But then I just buy "essential waitrose" brand with ocado rather than the brand name I might have in tesco... and it's cheaper. And nicer. Some of your shops may not be cheaper BUT, with the £9.99 monthly delivery pass you can save on that, you can get it delivered any day of the week at basically any time so you don't have to go and get extra bits while waiting for the tesco shop... it all adds up ... and makes it cheaper!

And... I've been spending less on my ocado order than my thing-of-the-past tesco orders for the past few weeks since I've been using it. For our family, it is cheaper, more convenient and delicious. Food is better quality, too.

Neverchuckanokiaatthepm · 28/03/2010 16:15

OH DEFO WOULD BAN OCADO

OcadoAnnie · 29/03/2010 10:20

Hi Mumsnetters, it's lovely to hear that so many of you enjoy using us so much!

nannynick - your wish is my command: VOU0851290. Any of you wanting to try Ocado can use this code to get 15% off your first order with us (maximum reward £15).

lotster - sorry to hear about the unfortunate sausage incident! Glad to hear we refunded it and passed on the feedback.

cornsilk · 29/03/2010 10:24

ocadoannie - I have a problemwith my online ocado account. I put the stuff through checkout, get the page saying thankyou for your order etc,etc then the shopping doesn't turn up. Has happened a couple of times. Seems if the email doesn't come through then it's not gone through properly, but that's a right pain, is it not?

NormalityBites · 29/03/2010 10:28

Oh now we have an Ocado poster Hi Annie. Can you solve the mystery of the welcome packs/free stuff - why have some people got them and I others haven't?

Actually off to do my Ocado shop now!

JackRabbitBauer · 29/03/2010 12:14

Oh hi Annie, please could you let me know when you are likely to start delivering to west wales so I can at least have a chance to see if you are better than tesco?

TrillianAstra · 29/03/2010 15:27

They are better Jack, there's no question about that I'm afraid. Do tesco deliver to you guys?

I'm very tempted by the £9.99 a month and all the deliveries you like, but signing up for a year's worth sounds like a lot. Any chance of a trial membership, like with a gym?

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 29/03/2010 17:26

Welcome OcadoAnnie.

Told you all Ocado are fab and efficient

lotster · 29/03/2010 18:14

Cheers Annie!

Well I got my iPhone Ocado app today. It's sad how happy this makes me. I can add things to my search list as I go along, s'marvellous.

OcadoAnnie, why you some peeps get vodka free and others get blueberries? I had a hunch it was the first thing you wanted that was out of stock that came free next time?? For me that was blueberries but could have been a coincidence.
Also can Belle and me get recommend a friend vouchers for going on about you so much?!! Or at least a prefect badge?

chicaguapa · 29/03/2010 20:21

YANBU. I also find Ocado cheaper overall than Tesco.

I think it depends what you buy when you shop. In Tesco I used to buy more the branded items than Tesco's, whereas I now buy Waitrose or even Essential stuff which makes it all cheaper.

I don't like the Ocado website though and find it really hard to browse, so I order through mysupermarket.com. I always check my shopping against Tesco and if I see there's something on offer in Tesco, I'll just pop in and get it from there instead.

I find that the fruit and veg is usually more expensive than Tesco though, but I don't mind paying a bit more for that as it definitely lasts longer so is better value for money.

chicaguapa · 29/03/2010 20:23

And I have the Ocado on Demand thing so my deliveries are much cheaper and more convenient too.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 29/03/2010 20:49

I've never ordered vodka Lobster!! Tis the stuff of the devil!! It's still in the fridge.
A prefect badge hey! Sounds cool (so does a nice hamper with lots of chocolate/wine/strawberries/cake/more cake/even more cake/yummy cake/even yummier cake/chocolate cake/chocolate fudge cake/more chocolate fudge cake/black forest gateau (yum)/cake

lotster · 29/03/2010 21:43

Or cake?

Perhaps they could just tell you were the vodka type?

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 29/03/2010 21:49

Champagne yes, vodka nooooooo!

I could do with some John Lewis vouchers so I can get ds's school uniform for September (boring mum smiley).

I don't mind to be honest, I despise Tesco so anyone I can poach and send to fab Ocado and their fab service makes me

notcitrus · 29/03/2010 22:05

Ocado are much pricier for me - I do a shop about once a month or less for all the heavy store cupboard stuff, and their tinned tomatoes, flour, juices etc are way more and no better.
Local Tesco guys are very good and never had any problem with them carrying everything into the kitchen and usually helping me unload. Although now would prefer not to use them as they have been responsible for us not having a leisure centre any more. And they've started giving me the Daily Fail in my shop!

Once ds can walk the 400 yards to Sainsbos/Lidl I'll do even more shopping there with my trolley.

mybabywakesupsinging · 29/03/2010 22:12

Ocado/Waitrose is nice but much more expensive than sainsburys basics...I go to the shop when it opens on Saturday morning, with whichever child has decided dawn is the appropriate time to wake, so the cheaper delivery charge doesn't matter.
Nice meat at Waitrose but we tend to be getting cheaper cuts to slow cook anyway. We tend to buy basics salmon or frozen pollock, which does require a certain level of inventiveness to jazz up, but v cheap. No Tesco near here, and for the shopping I buy Asda is about the same as Sainsburys.
We used to have Ocado and they were always very good at delivering the stuff ordered, but hopeless about timing due to traffic in our area!

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 29/03/2010 22:12

Ocado used to send a free copy of the Times (sob)

What happend to them??

That's part of the reason why I dislike Tesco notcitrus, there really is no need for a Tesco store in every village/town/city/borough etc.

stoppingat3 · 29/03/2010 22:33

Oh missed this thread due to work today but thought I would add my 2p,
The best way to "do" Ocado is to order fortnightly. Then they send you the 15% discount code, I get mine without fail (except Christmas )when they realise you haven't shopped for a week.
There essentials range is just as good as the branded items and the drivers are lovely.
Oh and its great to get the text about Nigel in the lemon van with nothing missing!
Belle I was wondering about The Times the other day, glad its not just me

JackRabbitBauer · 29/03/2010 22:37

Trillian, everyone else deliver to us, sainsbos, tesco, asda, it's not like I live in the back of beyond either, I live in wales second biggest city!

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 29/03/2010 22:40

They come from Hemel Hemsted IIRC so it's a very long way for their drivers to go Jack. Is there a waitrose?

JackRabbitBauer · 29/03/2010 22:42

Not that I know of, I think there might be one in cardiff. I just get grumpy when everyone always ignores Wales for these things and you lot get all excited and I sit here all despondant. I want bottom butter!

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 29/03/2010 22:44

Bottom butter???? PMSL!!

NettiespagettisMiniEggs · 29/03/2010 22:53

A real ocado person hi annie. I think this thread should go on and on until tesco r beaten lol!

I love my ocado app too and you know what tescos don't do an app!!

JackRabbitBauer · 29/03/2010 22:56

don;t tease...

I kknow if we had a waitrose I would look 10 years younger, instantly.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 29/03/2010 23:01

Bottom butter! ROFL!! It's a tad rude don't ya think!!

I don't have an iPhone so I don't have an ocado app (wails, thumping and kicking the floor) I WANT ONE NOW!!!!

I *really& love ocado. They sent me a lurvely email. I don't think people send nice emails to companies telling them how fab they are, it must have shocked them (goes back to sobbing and kicking 'I want an ocado app on my blackberry! IT'S NOT FAIR')
