Title says it all really.
Tell me about the lovely things you have been making, any craft. Pictures/Ravelry links would be great.
I like to crochet but I've found myself in a bit of a rut and want to be inspired and find some motivation to make something, even if its a totally different craft.

Nice bag over!

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 15/07/2011 19:36

I don't have a picture, but I have recently finished a mohair scarf/stole, with tiny beads knitted into both ends of it. It's cerise, and the beads are iridescent blue, green, red, gold and crystal.

queenmaeve · 15/07/2011 23:59

moomin thats lovely! will go and comment now on your blog

overmydeadbody · 16/07/2011 09:27

Staying your scarf sounds amazing.

Moomin love how brave you were, just chopping that dress in half!

moominthecorner · 16/07/2011 14:01

More foolhardy I'd say...haven't had any ricrac time today sadly.

pollyteapot · 16/07/2011 20:50

I just swa this thread and there are soooo many lovely things you all make - I am so jealous cos I wish i could sew properly (cushions and cards, that's my project for nest year). And for those who have FB pages, you have a new liker Grin

If I can post, this is my latest soap offerings - the ones I made last night still need to be photo'd but they are a lovely turqiuose blue, my 1st attempt at that, so i'll post a pic of that when I can.

Here is my latest soaps - i hav no idea how to post a pic, so here's a link to my FB page www.facebook.com/#!/misspollysoaps.

I decided to make some curtains for DD's playhouse. Bought fabric, bought pink bobbly stuff to edge it. Cheated and got wonderweb for side and bottom hems!
Have finished one and half finished the second. They look very sweet but are taking an age! I am not a regular crafter, so its handstitching and going v slowly.

overmydeadbody · 16/07/2011 21:39

Oh My Gosh polly teapot, what on earth are you talking about?! YOu are amazingly talented, with your beautiful soaps! I attepted soap making once, it was a disastr, sewing is much easier. I am in awe of you.

Today I made a messenger bag for a girl who struggles with doing up buttons, so I covered the front of the bag in buttons and then make fabric flowers with button holes in the middle for her to attach to her bag and customise it. Hopefully that will help her get used to doing up buttons. You can see the bag here.

overmydeadbody · 16/07/2011 21:40

Wow Beamur, ahndsewing does take ages! Well done to you for your perseverence, I'm sure your DD will really appreciate it!

pollyteapot · 17/07/2011 08:02

Thanks Overmydead body - i likemy soaps, but I think if I can do it, anyone can - no self belief! But I would LOVE to be able to sew. i will have more time on my hands soon and sewing would be a great way to pass the time cos I can;t make soap when DS is about.

And your messneger bag is gorgeous! Those flowers and buttons are fantastic.

BTW, how do i follwo your blog? I am only used to the blogger thing and don;t see the follow button? (tis early on a sunday, that's my excuse for being dim)

NorksAreMessy · 17/07/2011 08:21

Oooh, lots of brilliant sewing ideas. Am supposed to be packing up to move house, but can't bear to pack up my workroom.

This week I have mainly been helping DD with a thousand origami cranes project that she is doing for a friend. I have NOT been allowed to fold any cranes, but I have had fun cutting out squares of magazines, old atlases, Boden catalogues etc for her to make into cranes. Our favourites are 'scrabble crane' and 'tiger crane'. (DD has named a few of them, Maris, Niles, Frasier and my most Favourite...Denny Crane)

BumperlicicusTotalus · 17/07/2011 10:14

Hello all, loving the projects. Omdb that bag is a fab idea! How do you all find the time to do so much. I really struggle and am back to work tomorrow so going to have even less time.

I have finally started a blog though. I will link it when not on my phone. It is pretty bare at the mo so you will have to be patient. I'll probably name change as I'm not sure how public I am going to be but if you try hard enough you'll will probably make the connection. I just don't want it to be instantly connected with me.

Any blogging tips? You all do so well, not sure I can keep up!

overmydeadbody · 17/07/2011 11:36

Thanks Bumperlicious, looking forward to seeing your blog!

Polly you can follow my blog by clicking on the sign me up button at the bottom of the page. I think that will work.

DillyTante · 17/07/2011 15:22

name-changing regular announcing my new blog Dilly Tante

overmydeadbody · 17/07/2011 15:50

Nice boobs.

I see you're on wordpress. A good tip is to frequently click on tag surfer (you can find it in the left hand menu bar when you've clicked on site sats) and then visit and leave comments on lots of other blogs (you can searhc blogs by particular tags, so you could search for crouchet and knitting blogs, and breastfeeding) and then when you leave comments on other people's blogs, about what they have written, it encourages them to see who you are, and that can generate more followers and subscribers, and a sense of community with other bloggers.

moominthecorner · 17/07/2011 16:08

Hi dilly - glad you took the plunge!! Are you joining the MN network too? Nice layout. When I have a mo I'll link to you if u want...

DillyTante · 17/07/2011 16:33

Great, thanks Moomin. I'm going to try and join the network, not sure if I need to be a bit more established though?

moominthecorner · 17/07/2011 17:04

There's a mix on there. Go for it! Grin

toomuchpizza · 18/07/2011 11:22

Hi everyone. I've really enjoyed looking at all the lovely things you've made. I'm new to sewing but am really enjoying it. I'm another fan of patterns by Made by Rae and have made a few buttercup and lickety split bags in the last month. I've also had a go at the wallet that some of you have made and it went well, I just used printed cotton and it's fine but I might add some wadding in between the outer layers next time.

I'm thinking of starting a blog, more for my own benefit - to keep a record of all the things I make. I need to think of a name first but will come back when I get it set up.

toomuchpizza · 19/07/2011 19:58

I'm all set up now - my blog

moominthecorner · 19/07/2011 21:40

Finished my marathon ricrac session on my new summer top made from a cut down maxi dress. Haven't posted pics yet but am quite pleased now I've finished it. Lots of ricrac!

SewCrafty · 21/07/2011 22:45

I'm very proud of a Cath Kidston fabric tea cosy i've made, with hand embroidery. One of my friends asked me to make 2 of them for her friends, but i'm not allowed to put it on my facebook page yet as it's a surprise for her friends. Not my fav fabric but I can appreciate it! It's on my profile page. The bottom says "One cup is never enough"!

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 22/07/2011 11:25

On friday my dsis is coming to visit, and is going via my mum's, to pick up several things - including mum's collection of fabrics that has been sitting in a huge wicker costume trunk in her bedroom for years! She used to do a lot of crafts and patchwork, but hasn't for ages, so I am inheriting the whole lot (I think). I can't wait to see what comes, and what I can do with it - though dh is having a total pink fit about where on earth we are going to store it all!! Grin

moominthecorner · 22/07/2011 18:49

EnvyEnvyEnvy nick I inherited my mums stash 10 years ago and saved a scrap from every fabric. I've got them cut into hexagons and one day will make a memory quilt. God knows when Sad
