Welcome to the newest thread of support for those ladies who are pregnant or trying to conceive after terminating for abnormalities. Since this thread first began (almost ten years ago!) there have been stories of heart break, sadness and fear, but from these stories there have also been stories of happiness, success and most importantly, hope.

@kiki275 I actually feel a lot of relief as I’m so fed up of not being able to see anyone and do anything. We’ve also told immediate family and close friends as I have a very supportive network so don’t have the concern of what they might say.

There is no way for me to hide anyway tbh as I look very pregnant, I’m much bigger than with my first born and would easily pass for well over 20 weeks!

Kiki275 · 23/02/2021 16:58

Thanks ladies. I am hoping the 20wk marker will help.
It's the boys 1st birthday next month, really close to Mother's Day. With the stress of the refurb going on as well, it's all getting a little bit too much for me.
This too shall pass xx

It will pass @Kiki275 and you'll get stronger. Sending a virtual hug x
I hope you're able to do something nice to remember them.

Kiki275 · 23/02/2021 19:59

@Bbf25010320 was thinking about you earlier. Hope you're okay?x

Has anyone suffered with terrible headaches? I’m 16 weeks now and I’ve had one since yesterday afternoon and it woke me in the night. I’ve tried paracetamol this morning and it’s not done anything. I’ve contacted my midwife and waiting to hear back as it’s making me feel sick. xx

Kiki275 · 24/02/2021 10:59

@Mummabear40 are you fully hydrated?
Might be worth trying one of those Forehead sticks?
Hope it clears soon x

Mummabear40 · 24/02/2021 11:04

@kiki275 yeah definitely hydrated, I’ll have a look at the forehead sticks though as I need to try something.

NoCallerID · 24/02/2021 11:44

@Mummabear40 I did around 14-16 weeks. It was awful and the only thing that helped was ice (you get these jelly filled freezer compresses) and sleep.

Mummabear40 · 24/02/2021 14:00

@NoCallerID I’ve still got it, I’m going to have to get the freeze things and forehead sticks as I just can’t get rid of it. x

Kiki275 · 24/02/2021 14:25

I know you're supposed to be careful with caffeine levels but try taking your painkillers with a cup of tea or coffee.x

@kiki275 I felt like you too. I was happy in my own little bubble and am not sure about telling people at least until 20 weeks.
@Mummabear40 oh no! I had it in my last pregnancy. It just went off by itself in the end.

Alice40p · 25/02/2021 21:19

@Mummabear40 hope you are feeling better today.

Mummabear40 · 26/02/2021 07:01

@Alice40p yeah, I had the headache for two days and it seems to be my sinuses as my nose is getting so bunged up, particularly over night.

I hope you’re good?

Alice40p · 26/02/2021 09:46

I’m having the same problem at the moment. I don’t have a headache but my sinuses are blocked, especially at night!

Kiki275 · 26/02/2021 09:59

Same here. Annoyed because apparently Calpol plug ins aren't suitable during pregnancy... I love them 😭 (will probably still use too) x

Alice40p · 26/02/2021 21:49

@kiki275 oh no! I think mine is hayfever. It seems to have started early this year but my GP said it is not safe to have antihistamines in first trimester, so I think I will just have to ride this through!

Mummabear40 · 27/02/2021 07:47

@Alice40p I had to do the same with my first born, I had terrible hay fever but couldn’t take anything 😭 I thought This could be the start of my hay fever but it’s so much worse at night x

Alice40p · 27/02/2021 22:52

Mine is worse at night too. It makes it difficult for me to sleep at night!

Mummabear40 · 03/03/2021 09:11

Hi All, how is everyone doing?

I’ve made it to 17 weeks and heard the baby’s heartbeat yesterday for the first time which was really emotional. I’m exhausted as not sleeping well, combination of bad dreams and nose getting blocked at night, but other than that I feel fine.

Kiki275 · 03/03/2021 09:39

@Mummabear40 that's lovely news!

I'm 15 weeks but they won't attempt Doppler heartbeats here until well after 20 weeks so it's just the long wait for the next scan for me. My sleep is awful just now. Just a mixture of stress and discomfort. I bought a Kally pillow which has helped but there's not enough room for us all in a double bed. Desperate for my house refurb to be completed but still a few months yet. There's a super king sat in storage which I really need back in my life x

OP posts:
Mummabear40 · 03/03/2021 10:19

20 weeks feels like such a long wait doesn’t it!

I need to get a pregnancy pillow as I’m uncomfortable and keep moving onto my back in the night. I bet you’re desperate for the house refurb to be finished and get in that bigger bed! x

Hi everyone,
I am having NIPT this Sunday and am so so nervous about it. Just hope everything is ok as we have decided this is our last go.
The due date for my TFMR pregnancy (T21) is only a few weeks away - I don’t feel that anyone else in my family who knows what happened feels much about the approaching due date- but it’s thrown a lot of feelings about for me. Mainly guilt and sadness.
Just want to get the next week or so out the way when the results from NIPT will come back.
Glad this thread is here and that I know I’m not alone with these feelings.

Alice40p · 05/03/2021 22:06

@CrispMonster12 hope everything goes well with your NIPT! I had my booking appointment this week and my NIPT is the week after. Just want to safely get to the second trimester now.

CrispMonster12 · 06/03/2021 16:49

Hi @Alice40p, thank you and congratulations! I will be thinking about you at your NIPT, it’s an anxious wait for the results! Just hope it’s good news for us both xxx
How many weeks are you? I think I’m about 11 xxx

Dia12 · 06/03/2021 17:54

Absolutely feel what your going through @CrispMonster12, my tfmr due date and NIPT results were around the same time. Very tough week and like you mentioned, family didn't say much about it. I didn't like that much but decided for my own sake not to give it any more energy. You've been blessed with this wonderful new life...and it will be fine, you will be fine.

Keeping everything crossed for your NIPT @CrispMonster12 and @Alice40p.

Do give ARC or SANDS a call if you feel need the extra support. I found it really helpful.
