I am afraid to say some of my "friends have joined this" www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=122816717742919.

Please report it.

I can't find anywhere where this banning of the England flag and wearing of England tops has been reported in the media. I think it is just another hyped up facebook group designed for BNP supporters to express their ignorance.

I am so with you. I logged onto FB earlier to see on my news feed that three of my friends have joined this group. I am so bloody pissed off about it and really want to write a witty status re: these twats but I don't know how to do it diplomatically, I'm afraid

ravenAK · 19/05/2010 22:45

Yeah, seen loads of these today.

I think it originally comes from a court recommendation that eg. publicans can impose dress codes (such as no footy shirts, including England shirts) IF they choose to do so...

...& then the Sun got hold of this & spun it as a 'ban' on 'our flag'.

I've been depressed today to discover how many gullible racist twats I number amongst my FB acquaintance.

Stretch · 19/05/2010 22:45

Oooh, have just put a thread in chat about these!

onebadbaby · 19/05/2010 22:47

Same here- don't want to offend friends, but would like to comment to show I disapprove. Maybe someone can help come up with a witty status that the rest of us can post on our profile.

You could try ostentatiously joining this group.

I know, it's a bit sad & tit for tat!

try this? I "liked" this, and some of my "friends" got the message!

cupcakesandbunting · 19/05/2010 22:49

Well, I've just posted a link to it in my status and wrote "please report this racist group" so hopefully that will tell my friends that I disapprove without upsetting them, even though I am seriously re-evaluating these people even being on my friends list

onebadbaby · 19/05/2010 22:50

OOOh good idea raven. I will.

OP posts:
Stretch · 19/05/2010 22:50

"Nobody is banning any England shirts, you gullible xenophobic fool."

This is my status! It's also a page/group.

FTR, I worked in a pub 10 years ago and we weren't allowed ANY footie tops in, or baseball caps/nakedness etc..

Just another excuse to be racist.

OldMacEIEIO · 19/05/2010 22:51

What is this Book face thing you lot keep banging on about ?

is it important or something ?

TinyPawz · 19/05/2010 22:53

Disgusted to see my aunt has joined this group.....we not even English FFS!!!

cupcakesandbunting · 19/05/2010 22:53

It's kind of important, OldMac. It's allowed me to work out who among my casual acquaintances is a racist fucking knuckle-dragger anyway.

I can't believe that people fall for this utter bullshit. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.

And breeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeathe.

TinyPawz · 19/05/2010 22:55

That didn't come out right....sorry.

DuelingFanjo · 19/05/2010 22:56

someone I know joined this one

it's pissing e right off. This is all whipped up by the Sun.

sungirltan · 19/05/2010 22:56

reported. you know whats really daft is that the pubs banning flags thing was a rumour about pubs in boston lincs. the lincs police have since released a statement saying they have investigated it and that only one of the sixteen pubs in boston has a shirt/flag ban.

i lived in boston for a year in 1997. one pub had a footie shirt ban year round. i'm happy to make an educated guess and say its the same pub bannning the shirts...ten fecking years later.....so its not even news!!!

SomeGuy · 19/05/2010 22:57

well it is stupid, but there are no grounds to ban it.

cupcakesandbunting · 19/05/2010 22:58

Just taken a look at the wall posts on that group and I think I would be taking an easy shot if I said that the people most vehemently defending "the Engerlish" are the least articulate in speaking English.

Stretch · 19/05/2010 23:00

Hahahahaha!!

Quote from DuelingFanjos link

"I totally agree alan, its the government that makes us racist by allowing immigrants to come into our country anyway."

Really?

DuelingFanjo · 19/05/2010 23:01

loads of groups on facebook unfortunately but I do like Facebook to start charging for you not to be able to wear England shirts

cupcakesandbunting · 19/05/2010 23:02

GOD, I so want to join just to tell the knuckle-draggers that they're a bunch of thick cunts but it would be like banging my head off a brick wall, I fear.

Nasty, small-minded, any-excuse-to-be-racist fuckwits.

DuelingFanjo · 19/05/2010 23:02

"well it is stupid, but there are no grounds to ban it."

the only people 'banning' it are some pubs.

sungirltan · 19/05/2010 23:03

fanjo - i dont even understand the second group?

ravenAK · 19/05/2010 23:03

No one IS banning it, SomeGuy.

If you are a publican, you have quite wide powers to refuse entry to customers wearing footy shirts/bike club 'colours'/scruffy workwear/twinsets & pearls...

There is no suggestion, outside of xenophobic bollocks in the more bottom dwelling tabloids, that anyone is 'banning' the England flag per se.

Although frankly, this sort of racist crap makes me disinclined to celebrate my 'Englishness', anyway.

cupcakesandbunting · 19/05/2010 23:04

I think that SomeGuy was referring to the group being stupid...

Stretch · 19/05/2010 23:05

not racist, but sick

Fucking grim!

And lots of young kids 'liking' it.
