

Now on my desk is a pack of murano glass beads (like these - basically 'fake' Pandora beads) which were a pure impulse purchase on ebay - anyone care to inspire me as to what I could do with them (teacher presents, maybe?)?

cloudpuff · 22/06/2011 10:38

I love that tunic top overmydead. Its really really pretty.

queenmaeve · 22/06/2011 16:37

overmydeadbody · 22/06/2011 17:39

Thank you cloudpuff!

I like the dragon bag stealth!

overmydeadbody · 22/06/2011 17:45

Welcome to blogging cherrymonster, be warned, it is very addictive! Grin

Love the bed caddy, I keep meaning to make a similar thing for the car for DS, to hang on the seat in front of him. On my never-ending list!

OnlyWantsOne · 22/06/2011 18:10

Can one of you help me - I seem to have lost my way.

I tried making bandana dribble bibs for dd2 today, everything went wrong and Im now feeling very deflated. I need a pick me up

Im feeling pfffty about fabric, I want to buy some nice fabric, dont know where from as local shop is AMAZING but doesnt have any modern stuff, just cath kidston style, no amy butler etc

and zips - ive had 7 orders for wallets now, where best to get decent zips from>

im not making the wallets til my teflon foot arrives

coldcomfortHeart · 22/06/2011 19:08

onlywantsone what about Fabric Rehab? Not the cheapest, but some stunning fabric and lots of fun modern stuff.

Treat yourself Smile

OnlyWantsOne · 22/06/2011 19:50

Oh my god thats so expensive!!!

overmydeadbody · 23/06/2011 08:20

onlywantsone order your zips in bulk from Ebay, you can buy job lots of them, from 25 to 100, different sizes or all the same, quite cheaply.

Don't you have aJohn Lewis near you? They have lots of Amy butler fabric.

Alternatively, I use efabrics all the time, but admittedly it's not 'funky' fabric, just all the staples like plain cotton, spotty and stripy and floral stuff, but I love them, they are quick and always post the day I order.

OnlyWantsOne · 23/06/2011 11:15
