was a woman in asda with a small (maybe 4 months ish) baby, in a pram.. he was crying, she leaned into the pram said "why dont you justshut the fuck up" then turned to her friend and said "he never stops fucking crying"

not only is that not ok (in my book) but her friend didnt look shocked!

What are you on about?

jonicomelately · 27/04/2010 19:24

Maybe I should just print off some of these posts and use it instead of Andrex. I mean, if somebody can call me a cunt...

BuzzingNoise · 27/04/2010 19:25

Do I have the right to disapprove of cheap loo roll?

elliemental · 27/04/2010 19:25

Fio, I've been skint.
I'd rather wipe me arse on newspaper (the Daily Mail springs to mind) than have my fingers going through...

Really, Fio? The fingers going through is the worst thing about cheap loo roll.

toccatanfudge · 27/04/2010 19:34

I use cheap loo - fingers have neer gone through here either.

toccatanfudge · 27/04/2010 19:36

anyhow.........I've just had a torrent of swear words thrown at me by DS1.......they weren't all ones that I use either (I have rather a limited range of them), it wasn't pleasant........but I'll live

BuzzingNoise · 27/04/2010 19:37

I guess Ellie and I are a bit too enthusiastic with our wiping.

BuzzingNoise · 27/04/2010 19:37

Are you sure Tocc? I can call SS on your child...

toccatanfudge · 27/04/2010 19:40

oh I am quite positive...... many of them I definitley don't use, ever!

jonicomelately · 27/04/2010 19:40

You are hardly a four month old child are you toccatanfudge.

toccatanfudge · 27/04/2010 19:41

well DS2 is extremely enthusiastic with his wiping........and he's never put his finger through either

toccatanfudge · 27/04/2010 19:42

and jcl - I may as well be the ability I seem to have to be able to deal with my oldest

jonicomelately · 27/04/2010 19:43

I think that's called passive aggresssion toccatanfudge.

toccatanfudge · 27/04/2010 19:43

no it's just called being a shit parent

jonicomelately · 27/04/2010 19:45

I'm pretty sure that isn't true toccatanfudge.

jonicomelately · 27/04/2010 19:51

Skidoodly, Alice Miller died today. Perhaps you should read some of her work and then think about whether I am a cunt

lucky1979 · 27/04/2010 19:53

Just to balance out the ASDA snobbery, when I went their today I had a lovely conversation with a random mum about when to start babies on follow on milk as I asked her a question when I saw her buying it. Two old ladies also cooed over DD AND I got a good deal on some weaning bits as they have a baby event on. All vey civilised.

I've heard quite a bit of swearing in my (old) local Waitrose though, although admittedly that was on the Holloway Road so presumably their chav sensors had overloaded and given up.

lucky1979 · 27/04/2010 19:54

there not their

Vallhala · 27/04/2010 19:55

Hang on! Where does it say that the woman shouted at the babe? Some posters are making it up as they go along, seemingly anxious to paint the worst possible picture.

The OP said, " she leaned into the pram said "why dont you justshut the fuck up" ". No shouting involved.

I know what it's like to have a screamer. It's soul destroying, leaving the mother a walking zombie. Sometimes it's better to snap "Shut the fuck up" than to just snap.

tillywee · 27/04/2010 20:52

I think some people are overreacting...everyone gets stressed and pushed by there kids.

I bet most parents have cursed at there kids if they can bear to be honest about it.

It doesn't make this woman a bad mum and to suggest that she does worse to her child is outragous, very judgemental and you have no proof just from that one incident. The poor women probably needs someone to turn to.

Oblomov · 27/04/2010 21:52

I find Alouise really really frightening. I hope she doesn't live near me.
no swearing at a baby is not nice. not great. no one is condoning it.
But warrants a ss referal -although she didn't actually ring alouise threatened to call ss.

I find this an over reaction.

I hope alouise never fails or does anything bad in her parenting life.

HettiesMum · 27/04/2010 22:27

What a charming bunch of mothers (?) you all sound !
