RomillyJane · 07/06/2010 22:04

andiem · 07/06/2010 22:05

No not at all

purpleturtle · 07/06/2010 22:05

YADNBU

lindsell · 07/06/2010 22:07

YADNBU - I wanted to slap her!

mophead5 · 07/06/2010 22:07

God...wish I had been able to get her to come to my shop. Maybe then I wouldn't have gone out of business.

How can people be so stupid to turn down professional advice like that?

Honest to God, I just wanted to twat her one!!!

That business will hit a slump now the customers know she uses packet mixed for speciality breads.

On another thread on here it's been disclosed she's got 36 yrs experience - she should have said.

mophead5 · 07/06/2010 22:10

ha ha ha ...love that last remark. DH just asked me why I'm laughing

OP posts:
BreevandercampLGJ · 07/06/2010 22:11

What a vile intransigent[sp] old biddy.

And if she is doing so well for herself after 36 years, why is she still living over the shop ?

Oh that will be control.

She asked Mary Portas to visist here, Mary Portas did not just arrive by accident.

ClaireDeLoon · 07/06/2010 22:11

YANBU

violetbat · 07/06/2010 22:13

I love Mary's hair!

Ladyanonymous · 07/06/2010 22:13

YADNBU - I love Mary Portas!!

I wanted to hide behind the sofa when she was rude to the baker they visited - cringing I was!! Excellent

lindsell · 07/06/2010 22:13

I felt v sorry for the baker Paul who seemed really decent, imagine having to work for her!

pigletmania · 07/06/2010 22:16

YADNBU What a rude, horrid lady, of course she needed a slap. Why the hell call in Mary Portas if you dont want to change things and turn your business around for the better. Oh I know, she wanted a free make over for her shop, it will need more than that. Well if her buisness goes out of business on it be her head.

pigletmania · 07/06/2010 22:17

She was horrid and underminded her professional baker, I would be out of there like a shot, he is just too nice. Fancy working for someone who undermines your skills and your professionalism. She was rude to that poor baker in the Cotswolds, now its on national tv to see just how horrid sheis.

mophead5 · 07/06/2010 22:17

I really felt for Paul...poor sod, all that potential and enthusiasm crushed by an ungrateful boss.
And where did she get off slagging off an award winning baker like Tom...what a prat, she deserves to lose her 36 YEAR OLD business.
You just cant tell some people...like talking to your DH sometimes!

OP posts:
hellymelly · 07/06/2010 22:19

Yes,I felt very sorry for Paul. And also she was just shooting herself in the foot, she was so terrified of change and so unwilling to accept any help that I can't understand why she asked for Mary in the first place.Mary was astonishingly patient, she must be an amazing mother.(YADNBU btw)

tethersend · 07/06/2010 22:23

How long had she been in business?

bellavita · 07/06/2010 22:23

I love Mary Portas!

domesticslattern · 07/06/2010 22:30

Yay to Mary Portas!
Boo to miserable bakers!

Tidey · 07/06/2010 22:31

I'm pretty sure she said... 27 years was it?

tethersend · 07/06/2010 22:32

Sounds about right. I'm sure she would have said if it were longer.

oprahfan · 07/06/2010 22:37

Never in my life have I wanted to hit someone so much........love Mary Portas, to not listen to her advice is just asking for it. That bakery won't be on the go for much longer, thank god I don't work for that stupid old ratbag with 36 years of &&£"!%...and I'm a baker as well!!!!!!!!!! Long live cake!

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 07/06/2010 22:44

I couldn't believe the nasty grin she had on her face when she'd just told Mary Paul 'didn't have time' to make the speciality breads.
The whole time she had a face on her and was positively recalcitrant as well as intransigent!
She obviously thought the shop could do with a lick of paint and she'd get it for nothing - but surely the researchers should be weeding out knobs like this?

Ladyanonymous · 07/06/2010 22:46

OLOPS Yup - esp when there must be business people crying out for expert help like Mary's.

She was like a naughty child

LynetteScavo · 07/06/2010 22:50

When I open up my bakery, I will have Paul baking the bread.

And I felt quite sorry for Angela's(?) son, as he was obviously quite embarrassed about his mothers behaviour.
