If you can knit AT ALL could you please CAT either of us?

We are making a blanket present with a Mn connection and would love as many people as feel willing and able to contribute a 15cm square, plain or fancy as you like, in cotton double knitting yarn. We can help with sourcing suppliers.
More details available off-board.

It's a surprise for the person in question, so please, please contact us for more info rather than make guesses etc on here...it's in an extremely good cause.

Very many thanks to anyone who feels able to help. XXX

I am mostly working in tangerine cotton glace

Is dusty pink OK! All my wool is up in the depths of the loft and I won't be able to get to it yet. I have found an odd ball of cotton soft DK in pink, will that do?

bundle · 20/10/2005 10:52

oh lovely

Dingle · 20/10/2005 10:59

Sorry, haven't replied by email yet, but my square is well and truely started. Do you have enough takers? Do you still only need 1 square from each of us?

Have loads of ideas now......really have been fighting the urges of my knitting bug recently. Got my card making stuff every ATM, can't possibly get all my wool and patterns out too!

Oh dear...what have you started.

Marina · 20/10/2005 11:02

Think pink, think multiples. Seriously Dingle, one square is fab, so is five
Please only do as much as you can and absolutely no more!

send me the details and I'll do some.
just finished a lovely debbie bliss jumper in deep red cashmerino for ds2 last night - he looks very handsome (and quite autumnal) in it!!!

I'll do some squares before I move onto my next project - for the new baby....

bundle · 20/10/2005 11:11

knitting squares is so therapeutic..

Marina · 20/10/2005 11:17

It is, isn't it bundle. I made huge progress on mine this morning while parked on a stinky, delayed SE Trains mobile dustbin outside London Bridge and my head did not come to a point at all.

Pph, thank you. I have sent you a CAT.

Have been knitting away, really enjoyed it. Only have 2 row moss to do and I am done. Well I might do an extra little embellishment, not sure if it will work out yet!
Thank you for making me dust off my ol' knitting needles ladies.

tamum · 20/10/2005 11:22

You do realise this is all a cunning plan to make people start knitting again, don't you We had better be careful about chatting too much about the details of our squares I guess, in case we give the game away.

Thanks so much everyone, it's great to see this response

bundle · 20/10/2005 11:24

who's doing the making up btw?

princesspeahead · 20/10/2005 11:25

give me a quick idea of colours you want - I'm going out in a mo and can pick up some cotton when I'm there

tamum · 20/10/2005 11:25

You

tamum · 20/10/2005 11:26

Pph, I don't want to say too much but anything really- I would be inclined to go for bright colours, maybe?

princesspeahead · 20/10/2005 11:26

okeydoke

LadySherlockofLGJ · 20/10/2005 11:27

Please can you CAT me. I will try.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 20/10/2005 11:28

Hold on, is this a cunning plan by Baby W to keep us off MN.

Marina · 20/10/2005 11:32

It's yoo-hoo bundy. Ds would be better than me, all my jumpers look like they were knitted to order for Richard III.

OP posts:
bundle · 20/10/2005 11:34

have you seen my overstitching???? even with step by step debbie bliss et al masterclass in one of her books it's pretty atrocious

tamum · 20/10/2005 11:36

Maybe a few of us could do sections? I don't mind trying but I'm not much cop either. Damn, do you think we should have thought of this first?

bundle · 20/10/2005 11:38

am going to my crochet corner next week...will try and pick up a few tips

Marina · 20/10/2005 11:38

It's looking like it's ds then

OP posts:
bundle · 20/10/2005 11:40

i once did that flat seam business - used eg for drop shoulders where you don't want the bulk - on a stripey jumper and it looked OK..maybe we should have a mass knit meet up once we have sufficient squares. crochet corner is usually held in wine bars...

Marina · 20/10/2005 11:41

I am better at flat seaming but we are talking relative here. The wine bar sounds good

Ooh yes, a valid excuse for me to come 400 miles for a knit-in, hurrah
