I also help service morale by getting naked regularly.

luciemule · 21/04/2010 23:30

here,here scary.
D|on't forget valpoll - there are many, many women out there serving too.

scurryfunge · 21/04/2010 23:31

The first thought I have about supporting anyone in their objective is not "oooh, I had better take my clothes off". Could these women not think of anything else but the titilation of the troops?

RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:32

Oh so the women who are serving out there will be grateful for this little effort? I know I wouldn't be!

luciemule · 21/04/2010 23:32

TBH, I'm not even sure whether the guys in Afgahn/Iraq would see the calendar - we aren't allowed to send rudey mags out in the post to our Dhs because of the religious nature of the countries.

luciemule · 21/04/2010 23:33

No - I just meant that everyone's assuming it's the women being 'behind their lads' but there are serving women personnel too.

pigletmania · 21/04/2010 23:33

Its not for mens titiation or lusing but women might probably like it too, i might buy one. Would those taking the moral high ground do so if the calandar was full or near naked male servicement then! No i dont think so. I think that some of your fail to reasise women are indiviudals in their own right not just as women but as individuals able to make their own decisions. They are not children, vulnerable etc but are adults who can if they want to pose in that way whether its to raise money for charity or in Playboy. Oh what do you think of Playgirl the female equivalent and the men posing naked in them.

Ladyanonymous · 21/04/2010 23:33

OMG....more depressing is probably being in a war zone...and light relief from that is probably this kind of thing...what did you want them to do? have an intellectual debate on DVD to raise funds and then post it to the boys in War Zones to watch when their shift ends?

Taking this way too seriously IMO....

RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:33

And im sure it will give the residents of Afghanistan an even better view of us western women. Grrrreat!

galletti · 21/04/2010 23:33

YABU. They wanted to do it. Their husbands/partners are out there in the most horrible conditions, and they knew how to raise the most money - Good for them. Nudity has been selling for years and years (like hundreds). I personally wouldnt do it, but they were happy to do it. I can think of so many other things in our world at the moment that are vile, and this is not one of them.

littleducks · 21/04/2010 23:34

I wonder how it will be perceived worldwide after Abu Ghraib?

SolidGoldBrass · 21/04/2010 23:34

Thing is, this is one of the areas of sexual display where there is some equality or at least definite steps towards it. There have been 'naked fireman' calendars and I think there was one of naked male office workers for a particular charitable cause. These calendars are a bit different from much commercially available sexually explicit material in that the appeal of them is 'attractive ordinary people getting naked for a Good Cause' because many people are fundamentally quite interested in what other people they know, or might know, look like naked, and there is a sort of frisson about people who wouldn't and don't consider themselves porn performers or sex workers actually engaging in sexual display, both for the purchaser and the person who poses for the photographs.

tiredlady · 21/04/2010 23:34

People on this thread are getting very hung up on the money that was raised, that it was for a good cause etc.

That is not the point.

The point is, should women take their clothes off for men to ogle at/have a wank over. I don't think they should. Others may disagree with me.

It makes no difference in the world that these women took their clothes off charity

pigletmania · 21/04/2010 23:35

at the number of typos too late in the night and too little sleep.

RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:35

Ive already stated my views on men posing naked as well I believe...they are professionals risking life or limb and deserve more respect than getting naked to please some randy old women/men

OP posts:
TheNextMrsDepp · 21/04/2010 23:35

YABU. Can't see the problem. Far more vile things in the world than a few army wives with their kit off. Good for them.

luciemule · 21/04/2010 23:36

Good as army wives cakes are.....they weren't going to make £26000.

Pronoia · 21/04/2010 23:37

So

We wear high heels because men like it.

We shave our natural adult body hair because men like it.

We take off our clothes and show our naked bodies because we know it will raise money because we know men like it.

It's not a HUGE leap of the imagination to government funded prostitutes, is it?

Because 'men like it'

When was the last time something was done the way women like it?

I am sick of living in the depths of the male gaze!

Ladyanonymous · 21/04/2010 23:37

I am a woman and I revel in my feminity...I am also intelligent and have a job which demands me to be professional and use my brain...

However I have no qualms using my seuality to aid me in some of my quests in life. I am capable of separating the two things... and I can choose...

CarmenSanDiego · 21/04/2010 23:37

Yuck. Why is it all getting 'behind our lads' - aren't there plenty of heterosexual women in the forces?

Because this sort of thing makes their lives SO much easier.

Revolting.

RedRedWine1980 · 21/04/2010 23:38

Raised 26k and showed the countries we are fighting about that yes were are indeed as immoral and cheap as they already think! Boom ting

OP posts:
Valpollicella · 21/04/2010 23:39

Totally aware of female troops out there...

Utterly bemused by the fact that government £ is being spent on 'rescuing' holiday maker...

pigletmania · 21/04/2010 23:39

But Pronia a lot of women do that because they like it and its what they want. I shave because I like it, I wear make up because i like it, I wear nice clothes when out because I want to feel and look good in myself.

scurryfunge · 21/04/2010 23:39

So any form of money making is ok then is it, providing it is for a good cause?

pigletmania · 21/04/2010 23:41

I do not feel good with hairy pits, a moustashe over my lip, and looking like a bag lady, is there anything wrong with looking good for yourself.
