YABVVVVVU so what! Its raised vital cash for the Help the Heros charity, everything legal and above bord. I dont think a sponsored walk or run would have raised nearly as much. The Womens Institute did a similar calendar for charity, nobody complained about that, in fact they were applauded. Bet you lot would not object if it were servicemen on those calendars.

YABNU to oppose the fact that to raise money for such a worthwhile charity , women should take their clothes off...

YABU for not realising that this kind of fundraising activities sells.

Ive never seen the same as ive seen in that calender on a beach/in a swimming pool before...what type of swims do they do at your pool?

Ermm Piglet speak for yourself- I wouldnt be in the least bit interested in buying a calender of nudey men suggestively 'hiding' behind a cannon... why is it assumed everyone finds people getting their kit off for all and sundry some kind of great thing?

Degrading to you RedRedWine but not to other women. Women are indiviudals in their own rights and the whole point is that women can choose what to do with their bodies be it posing for a charity calendar in the buff or whatever. Nobody is asking you to do it.

They are not doing this as a career its a fun thing to do for charity.

No one is suggesting that these women did it with anything other than good intentions.

However this can't be separated from the wider debate about the objectification of women.It just can't.

Women are taking their clothes off for men to get a cheap thrill. That perpetuates the view that women are sexual objects intended for male gratification.
It makes no difference that this is a charity calender or page3,or Nuts magazine. It's the same thing.

Hopefully Ditttany will be along soon..

Yes - but RRW, you posted in the Am I being Unreasonable section so you would expect people to disagree with you.

On beaches, I have seen near-naked bums and naked boobs; the calendar shows no more than that. In fact, parents on a beach would find it hard to prevent their children from seeing bums/boobs nudes but you could prevent children from seeing the calendar.
There's a naked fireman calendar somewhere - so what's the difference.

It's £26000 raised that should NOT have to have been raised by this method. If the guys coming back from Afghanistan were getting what they needed from this government then that calendar would not have been necessary. The govt has failed in it's duty of care to those injured; and if my naval db comes back injured, then I'm glad that people are raising money to help.
