counselling.

It does seem the 'in thing' at the moment. doesn't it? What ever happened to just getting on with life? stiff upper lip and all that.

It seems that the answer to every problem on here is "get counselling'.

OP posts:

'However did we earn ourselves the right to be called Great Britain?'

Well, obviously we didn't, 'Great Britain' was a propaganda construct of monarchs in previous centuries who wanted to reduce the number of wars they were having to fight and/or make those who they had conquered feel they were part of something other than a conquered tribe. Not knocking it exactly, countries and people can call themselves what they like, hence the number of Democratic Republics run by maniacs in the world.

And up until that period, the areas that now constitute Great Britain were Catholic, and so the population had priests to confess to on anything up to a daily basis, with the seal of the confessional protecting their conversations from seeping into the community.

So I blame Henry VIII for counselling. QED.

SirBoobAlot · 24/05/2010 20:17

Poor poor you. How dare we respond with anything but full agreement and praise? Oh wise yondan, please tell us how to reply!

Or better yet keep it to yourself - then you'll get the answers you want.

yondan · 24/05/2010 20:18

maktaitai

Is this correct, or as I suspect you are really extracting the urine. I mean, is this really where counselling started?

Very strange logic. Still, if it comforts you, then who am I to complain. The vultures have descended, lol.

Plus, the hope that OP will make a Freudian slip is keeping my interest piqued.

Kaloki · 24/05/2010 20:30

The vultures yondan...?

maktaitai · 24/05/2010 20:30

OK, to clarify, there are four paragraphs in my previous post. The first was a quote from yours. The second was serious and was expressing a belief that your quote was based on an erroneous concept of history. The third was serious and was expressing a belief that 'counselling' is not a new concept and was something that many religions find room for, particularly a form of religion that was politically excised from the nation at around the time the concept described in the second paragraph was becoming prominent. The fourth paragraph was indeed a joke, but though clearly not a very good one.

I'll try footnotes and a few more emoticons next time.

yondan · 24/05/2010 20:31

To everyone.

I think I have already won this debate, don't you? It seems that the vast majority's answer to my original post, is to request that my post is deleted. Do any of you not see how hilarious this is. I will not feed those troll's out there, any longer. End of, lol.

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 24/05/2010 20:32

yondan are you often troubled by persecutory unfounded beliefs?do you frequently use such hyperbole. Vultures, how very histrionic of you

maybe wee bitty counselling do the trick

tethersend · 24/05/2010 20:33

The vast majority of... one poster.

Can you get maths counselling?

SirBoobAlot · 24/05/2010 20:35

at maktaitai. Think that might be a good plan...

SirBoobAlot · 24/05/2010 20:38

If by "won this debate" you mean you have proven yourself to be Oh So Innocent after insulting a great number of people, admitting your fundamental idea came from the Daily Fail, and screaming BULLY after being told to fuck off, then yes, you have indeed won. Congratulations.

KurriKurri · 24/05/2010 20:43

Are you in fact JSP Yondan?

Your query about 'Great Britain' is strange do you consider a country to be 'great' if its people do not ask for and receive help when its needed? During WW1 people began to observe a phenomenon called shell shock - what we would now call PTSD. It was a while before it started to be treated as a valid condition, a 'wound of the mind', before that they just shot people with these type of disorders. You might do well to read the Regeneration Trilogy by Pat Barker, which deals with this period in history.

I don't know anyone who has had counselling because they were a bit fed up. I had it after I was diagnosed with cancer - so I could stop spending every minute of the day and night in a state of terror about dying.

My son has had it for his bipolar disorder, he chose CBT over drugs because he felt that treatment was right for him. It hasn't 'cured' his bi polar - that's not a possibility, but has allowed him to cope with it better for the time being.

Others on this thread have given examples of the instances in which counselling was used. I haven't read a single one I would class as trivial, your constant belittling is offensive. I am cross with myself for rising to the bait and revealing my personal circumstances. So will bow out of this thread now.

scottishmummy · 24/05/2010 20:45

JSP is a game old burd she wouldnt be scared of a wee profanity.given she has worked in journalism for donkeys years jsp has heard worse in the canteen

Kaloki · 24/05/2010 20:48

How strange. Maybe we should group together to raise money so yondan can go for counselling?

Roxylox · 24/05/2010 20:49

Oh my gracious.

If ever there were someone who would benefit from counselling, you, Yondan, are just that person.

Tell you what? Try it.

Just think about it, someone to listen to whatever you say and not judge you.

You seem to respond very readily to judgement. Especially if you feel it to be negative.

Just think...a whole hour where nobody calls you a twat...

scottishmummy · 24/05/2010 21:03

denial isnt just a river in egypt
