Yes, I read the feeble dog excuse. I don't know why I am in the slightest bit surprised by any of this. Soldiers painted a picture of Rita Hayworth on to the side of a nuclear bomb. They always tried to combine ways of killing people with sex.

Absolutely vile.

lucie, with respect, I wasn't talking about carmen's posts

I was talking about yours

Weren't me talking about war issues. I've kept my feelings on the war to myself on this thread.

Love LittleRedDragon's post about bravery.

Also still interested in how Lucie herself said "I'm sure any working woman in the UK is surveyed, might find that sort of material intimidating" and yet she carries on defending it... after AGREEING it is 'intimidating'.

Carmen - you did speak about statistics - that was what I meant. The surveys/American army stats etc.

About the intimidating thing - it's so far back in the thread, I can't to what I was referring - was it women soldiers? If yes, then yes, I was agreeing that all women (not just soldiers) may find that sort of thing intimidating or they may not. I never said that I was in complete agreeance with nude calendars, however, I said that I was in agreeance with them being done as one offs for charity.
I'm seeing this as it is and compared to the many pop stars that flaunt their bodies for their own money making, is, imo, completely different. The likes of Kylie, Beyonce, Pussy Cat dolls, Shakira etc, do far more raunchy/sexual music videos that are available to children to buy.
My views aren't blinkered and I can partly agree with something and yet, for a different reason, disagree with another part of it.
This (the calendar's) level of being sexist doesn't bother me. However, women getting paid less then men who do the same job and men who control their wives etc bothers me. There are always different levels of any subject which people find comfortable with at different levels.

luciemule · 25/04/2010 23:08

Carmen - I'm defending the calendar being created to raise money for the charity I beleive in. I'm not saying glamour modelling is an ideal job for all women because it's not.
