I can't find anywhere where this banning of the England flag and wearing of England tops has been reported in the media. I think it is just another hyped up facebook group designed for BNP supporters to express their ignorance.

I agree that all football shirts should be banned!

They are made from cheap crap static inducing material, look positively horrendous and shapeless and are totally over priced. I wouldn't want to drink in a pub full of them just out of pure taste...

If I owned a pub I'd go one step further and ban accessorized Elizabeth Duke at Argos jewellery too.

Some great facebook groups on here I am defo joining the one RavenAK suggested.

I am Welsh and never have a problem with the English flag or the Union flag being flown, neither do any of my Nepalese/Fijian/West Indian neighbours (Army qtrs), it's all done in good tast and fun here. It's not so much the flag but the people who do it to be confrontational rather than supportive.

I really want to join so I can go on there and tell them they're idiots but then everyone will think I agree with it and socially ostracise me.

However, before you defriend people, prob best to check if this is why they joined- there are increasing numbers of people fighting the corner of reason.

I'm actually thinking that come the time, so many people are going to be putting up English flags etc. that it'll take the wind out of their sails. People like this thrive on feeling naughty and hard done by.

I think if I were in England (as once I was) I'd put up an English flag and wear an England T-shirt just so that I could annoy people like this by making it clear they're in the majority, when they love to feel they're in a poor downtrodden threatened little minority.

TheBride, if I did that I'd post something on my FB status saying that I was about to join it so that I could post reasonable stuff.

I would really like to point out to these dolts that when I worked in a job centre signing people on, I rarely signed an "efnic" on. Usually white males even though the office was in an area with a dense pakistani population.

Disclaimer: absolutely not saying that only white people sign on, just that IME not many minorities sign on...

I've always said decent (non-racist) english people should claim back the flag like women (feminists) tried to "claim back the night". The English flag should be made something to be proud of again and that would mean racists would have to find another symbol of their own.

The trouble is that although you can point out that the Sun thing was unfounded, people do remember the efforts from last time round to ban flags here and there (even if anecdotally/in one office carpark/whereever).

Like I've said before, this is just another story that has been totally skewed and distorted to provide these morons with another justification for their Billy Englander casual racist mentality. Tell them the facts (the police issued the ban advice) and they'll distort that.
