You don't see who whining about the Sun newspaper? Do you mean the Sun newspaper who practically came in their pants when Samantha Fox was sold to them by her parents, and got her 16 year old breasts out 'for the lads'?

Ps do men whine? Or is that yet another word to describe what occurs when women utter anything other than "Yes, darling, of course."

toccatanfudge · 21/04/2010 23:52
  • just seen the website it's on - I was just looking at the product
RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:52

Ive already stated my views on men posing naked as well I believe...they are professionals risking life or limb and deserve more respect than getting naked to please some randy old women/men

Haha your like a book i knew you were going to say that, in fact i bet dh a tenner you would, so ta for that i am a tenner better off, i was not attacking merely stating a fact.

and if your allowed your own mind, shouldnt others be allowed too

luciemule · 21/04/2010 23:54

PMSL at the 'click to enlarge' title under the calendar!!

RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:54

Tiredmum- whatever, as usual a sterling contribution to a thread.

If society was truly equal in terms of pay and opportunities, if women weren't the subject of physical and sexual violence, if 33% of juries didn't blame a woman for rape if she had been flirting (could go on) then I wouldn't object in the slightest to this calendar. However, we have to view it within the context of our society and in my opinion within this context it isn't ok because it simply reinforces the objectification of a woman's body and the idea that the use of a woman's body to raise money (for whatever cause) is acceptable.

So in response to the OP YANBU

Ladyanonymous · 21/04/2010 23:54

Yea but RRW....I think you care more than anyone serving does....

Pronoia · 21/04/2010 23:55

The basic difference is that it is extremely difficult for the average women to physically overpower and sexually assault an average man. It makes, therefore, very little difference if a woman is left thinking that men or not people, that they are object to be used, because she cannot actually use them. She's generally simply not strong enough.

Other than that, there is no difference between male nude calenders and female ones, and I don't like either of them. It sends out the message that as long as you have attractive genitals, you are still useful to the world.

RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:55

If my DH was here i'd be having a snuggle with him not taking bets on a MN thread- maybe get out more?

OP posts:
Tiredmumno1 · 21/04/2010 23:55

men always whine, they are worse than women

RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:56

Is that a fact Lady- have you asked everybody who is serving's opinion? Interesting.

OP posts:
Ladyanonymous · 21/04/2010 23:56

RRR surely what a woman choses to use her own body for is up to her??

scaryteacher · 21/04/2010 23:57

'Yes, indeed, the women who have to acquiesce to survive in the forces will agree wholeheartedly'

What are you talking about? Acquiesce to what precisely?

'Some people actually have a mind of their own you know! ' Yes, that's why they're not PC and can enjoy this for what it is, an attempt to raise money for a good cause in a light hearted manner. How many Forces personnel do you know RRW? I'm a Forces daughter, wife and sister, 44 years and counting, and the Forces personnel I know (and their wives) would think this is a good way to raise money.

Lucie - I've been sending Cosmo to db, does that count as too racy?

luciemule · 21/04/2010 23:57

I'm betting that the number of army wives who think the calendar is 'vile' is almost 0%.

Ladyanonymous · 21/04/2010 23:58

RRW what a ridiculous thing to say...have you asked the same? My partner is serving...so I have a pretty good idea of the general consensus....

pigletmania · 21/04/2010 23:58

No RRW not only service men posing naked, men posing in general for porn, escorts, strippers etc. Gosh lighten up you lot nothing wrong with grown adults taking their kit off, there is enough misery and sadness in this world as it is, nothing wrong with a bit of lightharted fun.

No my dh would not find it demeaning, if he was bi he might like it, but he is not batting for the same side as far as i know

RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:58

I know many forces personnel actually- many in the Royal Marines and several in the RAF- does that make my opinion less valid than yours or something?

OP posts:
luciemule · 21/04/2010 23:58

Cosmo is fine I think - FHM+ a no-no me thinks.

scurryfunge · 21/04/2010 23:59

Is the choice real though Ladyanonymous? Is she making the right choice or is she merely acquiescing to survive?

RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:59

Im betting even if they did think it was 'vile' it wouldnt be acceptable for them to say so, for some strange reason...

OP posts:
Tiredmumno1 · 22/04/2010 00:00

Actually we are snuggling as we have been all evening, and why would i want to go out, i am comfy right here, with magic in the backround, its relaxing actually, ta for kind of enquiring, oh dh says hi.

i think i should get the gold medal for talking shite.

RedRedWine1980 · 22/04/2010 00:01

No comment on your last line tiredmum- lovely to see although im in the minority with my views here nobody else has stooped to your level.

OP posts:
Ladyanonymous · 22/04/2010 00:02

Does it look like it lacks enthusiasm?

And no RRW...but I would reckon I had a better idea than you what the general consensus is....which is what you were questioning me over

luciemule · 22/04/2010 00:02

army wives are allowed to talk and have a midn of the their own and if they thought it was vile, I know they would say. The majority of forces dependents are very strong people and ruthlessly stick by their partners and the wonderful job they do.
