I'm all for manners, equality and respect but my word, it's all becoming over the top don't you think?

No specific examples, just noticed it recently.

MumInBeds · 20/04/2010 21:56

It's very hard to know if you're being unreasonable without examples.

I think you kind of need specific examples. Especially as the definition of 'political correctness' is wildly different for different people.

To me it just means, well, as you say, manners and respect. Can't say I've noticed a massive upsurge in that recently...?

PuppyMonkey · 20/04/2010 22:01

And don't forget health and safety gone mad too.

rubetube · 20/04/2010 22:03

I mean people playing on things....

You can't do that / say that / think that because i'm black/white/gay/straight/old/ young/ a woman/a man

runny bottom You have taken what I have said totally out of context.

I'm not saying it is wrong to give equality and respect for goodness sake.

I'm simply saying that people have become scared of having an opinion because some people take advantage of a situation and milk it for everything they can. For instance they will use their race/age/gender/religion to exaggerate things.

theyoungvisiter · 20/04/2010 22:14

Shall we all just post some Daily Mail Platitudes?

I'd like to add "youth of today".

And maybe "women, they're a bit uppity these days aren't they?"

theyoungvisiter · 20/04/2010 22:16

Ooo yes.

"Milking the System" that's another good one. Not sure exactly how you milk a system, I'd quite like guidelines if there are any?
