I've only got very hairy boys thankfully as I like headbands. No to ponytails, clips, earrings etc but I am partial to a flowery headband or two.

poocatcherchampion · 12/07/2012 17:26

Open - it was all going so well until you suggested that girls should wear pink and boys blue to show off what gender they are.. sitting with my girls blue vests in the wash...

*op

PaWithABra · 12/07/2012 22:11

thanks NarkedRaspberry

PaWithABra · 12/07/2012 22:14

thanks Scarredbutnotbroken DeathMetalMum and everyone for the tips..

And whist i am sure the beckahms are not the epitome of good taste i'll bet they dress better than most of you lot.

Whirliwig72 · 12/07/2012 22:15

I agree - headbands are horrendous. I'm not keen on piercing a little baby's ears either Sad.

PaWithABra · 12/07/2012 22:17

my little boy likes to wear hair clips ..... does that make him a chav ? or is it only head bands we are judged on ??

ThePathanKhansWitch · 12/07/2012 22:25

Once the parents aren't beating the babies with the headbands, I couldn't give a fig tbh.

No need for them at all; they look uncomfortable

HexagonalQueenOfEverything · 12/07/2012 22:46

And chavvy

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/07/2012 08:50

show of hands - I see your Sil and raise you my Sil, who put her 4mo dd in a tiara for her christening...

PaWithABra · 13/07/2012 23:05

solved it !! we bought a big purple flower hair band in debenhams and sewed in on a little hat destined for the charity shop. The flower is as big as her haed . she is so cute !!!!!!!

MabliD · 13/07/2012 23:29

DD has one to wear next Saturday in her role as 'small screamy dribbling bridesmaid' at my friend's wedding. Of course, I also live in an ex-council house so it is automatically allowed, no? Basks in chavdom your judgy tears sustain me Grin

PatFenis · 13/07/2012 23:38

Hairbands on bald babies - no!!

However I have a friend whose little girl was born with sooooo much hair it was untrue! She had to put clips in her hair from birth as her hair was so long it was in her eyes.

By the time she was a year old her hair was collar length and needed cutting into a short bob! Its very strange and quite un-nerving seeing a really small baby with so much hair actually - I used to speak to her as if she was a toddler and expect a response Grin

PaWithABra · 14/07/2012 00:39

MabliD

Ex council house ? ... you mean you bought it ?

I am aware this is an old thread, but i just thought i'd balance the argument a little.

My daughter of 8 months wears her hair in a pineapple style, she wears headbands (favored over clips that she could choke on as they slide out of her fine hair). Her hair is 4inches long on top and i'd rather "chav it up" with her hairbands than find out she is going blind by leaving it dangling in her eyes.

I'm not a "chav", i don't live in a council estate, though if i did that wouldn't make me any different, maybe a little better off financially!

And, as well as working full time, i also make and sell suitable soft elastic headbands, for people in my position, who want to protect their daughters eyesight. In all honesty, i love the way they look.

Why on earth are half of you generalizing the mums into "chav" category and "that type of Mother" for the choices they make and how they dress their children? it's indirect bullying, stereo-typing and only leads to discrimination.
Round of applause for you.

i agree, share your opinion on whether you like or dislike the headbands, but surely we don't all need to be shoved into a "scummy" category.

For the mums blessed with hairy babies, or babies that need help keeping the hearing aids in, i hope some of you think before name calling - that sort of thing happens in the playground, probably due to children being raised with the same narrow minded views.

thebeesnees79 · 20/09/2012 16:07

I can't stand them either. Each to their own lol.
My daughter had tons of hair when born but no way was I sticking one of those ugly things on her head

Kalisi · 20/09/2012 16:15

Urgh! I cringe whenever I see them! Just like baby boys in flat caps.

Hersetta · 20/09/2012 16:57

hate them, hate them, hate them.

Generally I find they are worn by babies with mothers deperate to actually proof the baby is a girl (and usually in my experience by babies who have yet to grow into their looks shall we say).

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2012 17:02

Oh no, please don't Zombie-resurrect the Lolling threads. They hurt the most of all.

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2012 17:02

Though slight guffaw at 'mums blessed with hairy babies'

IvorHughJanus · 20/09/2012 17:07

Thought Gabby had come back then. Not so. Sad

GoldenBabooshka · 20/09/2012 17:12

DS was strangely hairy when he was born.

He grew out of it unlike DH who resembles Sasquatch most of the time.

WelshMaenad · 20/09/2012 18:22

It's hair, not dangling razor wire. It isn't going to blind her. Stop perpetuating the horrific chavvy headbands and talking crap to drum up sales
