Hi girls - i hope this becomes a useful area

Yay - fabulous news kittens - I'm so pleased!

As for me, after a glass of wine last night, I woke up needing to pee at 3am - which has always been my first symptom of being pregnant, as well as a common side effect of alcohol. So, in my half asleep state, it struck me as a good idea to pee on a stick. Which of course, given that it was 3am and dark, meant that I couldn't promise I did it right (I know - all you have to do is pee on the thing, but I was very tired!). I then spent the next half hour trying to work out whether that really was a hint of a line or whether I was just willing it to be there. Grrr. I just shouldn't keep sticks in the house - its too much temptation!! But now I think I'll have to buy one of the expensive digital ones and try again tomorrow - am meant to be spending the afternoon at a beer festival, so probably best to check before I go.... It was so feint it could well have been a sleep-deprived mirage, but clearly I'm going to think about nothing else today anyway.... xx

Havingkittens · 27/05/2010 09:30

Haha, been there, done that! Fingers crossed for your LP. I spent the whole next day going back every 10-20 mins to look at it.

Just off to work now but will look in when I get home to see what the outcome was. x

Oops, double post. Something wierd happened.

My pregnant musing of the day.... If I bring up my first cup of coffee can I start from scratch on my caffeine allowance for the day?

Cantdothisagain · 27/05/2010 14:05

Ooooooh tentative congratulations LP. Keep us posted as the result with the digital test...

it's getting exciting round here!

MimsyStarr · 27/05/2010 22:55

Great news Littlepoot - hope you get digital confirmation tomorrow. Hope it is good news again.

And great Kittens that the scan went well. On the caffeine - Yes I would say you deserve another coffee after that! Are you just having morning sickness, or is it lasting all day? How's your shoulder now?

Shangrila, you are making me crave dark chocolate magnums now! Your DS is going to be a chocoholic I reckon. My DS had a bite of my first magnum of the summer last week. It was a revelation for him - his arms were flapping like mad and eventually he wrestled the stick off me and finished it himself.

Numpty, are you finishing work tomorrow? Hope you have managed to get some sleep. x

NumptyMum · 27/05/2010 23:20

Hi Mimsy - lol at your DS wrestling your magnum off you, can just picture him doing it! Hope you enjoyed your glug of wine at the weekend to make up for it .

I'm actually working this weekend - an activity weekend for 12-16yrs!! but there are only 7 of them plus me, another staff member and 3 young volunteers so hopefully not too exhausting. We're only doing 2 activities, I'll NOT be joining the gorge-walking but was considering the canoeing (canoes are rafted as our participants may have hip problems). Then I remembered it might involve wearing a wet-suit... which would NOT be a good idea! Or as my DH suggested, I could wear 2 wet suits, one to half way up under the bump and the other on top. That would look great... So will see how it works out.

Then I'm back in the office on Tuesday as I've not got everything done yet - but hopefully for that one day only.

Mimsy - would you fancy meeting up again next Thurs avo? When do your folks arrive, is it Fri?

LittleP - hope the stick shows in your favour...

xx

NumptyMum · 27/05/2010 23:21

Mimsy - could do Weds avo if Thurs too busy...

Havingkittens · 27/05/2010 23:23

Hi Mimsy - not really morning sickness as such yet, just a sensitive gag reflex after brushing my teeth which only happens when I'm pregnant - eughh! Still, I had been wondering why I'd not been feeling sick and now I realise it's because it's so much earlier than I thought. I hope I will be lucky and not suffer too much but it may still creep up.

My shoulder is still stiff and a bit painful but certainly better than yesterday. I'm hoping it eases off on it's own now as I can't face repeatedly forking out £50 for acupuncture.

Littlepoot, I'm on the edge of my seat! Will be looking in tomorrow before heading off to work.

Good luck Numpty with your final 'tying up' of work. I hope you can switch off and relax once your maternity leave is official.

Everyone else (and, of course, those mentioned too) have a brilliant Bank Holiday weekend. I have many awkward 'why aren't you drinking' moments ahead of me this weekend, starting with OH's birthday tomorrow!

Havingkittens · 27/05/2010 23:25

x posted with Numpty.... don't get your bump wedged in the canoe!

LittlePoot · 28/05/2010 08:31

Woo-hoo!!! Those digital ones are much easier to read in the middle of the night aren't they?! Middle of the night toilet trips are not my favourite symptom of pregnancy but I can't tell you how happy I was this morning when I realised I'd woken up at about 4am so it wasn't just a one off. And sure enough, the stick has confirmed that once again kittens, I'm about 2/3 weeks behind you! Will make this afternoon's beer festival a bit less fun, but surely I could manage half a pint?? Maybe.

I'm going to go and grin for the day....

xxxx

NumptyMum · 28/05/2010 08:39

Woo Hoo LittlePoot!!

You could always have a shandy to celebrate... might not work so well with good beer/ale though

NumptyMum · 28/05/2010 08:39

(in fact asking for a shandy at a beer festival would probably get you thrown out...)

LittlePoot · 28/05/2010 08:46

I was thinking a cheeky half of cider maybe? That way I can always move onto the apple juice the cider man sells so that no-one else notices. xx

allstarsprincess · 28/05/2010 08:54

Wow. Congratulations Littlepoot.

