to hate the BugaBoo (or however you spell it)

that's it really. I don't even 100% know why but I can't stand them. Some reasons are they are horrible colours and ridiculously expensive, unnecessary to spend that surely? And it seems to me (round here anyway) that BugaBoo owners are v smug - "only the best for my children" types. Someone I know insisted on getting one and they have so little money that half the time she can't afford to even get on a bus to do anything, so she and her kid sit inside all day, pretty much every day. Better to get a cheaper travel system and let the poor child get some fresh air IMHO... ooh, they just really make my blood boil. Happy to be put straight by proud BugaBoo owners

My hair isn't highlighted and I am a natural blonde thank you very much, it is however now cut into the standard SW London, shoulder length with the slight layers at the end look.

I bought a backpack to use as a changing bag (from a hiking shop), but I was most careful to ensure that it was black with blue trim so that it worked with the bee.

I don't wear Boden though (and I don't know anyone who does which is weird cause I would have thought from what I read on here that this is the group that is referred to as "Boden Wearers").

Today I noticed that lots of mums had grey shirts on and jeans (as did I). Actually, this is starting to be a bit concerning, is there some sort of hive mind or something?

Bicnod · 19/05/2010 21:14

I love my bugaboo bee. Got it secondhand from a lovely lady on mumsnet I started off with a very cheap heavy and clunky pram thingy off ebay but DS quickly outgrew that (thankfully). Then I got a maclaren buggy which he hated as he couldn't see me and I ended up carrying him in the sling and pushing an empty buggy which was a tad annoying. Finally I got the bee and he has been happy as larry in it so worth every penny IMO.

I have highlights but DH did them (and he's not a hairdresser) does that count?

Morloth · 19/05/2010 21:15

Nah, cause the lambskin/bugaboo is about making me happy not them.

Besides I am only a pretend yummy mummy, my kids still get told to "Suck it up" quite a lot.

LordVolAuVent · 19/05/2010 21:15

Oh God, Boden. You are on fire Morloth.

Its the caffeine from all of those coffees.

ginhag · 19/05/2010 21:40

Still feels a bit shit, thanks for asking VolAuVent.

My ds is accostomed to sleeping in an interesting mixture of sand, tiny cars, biscuit crumbs and the occasional patch of snot/sticky calpol.

We do own a footmuff though. Footmuff footmuff footmuff. Ds's legs are too long for it now.

dorisbonkers · 19/05/2010 21:40

prams are naff (but I accept for some people and some circumstances, they are necessary)

Giving a crap about them beyond a brief run through whether they a) work, b) fit in a car or on a bus, is beyond naff.

ginhag · 19/05/2010 21:41

Accostomed?????

LordVolAuVent · 19/05/2010 21:45

Hive of Glamour, lol! I'm wondering about that Morloth, did you meet these people post Bugaboo, or did you all decided to get one at the same time, IYSWIM? How did this Hive come about? Because I see these Hives about in other places than the one you describe.

Do you mean I am naff, doris, for hating them, or the Bugaboo owners are naff for liking the colours/accesories?

tethersend · 19/05/2010 21:45

I can't believe the strength of feeling on this thread...

Ah well, I have a vintage silver cross, so I win prams

ginhag · 19/05/2010 21:47

VolAuVent I think you should make a list of all the things that annoy you in order to assess how unreasonable you actually are. So far this thread we have:

bugaboos (of course)
people that own bugaboos (except me)
lambskins (except on lambs I assume)
birkenstocks
feet

although on the 'like' list so far we have

converse
footmuffs
little snacky cup things
stumpy fingers

jeananddolly · 19/05/2010 21:48

Where I live (Crouch End) dissing Bugaboos is High Treason and PUNISHED ACCORDINGLY.

I heart mine. They give a percentage of their profit to AIDS research doncha know.

(would love a vintage Silver Cross really...and a butler and gravel driveway to go with it)

ginhag · 19/05/2010 21:49

I think there are more prams on the 'gggrrrr' list but can't remember/don't care what they were...

tethersend · 19/05/2010 21:50

Actually, it's a fucker on gravel. Mind you, you could always get the butler to push it I suppose...

LordVolAuVent · 19/05/2010 21:51

Ginhag, the list would be endless. I am a v unreasonable person, and also v judgey.
You missed Boden.
I really get extremely annoyed by poor spelling and grammar, especially misuse of apostrophes.
Anything beginning "the people's..." eg princess
The word "moist"
And so many more things.

I don't like much if I'm honest. That's probably a comprehensive list. Except I think I'm pretty great

OP posts:
ginhag · 19/05/2010 21:57

I hate the word 'boogie'.

And the apostrophe nonsense, although I catch myself cocking them up on mn. I blame my phone (of course.)

Actually I could possibly come up with quite a list myself. Wouldn't be as long as yours though of course

jeananddolly · 19/05/2010 21:58

Yes, the butler would push. And so would Nanny (as played by Wendy Craig)

I hate Stokkes - they are owned by a certain TYPE aren't they?

LordVolAuVent · 19/05/2010 21:59

I also hate ugly people. And racists. Jamie Oliver. Bananas are foul.

OP posts:
tethersend · 19/05/2010 21:59

Are they the ones that look like office chairs?

tethersend · 19/05/2010 22:00

If you hate ugly people Jamie Oliver sort of goes without saying.

ginhag · 19/05/2010 22:00

Oh VolAuVent,sorry...was Boden meant to go on your 'Like' or 'Dislike' list?

LordVolAuVent · 19/05/2010 22:01

Do you really, tethersend? I think those are hilarious. I sincerely hope you dress the children appropriately (ie in dresses, especially if they're boys, and those woollen tie under the chin hats) whilst they're riding in it.

OP posts:
LordVolAuVent · 19/05/2010 22:03

Strongly dislike Boden, ginhag.

Don't hate Jamie Oliver so much for his ugliness, tethersend, more for the fact that his tongue doesn't fit in his mouth.

Hate people who say "play date"

OP posts:
PosyPetrovaPauline · 19/05/2010 22:05

i have a bugaboo and a silver cross - let me tell you -thank god for progress!

LordVolAuVent · 19/05/2010 22:06

Cannot bear Amanda Holden
