Yeah yeah I probably should have put this in DIY/property but that's dull!

So what do you think of these tiles?

Scroll down to SPRING (the pink one).

We're having a Victorian style bathroom, roll-top bath etc. I want two of these on either side of the shower on the cubicle walls (i.e. inside the shower). We are having the walls dark pink below the dado and off-white above the dado.

Fantabulous and poncetastic, non?

Dh has said no, but I am ignoring him slowly talking him round.

Karndean is a bit iffy too Sorry

thehillsarealive · 13/03/2010 20:52

I have tried to think of a nice, tactful way to say this but cant. Those tiles are hideous. They arent victorian either.

LeQ, you literally took the words out of my mouth....

well the bit about my eyes..

the rest is a little stronger worded than I would usually venture....

Picante, step away from the tiles... sorry but DH has taste, you, it would seem, do, er, not.

Sorry.

Picante, really, don't do it

tethersend · 13/03/2010 21:09

If it's the authentic Victorian bathroom you're after, you need look no further

No need to thank me.

MrsCrafty · 13/03/2010 21:12

Nooo!

SixtyFootDoll · 13/03/2010 21:12

Those tiles are so awful

MrsCrafty · 13/03/2010 21:13

Lol at Tethersend

slightlystressed · 13/03/2010 21:13

Those tiles were the surround of our fireplace when we bought our house. My FIL who has ZERO taste thought they were beautiful and wanted us to keep them! ROll top baths are hideous too.

tethersend · 13/03/2010 21:30

LeQ, where did the lentil porn thread go?

whomovedmychocolate · 13/03/2010 21:34

You know you said your house was period, is it the period that style forgot?

Or like before your period when you buy yellow dungarees thinking they need are gorgeous only to realise when the hormones drop you look like a great big 'nana?

The. Tiles. Are. BAD.

Hullygully · 13/03/2010 21:43

I LOVE them!!!! They are faberooni!!!

Everyone else is just jealous and spiteful.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 13/03/2010 21:46

Thing is, it's a picture of a Victorian lady, but not really what Victorian's would have in their bathrooms.....

If it's a period house, think traditional Victorian.

aSilverLining · 13/03/2010 21:47

urgh. Thankfully I am on MN so can be as honest as I like - they are HIDEOUS

Sorry, but they are!

MillyR · 13/03/2010 21:50

I love them. I was entranced by them until someone put in that link to the peacock tiles which I am even more entranced by. But then I thought it was fantastic when my friend got married in body glitter, a disney style wedding dress and a miniature crown with rhinestones hanging off it, so I am not going to be chosen to write a style guide.

I couldn't have the tiles because I live in a weaver's cottage and one of the bathroom walls is made of stone, so it wouldn't work.

In a Victorian house, I think it looks fine to put in Victorian stuff or anything post Victorian. I don't like it the other way around - like dado rails in a house built much later that would have had a picture rail instead.

I don't like the roll top bath, or the pink colour scheme, but I love the tiles. I think people should choose what they like, not what other people will find tasteful.

There are quite a few nice ones at Tilesbydesign.

tethersend · 13/03/2010 22:03

Victorians wouldn't have had anything in their bathrooms. They didn't have any.

Unless they were nobs.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 13/03/2010 22:03

pmsl @ MillyR

Georgimama · 13/03/2010 22:08

They are horrid. Sorry.

I do tend towards the "paint everything in sight white" school of interior design, though.