Have a lovely day. A cheeky half followed by apple juice is a great idea.

Numpty, sorry need reminding, when is your date? It has just occurred to me that I follow you and you are nearly there!!!

NumptyMum · 28/05/2010 09:01

Morning Allstars - my due date is 30 June; however DS was 12 days late so I'm not expecting a prompt appearance.

What's your due date? How are you feeling? I'm def getting big now. Was packing for this activity weekend and in finding cardigans that actually stretch over the bump realised just how bizarre I'll look if I do have to get into a wetsuit (if that is even possible...).

allstarsprincess · 28/05/2010 09:14

I am 31 July. Getting much bigger!

DH looked into diving whilst we were away (it is something we love to do) and when in the kit area the woman dive master did say they would fit (not for diving in but for snorkelling in the colder waters), I was tempted but it is not a look I would want to cultivate! We did a boat tour to watch whales instead.

shangrila · 28/05/2010 13:44

Yay Little Poot. That's just grand!

Enjoy your cider. I'll do what's only fair and raise a glass to your good news tonight. With all this excellent news flying around and the resulting celebrations, I'm turning into quite a lush. Any excuse!

Sunny weekends to one and all but particularly to clever LittlePoot. x

Havingkittens · 28/05/2010 15:26

Yay! That's brilliant news LittlePoot. What a great way to start the holiday weekend. Blimey, we're quite well syncronised aren't we? You may even be closer behind me than you think considering my recent revelation!

Have a great weekend all of you.

katiecubs · 30/05/2010 14:39

Just got back from my hols and checking in to see some super news! Congratulations littlepoot i am so happy for you!! Also great news on your scan Kittens - a heartbeat is a very positive sign indeed

Hope everyone else is doing well? I had a lovely relaxing holiday and am now faced with a rather pressing task of finding somewhere to live - our buyers want to complete in a couple of weeks!! Going to have to push back on them as we went to Hove the other day to start looking for places and apparently 2 bed garden flats/houses are like gold dust at the moment so thats super news!

Other than that feeling well and not too tired yet - my one gripe at the moment is horrendous indigestion, it's making me so sick it's hard to sleep. I have to keep a stash of emergency gaviscon on my bedside table!

Love to all Katie xxx

I just got mumsnet to change the thread title to 'pregnant or TTC' just to make sure all the TTC'ers feel most welcome

Mishtabel · 31/05/2010 06:04

Hello everyone,

That was a great idea (re: thread title) Katie. Glad your holiday was so relaxing, though don't envy you with the pressured house hunting. We had the same problem last year when our house very suprisingly sold the first day it was put on the market. I'm sure something will turn up

Littlepoot, what fantastic news!! You and Kittens being so close again is nice, you'll pretty much be dealing with the same things at the same time. And Kittens, I remember reading that mc risk goes way down once heartbeat is detected - I can't remember by how much as my baby-making days are OVER (despite what DH likes to think). My pregnancies have always measured 2 weeks behind - except for Bella - and then, what do you know; when she was born they said she was probably a week or two younger than they thought.

Not long to go now Numpty (and Allstars). Hope you're getting to actually enjoy the pregnancy and aren't as much of a stress-head as I was. We should be hearing from Katerina any time now....

And hello Cant, I'm still around. Have just been lazy/busy depending on how you look at it. Had colour selection appointment for our new house last week, so had to do boring, yet neccessary, 'research' into what colours I wanted. On one of the forums I visited, alot of people had their own blogs about their building process, mainly to keep friends and family up to date. As my family live interstate, I thought I would do the same. Although I wouldn't expect any if you to be interested in my building process, I have (and will put more in the future) some shots of the kids, so feel free to visit and have a look ( jenandmicksjoint.blogspot.com ).

Better go pick kids up from school - it's about to pour here. Hello to everyone I haven't mentioned

PS. Good to see you here Coffee. Hope you managed to have a peaceful time in Paris. Might be seeing Drama here soon too! Love to all xxx

NumptyMum · 31/05/2010 08:51

Hi Mishtabel, good to hear from you - and love the blog! I always used to love the idea of being able to design my own house but think I'd never make a decision because of too many choices... In the UK we have a great programme, Grand Designs, which follows all sorts of 'home-build' projects, from very pricey/lots of money ones to do-it-yourself (and get loads of mates) to help ones. The one I liked best was by a guy who was a charcoal burner and who couldn't build a 'permanent' house in his wood due to planning restrictions. He built a straw-bale house, with timber frames and tiles - it was a really lovely project. So in our imaginings we sometimes think we'll build a straw house... but I think we're too lazy to actually do it. Maybe a straw play-house, one day when we have a garden...

Love the profile pic on your blog - I'm guessing it's one of your girls? She looks very glam.

Will be back to write more later, need to organise to go out on a daytrip and small boy would like to watch Chuggington... xx

Crazycatlady · 31/05/2010 13:26

Just popping in to say, and congratulations to littlepoot!

Miserable grey day here in London. Was hoping to get out in the garden but it's a bit chilly...took DD to Battersea Park this morning and she completely wore herself out running around in the wind and clambering all over the playground.

Am a total Grand Designs addict Numpty. I'd love to design my own house, how exciting Mishta!

Crazycatlady · 31/05/2010 13:27

Doh! ... in to say... 'hi'
