To think dh has no taste?

Yeah yeah I probably should have put this in DIY/property but that's dull!

So what do you think of these tiles?

Scroll down to SPRING (the pink one).

We're having a Victorian style bathroom, roll-top bath etc. I want two of these on either side of the shower on the cubicle walls (i.e. inside the shower). We are having the walls dark pink below the dado and off-white above the dado.

Fantabulous and poncetastic, non?

Dh has said no, but I am ignoring him slowly talking him round.

Victorian style and Art Nouveau style are two distinct styles. This is not about when Queen Victoria died!

tethersend · 14/03/2010 13:54

Bonsoir, there is not even such a thing as an authentic Victorian bathroom in a house such as this! It's driving me mental!

picmaestress · 14/03/2010 14:14

I hate them. They are so ugly.

I used to know a family who had these in their bathroom when I was little. I hated them then, too.

they are hideous

Maleeka · 14/03/2010 14:35

Sorry if my OH wanted those tiles in my bathroom i'd slap him, so i totally agree with your OH i'm afraid!

Bonsoir · 14/03/2010 14:46

Have we even established what "period" the OP's "period house" is from?

said · 14/03/2010 14:46

I love Mucha but think the look a bit pub toilet as tiles. What about a nice print instead?

Bonsoir · 14/03/2010 14:48

I have nothing at all against Art Nouveau - there are some lovely Art Nouveau apartment blocks in my road that I rather lust after - but I do think that it is incredibly difficult to mix Art Nouveau with other styles. It quickly looks amazingly tasteless and nouveau riche when taken out of context.

THK · 14/03/2010 14:51

Big No

Bonsoir · 14/03/2010 14:55

I hate patterned wall tiles.

However, patterned floor tiles can be really gorgeous.

pagwatch · 14/03/2010 14:56

Really, really no. Awful

NotQuiteCockney · 14/03/2010 15:42

Ha! I have these tiles - well, I have other Mucha ones, a set of four mosaics, for different times of the day, in one loo. The decor is otherwise v simple, though, white tiles, etc etc.

Oh, yeah, I have Nocturnal Slumber, Evening Reverie, and two others that are morning-y.

I can't talk though, Lequeen- my bathroom looks exactly like this.

In fact, I seem to remember trying to bully you into selling me your kitchen at one point

I think I've just come.

Hullygully · 14/03/2010 18:01

Tether, you are very saucy and no mistake.

Ponymum · 14/03/2010 18:05

OMG, I agree with bonsoir! Art Nouveau is very hard to get right, and so very, very wrong when out of context.

My thoughts when I saw the tiles were:

  1. Are you my grandmother?
  2. Is it 1981?
  3. Do you have a purple velour sofa?
Because, sorry, but that's the kind of house where I expect to see these tiles.
TrinityIsFuckingTrying · 14/03/2010 18:09

those tiles are hideous

I would ditch the whole isea tbh

tethersend · 14/03/2010 18:14
