I prefer Ocado. I don't know if it's actually cheaper but I don't feel like I'm being ripped off and their produce is good. Their own brand bread etc is nice and they have great fresh fish and excellent pizzas.

butterscotch · 31/03/2010 22:14

Ohhh Im going to register and try ocado now!

JackRabbitBauer · 31/03/2010 22:20

Thanks Annie, I am signed up already but still waiting anxiously to be part of the cool kids team
Even more anxious now after your nice posts. You don't get that from tesco....

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 31/03/2010 22:23

Butterscotch, we can both get £30 after your third order if you let me recommend you

SparklyGothKat · 31/03/2010 23:17

Belle, you were correct about Hemel Hempsted, Ocado used to be there, then they expanded and moved to Hatfield. The warehouse is HUGE!! My brother works nights there and I must give Ocado a go, and get him to give me the family discount, don't think he knows just what he has to do though.. Ocadoannie can you tell me how he does that please?

OcadoAnnie · 01/04/2010 09:06

SparklyGothKat - Sure thing; if your brother speaks to his line manager, then he/she'll give him an e-mail address to which he should send his Ocado username and employee number along with the usernames of the one/two people he'd like to share the family discount with.

SparklyGothKat · 01/04/2010 13:44

thanks will get him to do that

jelliebelly · 01/04/2010 14:20

Another Ocado fan here - no idea if they are cheaper but £8.99 a month for as many deliveries as you want is fab - I seem to recall that we got a christmas delivery included in that too. Also, if you use a John Lewis Partnership card to pay for Ocado deliveries you get points that convert into John Lewis/Waitrose/Ocado vouchers too (way better than Tesco points imo)

NettiespagettisMiniEggs · 01/04/2010 14:29

is so glad Ocado is coming tonight. Just popped to Tescos for some bits for my DB who staying in our caravan for easter and it was rammed.

The woman at the checkout was lovely and even gave me her Toy Story Happy Easter Badges for my DC.

is wondering about the £8.99 per month for deliveries. I'm not sure what to do but probably spent that in the past two deliveries.....hhmmmmm

alarkaspree · 01/04/2010 14:34

Every online shop I've done with Tescos (not that many) has left me spitting with rage at some kind of ludicrous omission or substitution. It's not good for me.

So Ocado all the way, and I don't care if it's more expensive.

DilysPrice · 01/04/2010 14:43

The thing I always found with Sainsburys home delivery was that if I wanted to cook a special meal I had to do the order for several hours in advance to allow me time to pop out to my local supermarket to pick up all the things they'd left out of my order because they didn't have them in stock.

With Ocado I know they'll deliver the stuff I ordered, tbh the money is secondary.

NormalityBites · 01/04/2010 17:25

Would anyone like to be recommended by me? worth a try!

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 01/04/2010 18:36

I'll recomend you! It doesn't work if you are already registered though. I don't mind sticking my email on here, I get more then enough spam! jouelsie at fsmail dot net, you just need to email me so I can pass your email address on to them Don't forget the 15% off your first order with the code that OcadoAnnie has put on here.

bamboobutton · 01/04/2010 19:03

have to agree tesco is v.expensive.

went there a month ago and had a trolly 3/4 full, no meat, no booze, no clothes and it came to £130

went to sainsbos 2 weeks later, had a trolly piled over the top with meat, booze, clothes for ds, books and other groceries and it came to £120. i was expecting it to be £170+.

will never shop at rip-off tesco again. and their food is shit quality

bourboncreme · 01/04/2010 19:28

I love Ocado,I am even a Facebook fan(sad I know)Unlike Tesco the delivery drivers are polite ,always on time or if not they call and are really apologetic ,I recommend the ocado own brand and essentials stuff ,much better than the Tescos basic stuff ,we got one Xmas delivery included and they turned up despite the ghastly weather,I know so many people who had Sainsburys and Tescos deliveries cancelled. Most of all I don't have to visit our local Tescos which has just been prosecuted for having mice living in the fruit and veg aisle.

tonight our delivery is with Lino in the Lemon van!

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 01/04/2010 19:38

mice!!

loolop · 01/04/2010 19:48

Fluffy-haven't received an email from them yet? Am itching to register so I can do my first order!!

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 01/04/2010 19:51

It says you have not responded to them yet. I cut and pasted your email, I can nudge it. Maybe they can't keep up with all the MN converts

loolop · 01/04/2010 19:56

He he have just sent you an email too in case I typoed it on my profile. Got my iPhone ocado app at the ready!

Katz · 01/04/2010 20:03

i love ocado, i have the pay monthly and have switched from one big shop a week to 2 smaller ones del, monday and friday, which means very little waste and nice eats over the weekend. I'm waiting for Avid Apple van to bring tonights shop, mondays was delivered by Alex Apple.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 01/04/2010 20:04

It's the same address. Do you want the number for customer service so you can kick them give them a nudge?? It's 0845 6561234

Freezingmyarseoff · 01/04/2010 20:06

I did an Ocado shop last week (via mysupermarket.com) based on this thread. It was ok but perhaps my expectations were too high. They were meant to deliver on Friday evening by 9pm, they called to say it would no earlier than 10.30pm - too late for us so I changed the delivery to 10am next day.
Got a call at about 9.30am saying they wouldn't make it in time, and that was no good for us as we were going out.
They said they'd call back to let us know when they could deliver in the afternoon, but I never heard back from them. I eventually called them myself only to be told "it's coming at 6pm, didn't you know that?" err no

Is this very unusual? Am wondering whether to try again or just leave it.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 01/04/2010 20:10

This is very unusual. I've been using them for 2 and a half years and have never had a delivery that has turned up late, if anything they have all been on time apart from a few which have been early but they always phone and ask if it's OK for them to do this. It's down to you whether you wish to give them a second chance, I do promise you that they have never turned up late to me though.

OcadoAnnie · 02/04/2010 12:00

Freezingmyarseoff - So sorry about that. Late deliveries are unusual, but if you give us a call (BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny's posted our number above) we'll look into what happened at our end. Or, if you let me know your order number (at the top of your receipt or confirmation e-mail), then I can look into it myself and e-mail your registered address.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 02/04/2010 12:05

Hi OcoadAnnie
I've recommended a lovely person to you on your site so they can see how fab you are but they are not being sent the email from you. I am logging onto my account, putting in their details and it's just saying that their account is not registered.

Can I have a job please? Mumsnet PR person
