To think dh has no taste?

Yeah yeah I probably should have put this in DIY/property but that's dull!

So what do you think of these tiles?

Scroll down to SPRING (the pink one).

We're having a Victorian style bathroom, roll-top bath etc. I want two of these on either side of the shower on the cubicle walls (i.e. inside the shower). We are having the walls dark pink below the dado and off-white above the dado.

Fantabulous and poncetastic, non?

Dh has said no, but I am ignoring him slowly talking him round.

I'm with dh. They are quite quite hideous.

mumhadenough · 13/03/2010 19:07

Oh Good God Above, they are awful!

Sorry!

MrsC2010 · 13/03/2010 19:08

Sorry, really not my thing.

thisisyesterday · 13/03/2010 19:08

inside the shower, i think will look quite odd tbh!!!

how big are they?

i can't say I actively dislike them, but they'd have to be in the right place in the right room for me to actively LIKE them too

Picante · 13/03/2010 19:09

They're only 6" square!

mrsboogie · 13/03/2010 19:09

Oh Lord, no.

Listen to the man for gawd's sake!

Acinonyx · 13/03/2010 19:11

Well I quite like them. If you are going for that style and have the right kind of house (not mine) they could loook good, I think.

But I think that whole style has to come over a bit tongue in cheek - as it is so fantastically poncetastic.

tethersend · 13/03/2010 19:12

I'm going to say get them, as my hippy parents had a mirror with all of those four images on it, and it's taken me right back to my childhood.

I'm quite choked.

GrendelsMum · 13/03/2010 19:12

Could be nice by a fireplace, but I do think they'd look a bit out of place in a shower.

shockers · 13/03/2010 19:12

I quite like things like this seen in other folk's eclectic homes... would hate it in my own though.

Our house is period.

I blow raspberries to you all.

OP posts:
tethersend · 13/03/2010 19:14

BTW, they are art nouveau though, so not really the right era for a Victorian bathroom...

...Although if we're going to get picky, domestic houses didn't have bathrooms until the 1920s so...

...I'll get my coat.

QuestionsAnswered · 13/03/2010 19:14

The tiles themselves are fine, in the right context. But it seems clash of styles to have a shower cubicle and Victorian tiles. Can you link to the shower cubicle, in case I am just not visualising it correctly?

LilRedWG · 13/03/2010 19:15

Hell no.

LilRedWG · 13/03/2010 19:16

Sorry - hit post too soon. . That should have read, "Not quite my taste".

Picante · 13/03/2010 19:18

It's not really a cubicle like a walk-in shower, just has tiled walls.

The shower is a fixed head.

That picture is called Printemps (1900) so ner ner.

KristinaM · 13/03/2010 19:20

better pictures hereof the panel idea

i have a period house and i hate them. but that's just my taste

MrsC2010 · 13/03/2010 19:20

Our house is period...still wouldn't have them. BUT, each to their own! If your DH actively dislikes them maybe YABU and should find a compromise.

bumpybecky · 13/03/2010 19:24

hideous

teaandcakeplease · 13/03/2010 19:29

Lol tethersend.

I quite like them, think it would look cool if going for the Victorian thing and period house.

Why not

EggyAllenPoe · 13/03/2010 19:31

i quite like them, though think they might look like they're meant to be in a fireplace...

I think current taste in decor has gone over-bland though, and i really like a bit of decoration, so can see where the op is coming from - and if you're bathroom is big enough it can take decoration, in fact rather needs something.

actually, looking at the other picture of a set-in panel i think they're great! and if anything, the effect is more tasteful than a real victorian bathroom might have looked.

Picante · 13/03/2010 19:33

Our bathroom's pretty massive. Everything else is going to be plain.

I still love them. I will not show dh this thread.

OP posts:
orienteerer · 13/03/2010 19:36

Oh no.

specialsmasher · 13/03/2010 19:36

I really like them - stick to your guns.
